Rapoport didn't start for NFL Net. until 2012. (https://bostonsportsmedia.com/2012/03/06/rapsheet-heading-to-the-nfl-network/)

Not to say this tweet is fake, but two potential explanations:

1- it's fake.

2- He didn't have sources like he does now.

Now, that being said, people are wrong all the time and Rap is as well. Not saying he's always right, but I would say he's better than Kiper.

You've gotta admit there's a certain amount of genius here.  He invented his own career and has made millions.

And while he doesn't evaluate players as well as NFL scouting departments, he doesn't need to.  He just needs to know the players better than the average fan so he can tell us something new.  And he's good at this.  He does tons of research and then makes (often bad) prognostications.  It's all kind of entertaining.

I am no fan of Kiper; however, (1) I can respect that he had the vision and dedication  to create a very successful career for himself, and (2) I am not really certain that he is any less accurate in his assessments than any of the other , so called, "draft experts."

Except that even requires training... what Mel does is hobby turned career

Someone should look back to see how accurate this so called "Football experts" predictions have been i remember when the Bills took Cordy Glenn he said he was not starting caliber LT that he was better suited for the RT position .

Well There You Go !! Mel's wisdom at work ...

This could not be more true. I literally remember this doofus along with many others talking about how cordy was too slow and only cable if he was used as being a scheme specific type of guard... only having played LT at a very high level and multiple scheme changes later I think was one of many examples of Mel’s greatness

Interesting, I remember that draft well. I never had a problem with Kiper, still like listening to those segments. It's kind of just part of the draft , since as long as I can recall. I give him props for creating a job where once none existed. For years I've said the Bills could have just bought MKs draft guide and made their picks off that. Would have had better results and saved some $$. It's probably not true now, but it was not too long ago.

The truly funny part is they played a video clip while he was saying that and Glenn was playing LG but circled the LT and pointed out all the things he did wrong.

Kiper was literally that nerdy kid living in his mom's basement who invented the concept of draft geek.  He is patient zero. The original. His spawn populates every newspaper, sports channel, blog and website. Kiper invented a job where being wrong does not affect your credibility.

Dude, you’re completely underselling Kiper. He went to noted football scouting powerhouse Community college of Baltimore County!  He was so smart about football, he never played, coached, or was in a football front office!  You can’t get CTE if you never work in football!!! Dude is a genius and I will base my entire opinion on their draft by his draft board.

Well, whatever else you can say about him he has certainly fashioned himself a nice career. If I had known this years ago I could have saved a lot of time and money by not going to graduate school for five years and becoming a well paid draft guru. So what if I wasn’t very good at it?

How's your hair?

"Draft Expert" is one of the most amazing jobs ever created.  In what other vocation can a person be completely wrong more often than not yet face no accountability and no repercussions?  They all treat their position the way a starting CB treats his, except instead of "forget the last play" it's "forget what I said last year."

Mike Mayock said that he only saw Cordy Glenn as a Guard in the NFL.

Kiper wasn't the only one.
