I think a lot of "neutral" fans may skip this one. Mainly just Philly and Pats fans watching. I'm curious to see what the ratings will be for this one when it's all said and done. Iron Maiden Posted January 23, 2018 Share Posted January 23, 2018 I saw an article on the Broncos MB..can't find it right now.....It basically was saying that NE scouts the officials every week....once the refs are announced for a specific game, they have guys studying all the games those refs have been in...looking for tendencies, what they are tough on....what they are more lenient on....etc.... That's the brilliance of it. One back-breaking call is, sometimes, all that is needed. There was no reason for the ref to whistle the play dead during the fumble recovery. That's something you allow to be reviewed, not being 100% certain if... A) A fumble actually took place B) The player who recovered the fumble was down by contact.
