Quote

Mahomes completed just five of seven passes for 33 yards on two possessions versus the Texans.

Sticking to short passes, Mahomes' first drive lasted just four plays before ending with a punt. He fared no better in his second chance, stepping into a sack and overthrowing tight end Travis Kelce in another possession that resulted in a punt.

I have not understood how the same folks negative on Allen talk about how we missed on Mahomes, how Beane gets fired for not taking Mahomes, etc.   His flaws are similar to the ones talked about for Allen, primarily footwork.   At least Allen ran a more pro style offense.  Mahomes ran that shotgun single look spread - has a QB that played that offense in college done well in the pros?

I think most of us are upset about passing on Watson, who was pro-ready with every tool  you could want. Then he stormed into the NFL and was elite from Day 1, just like he was in college. Instead we passed to draft a major project from a bad conference that had a poor college career. That's why I was upset.

Watson is elite already?? Dude has played 4 games. Remember that time we drafted a guy that was on Sports Science with the quickest release ever? Endorsed by Hall of Fame coaches? He had a couple good games in his trash heap of a career.

Watson could be elite but you and everyone else need to pump the brakes just a little. I'll be more convinced when he plays a full season.

If you watched them, you'd know he played 7 games where he threw for 1700 rushed for 250, and had utterly insane games. He was the most dynamic QB in the league last year until he got hurt.

yeah - RGIII was pretty ridiculous in 2012 and everyone was talking about how dumb the rams were to trade him.

4 games, 7 games. Still wasn't a whole season with defenses game planning against him. I've seen his story one too many times to immediately jump to conclusions.

Great example. Now he's battling for a backup spot after being out of football for a year.

RGIII looked like a superstar....briefly. I’m not saying Watson won’t be great, just that it’s still a little early to know for sure. You do have to like what he’s shown so far.

The most dynamic QB in the league until he got hurt.

That is one of the more over the top claims I have witnessed in quite some time.

RGlll had 20 passing TDs and seven rushing TDs in 15 games.

Watson had 19 passing TDs and two rushing TDs in seven games (6 starts).

In essence Watson almost replicated RGlll's 15 game production in around a touch less than half the playing time.

There is no comparison.

This is exactly how I feel about it. The one thing I will give Watson is he had a phenomenal game in the second NC to beat Saban and his Bama D. I hope Watson is good on the field, he is one of the good guys.

He dominated defenses for 3 years in college and then for his 7 games in the NFL. I'm not sure how we didn't take him, but couldn't pass up a guy who was the third best QB in a weak conference. I feel like Watson gets a lot of hate on here for the simple reason that he isn't a Bill.

True. Hey remember those great battles between Moon and Kelly ?

I’m OK if we face Watson in the AFC Champioship game. That will take more than the 4 wins some are predicting. I want to see progress this year, and hope for results next year.
