Boldin leaving wont change #Bills solid long term plan. Short term plan is problem. Will locker room stay on board?

McDermott and Beane have preached long term winning since they arrived in Buffalo. The short term plan has been much less clear. Kyle Williams remained, but Gilmore and Zach Brown were let go. Tyrod Taylor stays (granted, on a pay cut), but Watkins and Darby are traded.

It may not be a "damn the torpedoes" tank job, but sliding higher and higher up the draft board doesn't seem to bother the Bills this year. There's much to say in defense about that path, but obviously, Beane and McDermott won't have say much about it even if that's their choice.

Bills fans may be frustrated, but they're not stupid. They see a rebuild when it happens. Even when they know it's necessary, it's still not fun. That goes for players, too.

Boldin leaving is not a season changer for the Bills, but it might be an indication that this season won't be successful without some changing.

And, more importantly, it indicates the Bills locker room probably sees it, too.

Full rebuild can work out and lots of times don't. Browns been rebuilding every year and still end up last on list or other teams in history. Like Bills did as well few years ago end up middle of road team as of we are right now (till day hired Rex put them in this mess)

If they went Hue Jackson and Schwartz might be different but in the past

I'm confused as to the "move that they made" here with Boldin that generated all of this outrage?

Beane called him proof we're not tanking and inferred that he was somehow a Sammy replacement. Anyone with eyes can see both statements were a joke.

At this point I wish Beane would just realize that MOST Bills fans would not only understand a tanked season, but would actually be all for it. There is no way he can truly believe we have a chance at a Playoff spot this season. Many fans threw up the tank sign as soon as Watkins and Darby were traded. This only furthers those feelings and Beane should really embrace the fan's support of a tank this season. If the fans understand it, now is the time. He won't have a better chance than this season to tank and get away with complete understanding.

Then again, maybe he already believe in his heart we are bad enough to get a top 3 pick without doing anything else....... He may be right, but I, along with many others, would be more than happy to take 1 or 2 more steps to ensure we get there.

I am in for the tank...and a season ticket holder

He looked absolutely awful in that preseason game. Overweight , slow, sluggish and just old. The Bills were probably going tom cut him after seeing him in action and I'm sure they gave him the opportunity to exit and end his career gracefully. If so classy move from thenBills front office.

as noted above, i am in for the tank, wish he stayed as I agree with observations

This is Christmas for the haters.

Have no clue what this means...Bills have been terrible decision makers for 17 years..and somehow we should believe in every decision they make?

Where is Mix Master Beane now?

Hes the one who hyped Boldin as the proof the Bills weren't beginning a rebuild.

He used it as ONE example as to why, not THE example why.

He was absolutely horrendous outside of Jerry Hughes trade.

A blind squirrel can find an acorn every now and then.

Look at the man's drafts.

Yeah and look at all the teams begging to have the players he had on the roster for the last couple of years

No one has to agree with every move, how about every post not being uninformed whiny bitching?

Uninformed? Bitching?

That's a starting WR on the depth chart who just walked out.

So far this looks like the same terrible organization as always. Hyping veterans well beyond their prime, trading what little talent they do have, losing good players to the Pats, hyping backup QBs.

Meanwhile you watch Mahomes get into the end zone twice on 10 throws and Watson run for a TD.

These FO guys are supposed to know more than common fans, they are paid like it. But the 36 year old that Beane was just hyping as evidence of the Bills in win-now mode just walked out.

With Sammy's trade and Streater's injury this WR depth chart looks really nice....

More BS cherry picking. I'm sure you're also aware that he mentioned getting back Matthews and Gaines as "proof." And what does boldins decision to retire have to do with Beane's intentions when he signed him? Are you saying Beane knew he was going to retire?

The season tickets are sold and most of the single game tickets. Pretty ironic how that base is covered then the rest of this happens. Russ Brandon @ his best. Boldin knew this team was a lost cause and would rather hang them up then suffer through this season. The locker room has got to feel the vibe too.
