Lordy, and you call the left “ snowflakes”. You keep making my point for me. Why TF would you care one iota what Kathy Griffin says. Can you really get offended that easily?

First, I was answering your question as to why no one has a sense of humor anymore. You asked, I answered, and it has nothing to do with me being offended. Please don't turn into that dumbass, okay?

Let me try again....slooooower for you: It's not that you see people with less of a sense of humor. You see people tired of today's comedy. Everything that is SUPPOSED to be cradled in comedy is almost exclusively now built on pissing on Trump. Everything, always, all the time. My timeline is filled with Trump zingers from all the usual suspects, and it is embarrassingly tiresome to everyone.

Okay...stay with me...almost done.

Comedy is SO broken because of this 'dump on Trump always" approach, that a bad comedian like Kathy Griffin - a global voice every since she held the bloody Trump head, right? --  felt it necessary to DUMP on a black guy because he didn't dump on Trump.

And she callled the guy a puzzzzy.

In USA Today.

People are tired of it. That's why no one is laughing.

So don’t mean to be offensive, I just don’t see why anyone would care what she says. I could not care less what Hannity, ot the F&F folks say. They are knuckleheads, same as her. She is just a nasty ass human who carries no weight with anyone who thinks.

I laugh at a lot of stuff, and yep Trump opens himself to ridicule and opens himself up to be made fun off all time. If the right can’t own that, I don’t know what to say. The dude said an interview today was fake news and it was recorded. If I am a comedian that is comedy gold material.

It's not that people care what she says, it's that anyone (including Kathy Griffen types) are given a microphone and airtime if they follow the approved script.  And doing that steals the spotlight from things that actually might be funny or interesting.  And because following the script is mandated, even things that were once funny (eg., the Daily Show) turn into the same tired routine every night and become unwatchable.

It's not the end of the world, we can watch the ballgame instead, but it's certainly marked a downturn in our culture and our entertainment options.

You can admit Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, SNL, Colbert, and the Daily Show have become 88% less funny since they have given up comedy for the daily Trump outrage right ?

When I need a good laugh I just pull up "The Young Turks" from 11-9-16.

I disagree with some this. SNL hasn't been funny since Eddie Murphy left, and Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert were never funny.  I'll take your word for the Daily Show since I have never seen it, and agree with you on Jimmy Kimmel.

Snl has been plenty funny until the last few years imo.         Hader, Wiig, Kenan, and others have provided some laughs.

That one is enjoyable, but I prefer the ‘Trump will never be President’ montage followed by Wolf announcing all the Trump states.

In fact, I might watch it tonight, been a long week!

Not even a smirk.

SNL goes through phases where they're funnier at times than others.  And I accept that I've aged out of their target demographic, so I no longer find them particularly funny.

But the past two years, they've abandoned comedy for advocacy and general meanness.  Even back when they'd mock Ford for being clumsy, or Reagan for being doddering, there was still a good-natured element to it, and not the complete rage they - and most other comedians - show towards Trump.

And rage just isn't that funny.

No, they have become even funnier cause they have so much ammo to work with

Trump is far less of a monstrosity than Hillary and her gropy husband.

Bill looks horrible for his age.

She is a physical wreck who can’t get through a speech without coughing uncontrollably, can’t walk down a flight of stairs

Ammo that far left people like yourself find funny because it's a narrative with which you agree.

But the number of you who find that funny is diminishing. Again, how do you think you GOT a President Trump? I mean, beyond a horrible competitor like Hillary?

You got Trump because it's not that funny anymore. In fact, the funniest thing at this point is watching the left soil itself every freaking day as they realize what the rest of us already know.

I know you've been a member here at TSW for a long time. By any chance did you spend any time here at PPP during the republican convention? The republican primary? If so, have you forgotten the daily lambasting that Trump took from nearly everybody who even leans the slightest bit to the right? If not, you should scroll back a few pages and take a look for yourself.

I think you are attributing an allegiance to the president on this board that largely does not exist, at least insofar as we/they comprise a body of "Trump supporters". If you ask me, what you're seeing is a reaction to the over-the-top nature of the daily rantings of those who not only oppose Trump and his policies, but truly believe that they are waging a justified campaign against an actual nazi. The histrionics would be entertaining if they weren't so shrill, so constant, and so brainless, and many people are getting pretty sick of the constant barrage we endure whenever we pick up a paper, go online, or turn on the TV. There's always been political humor in our society, much of it pretty harsh, but it's being amplified lately by a contingent of shrieking pinheads to a point where it's difficult to ignore. Stating such doesn't make one a snowflake; snowflakes are young leftists who cannot endure the perceived injustices of society without trigger warnings and safe spaces.

For all of Trump's ineptitude, his two SC picks have been rock solid. Both Gorsuch and Kavanaugh represent a hands off approach regulatorily but a willingness to consider all facts of a case before deciding.

Not too shabby, considering the source.

You make an important point. I never particularly liked the guy but convinced at least three woman who despised him personally to vote for him based on his pledge to appoint conservative judges. In my mind this was critical and while it sorta overshadows his other accomplishments (some in process) those accomplishments are huge. He has become a difference maker.

For the record, I have liked both his appointees. Still despise the shannigans in 16 though.

This could be another Souter disguised in Scalia clothing.

This is what I'm afraid of, though it's not completely rational.  Souter had virtually no paper trail, serving less than a year at the first circuit, and HW was surrounded by statist traitors who whispered Souter's name in his ear.  Kavanaugh has a 10 year track record at the DC circuit.  He's no Scalia, but he seems like an Alito with a little less love for regulatory executive administrations.

Maybe if Burr, the ghost of Dangerfield, Old Jay Leno, or Letterman we’re doing it.

Meyers, Noah etc just sound like whiny bitches who stopped writing jokes.

Can you link any funny clips from them ?

Nonsense like Zoolander and Night at the Roxbury can make me laugh but this batch of late guys/sjw’s can’t deliver.

Name some.

It is tough as most of those leaning right that are comedians were squeezed out during the Obama years.  While humor has always been about making fun of those "more powerful" than the average person, that just was not allowed between 2008 and 2016.

But, look to Greg Gutfeld and Dennis Miller as right-leaning comedians if you want to listen (or read) something funny.

Worried about it?

Hell, we freaking love it. The humor is terrible, but every time Kathy Griffin opens her piehole, another person is inspired to #walkaway.

I hope Kathy Griffin keeps it up in USA Today every week and gets invited to give the eulogy at RBG's memorial service.

I like those two. Would love to see Row list some more since he thinks most comedians are righties which is absolutely wrong.

Do you find that creating your own definitions in any way hampers your ability to have productive discussions? Don't be like Baskin; I've read plenty of your posts and know you're better than that.

I'm not sure why you reference Kathy Griffin specifically, but I couldn't care less about what she says or does. Saying outrageous things about Trump is the only way she can get anyone to pay her any attention nowadays.

I'm the one who brought up Kathy Griffin in response to his point that no one has a sense of humor anymore, to suggest that virtually everyone must use Trump in their comedy. You can't turn on a damn thing without someone picking on him, in ways we've never seen previously. My point was that the issue isn't that we lost our sense of humor, but rather that comedy is no longer funny because it's stale and predictable.

Thanks - I didn't know where the Griffin reference originated, so I was wondering why he included that in his reply to me. With regards to comedians, I see a lot of people who are usually both original and funny, but are now neither; the same old insults over and over, they all say the same crap. Nothing original about that.
