It's actually a little odd teams don't literally have this given how often they waste money on guys who haven't grown the !@#$ up.

I expect that part of the reason would be that the NFLPA would throw a holy fit.

It's also a little odd that the NFLPA doesn't provide this, too.

Or just to give them advice.  "Don't buy that $20k diamond tennis bracelet; save your money."  "That guy isn't your friend, he's just hanging out with you for chicks and booze.  Don't kick him any cash."  "Don't hit that jaywalking Canadian broad."  "Why are you picking up random chicks at the gas station?  There's escort services available, and they're guaranteed not to be underaged, you idiot."

Aint no one listening to any "advice".

You mean a couple speeches where Herm Edwards tells you to only buy one of everything, and Chris Carter tells you to keep a "fall guy" in your posse, arent cutting it?!?

OMG OMG WHAT a letter.  If any of you didn't click on the letter and read it, run don't walk, do it now.

The Texans thing brought a bit of a tear to me, no joke.

Aaron Williams, man, you're a class act and whatever is next for you in life, we wish you the best.

But if it calls to you at all I hope you would consider coaching, because when it comes to communicating you have a gift.

Serious question, I know he had some bad injuries, but is he not cleared to play? He's still relatively young. Why can't he play football? Yes he had a neck injury, but is his particular injury un healable?

Read the article, he had 3 different teams want to sign him and their doctors wouldn't clear him to play

I often wondered if teams had a "Rookie Transitions Manager" or "Community Liaison", and if not, why not? It would be a younger person who could communicate with young players on their level, who also knew the area very well. Help rookies and young players deal with everything from the new schedule and pressures, to finances, to finding places to eat/play in the area. So, when a player is sick of spending 14 nights in a row at Dave & Busters, the person would step in and take them out to dinner on the Elmwood strip. Something along those lines.

Wow, well.  I guess I woulda assumed that teams would have such of a thing.  I know they do try to help players with finances and so forth, the problem is, the players have to be willing to listen.

Although TBH, it would be better if it were funded by the vet players.  I think someone employed by the team would be limited in some of the advice they could give in some areas without opening liability?

Right on, and Im even less concerned with lending financial advice, as much as how valuable someone in that position would be to a team in Buffalo. Where you really need to know the area well in order to find all the hidden fun.

Liked his play, liked him as a person.  Hated that his career was cut short.

Unmentioned in the article but I think it helped the maturation process that Williams had bottomed out as a player.........by some measures he was the worst CB in the entire NFL in his second year, which is why he was getting bashed on twitter.

Watkins and Dareus never got anywhere near that low in their first few seasons but I often mentioned how AW went from public enemy #1 on Bills social media wrt people saying Watkins couldn't repair his "little jobs" kinda' issues......which were relatively minor compared to the early hate-spew of AW on twitter.

Switching to safety wasn't mentioned but without that he probably would have just continued to suck regardless of his attitude.......just didn't have CB chops at that level but had excellent safety skills.

And though he mentions it I think he understates his relationship with on-field violence a bit......he was a borderline dirty player who'd draw flags for late hits out of bounds and he LOVED to lead with the helmet.    Wish he'd have made it back,  I would have liked to see what he looked like if he was bigger, stronger, faster in Houston last year.

When he was drafted, I said he was better suited as a safety in the NFL.  Glad he got to show how good he was at that position.
