PromoTheRobot Posted January 4, 2017 Share Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) Sounds like you didn't watch any Ole Miss games this year. The o-line was terrible all season, the defense was a sieve. They made Vandys offense look like a powerhouse and the auburn game was very similar to our second Miami game this year. Kelly kept scoring but the defense couldn't stop squat. He's clearly got massive issues, he doesn't possess half the talent of guys like Manziel or Jamarcus Russell while bringing the off field baggage in spades. I see a lot of upside with this guy if he can cool some of the off field antics. Jim Kelly was a hot head too and it actually helped fuel his on-field performance. Why some people here are sold on him is beyond me. I think that the reality is that people in Buffalo don't follow college football like other areas in the country do. There isn't really a local interest and it isn't a part of the culture. Buffalonians are not as well-versed in the strengths and weaknesses of prospects as people in Georgia (for example) may be. With that being said, we revert back to what we know or what we are comfortable with. We know that Chad is from WNY, was considered a high prospect at one time and is Jim's nephew. People in WNY have made a point to see him. At the same time they couldn't tell you where Mason Rudolph or Luke Falk play without googling it. It's not a knock, it's just a regional thing. If you wanted an opinion on a young NHL defenseman I'd ask someone from Buffalo over someone from Georgia. If I wanted to know about an OT from Tennessee I'd ask someone from a Georgia over someone from Buffalo. Obviously there are tons of exceptions but I think that you get the point... Chad had a bunch of turnovers and Ole Miss had essentially played themselves out of a potential playoff spot (I think that they were last in the SEC West at the time). There was a lot of talk that they were going to turn the page and then he went out for the year so it happened anyways. 2003Contenders Posted January 4, 2017 Share Posted January 4, 2017 Given the scrutiny that teams place on QBs during draft-time, I am fairly confident that Chad Kelly will go undrafted. While he may have plus physical talent, poor decision making on the field will cause his stock to fall. When the multiple off-field issues are taken into account, no team in the NFL (Bills included) will have the intestinal fortitude to invest a draft pick on him. If the Russ, the Pegulas, Whaley -- or whomever -- really think adding him because of his surname will create some positive chatter among the fan-base, they should wait until AFTER the draft to do so.
