They have no good players to pay, the Sammy trade sucked but this is a stupid decision. Just tag him and hope for the best. Otherwise they are going to be over paying FA's with that same money. Therefore I would pick up the option and then you can tag him the following year. Hopefully by that time you have a QB where he will be more inclined to sign. We wouldn't spend a couple extra hundred grand to tag Hogan and Gilly at higher tags. What makes you think we would just give Sammy an extra 2 million?
