Aside from that whole pesky CIA backed coup of course ;)

And Praying Mantis.  And Nimble Archer.  And Iran Air 665.  And a quarter-century trade embargo.  And 15 years of routine violations of their airspace and territorial limits.

ARTHUR CHRENKOFF ON AUSTRALIA:

“It’s pretty much a hard political law that when the right loses an election they tend to blame themselves (‘it was the infighting – the bloody moderates/conservatives [delete as appropriate] destabilised the party’ or ‘what a ***** campaign that was; what idiots do we have in charge at the headquarters?’).

If, on the other hand, the left loses they blame the voters, who are either evil or dumb. Or they blame the electoral system. The same system that seems to work OK every time they win, all of a sudden becomes problematic, outdated and deeply flawed when they don’t.”

Same here.

The leader of the House of Commons resigned. Theresa May has not (yet). She "faces pressure", "could resign", and it "clinging on" - well those are the headlines anyway.

Theresa May faces pressure after Andrea Leadsom resigns

Theresa May is continuing to face pressure from her own MPs to resign after one of her senior ministers quit the cabinet.

The Leader of the House, Andrea Leadsom, stepped down on Wednesday night over the PM's Brexit policy.

AOC's already calling for May's "like...impeachment, totally."

The former secretary of state told lawmakers that he believed there was more the United States needed to do to counter Russia on the global stage, said a person who was in the room.

Yes, we could have done way more! For example we could have given Russia the remainder of our uranium ..or maybe let them take over part of another country! These people aren’t thinking big enough.  But...it’s OK, tell Vladimir that Trump will have a lot more flexibility after the 2020 election! ?

Sen. Feinstein Dines with Iranian FM Amid Tensions

More troubling stuff – why is she meeting with the people currently threatening us? And then telling a story about the State Department arranging it when they clearly didn’t?

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) had dinner with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, Politico reported Thursday.

Feinstein’s office said her dinner was “arranged in consultation with the State Department.”

The State Department said it had not asked the senior senator from California to attend the dinner.

Zarif has served in his post since 2013. He negotiated the Joint Congressional Plan of Action (JCPOA), the Iran nuclear agreement, with then-Secretary of State John Kerry. In February of this year, he announced he would be resigning from the post. After several days of confusion, the Iranian government clarified he would remain in his role.

It didn't say "arranged by" State.  It said "arranged in consultation" with State.  Which could simply mean DiFi's office sent an email to some flunky at State and said "We're doing this, try to stop us."

Interesting that she's not on any committee that really justifies meeting with him, though.

It's okay, she was investigating Russia collusion.

Nah.  Too obvious.  She's probably asking for recommendations for a new driver.

I'm sure they didn't like any of that but don't forget there was also a movie claiming they were outwitted by Ben Affleck and a bunch of Canadians.  THAT would piss off just about anyone.

The timing of this trip in connection to the order last night and Assange's additional indictments makes me wonder if AF1 will have an extra passenger on its manifest for the return trip home.

They're also getting decimated on the battlefield.

The Mullahs are in big, big trouble.

Starving them is better than going to war but they must believe we are willing to go to war if needed.

Was listening to BBC this morning.  They politely said that May was dealt a bad hand -- and played it poorly.  That's a pretty good summary. As for successor, they were talking about Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt. It wouldn't be Corbyn without a new election, because he's Labor.  They were saying that the Europeans hate Johnson and it would be interesting to see what would happen with Brexit if he were the one.

Purely a conjecture, but I think that’s the  reason Trump has been on the sidelines all along, he wasn’t going to do anything to help May.  He likes Johnson, and if he’s elevated, I expect Trump to provide much more support for the hard exit.
