The holes on this team are clear

I love winning but today showed this team is still miles from the finish;

QB - sorry TT when EJ is brought in for an unknown reason to hard count the D theres an issue and Jones, NO MORE PROJECTS!!!

WR - 1 superstar away from an offense w/o a QB

S - Meeks stinks

Hopefully WR and S can be addressed in the draft

As for QB - Right now i'd trade half the defensive stars for a prototypical, born to be leader QB for one year: unfortunately that might be Romo.

Give Rex a good QB and he'll be our long term coaching solution.

"Prototypical" We get it the reason TT will never be accepted in Buffalo by a lot of people. Athe Dungy''s and the Ryan's He isnt "Prototypical"

What reason are you implying? Nearly everyone started out rooting for Taylor the hard working likable underdog, but his shortcomings as a passer are not fully made up for by his ability to make plays with his legs. Undoubtedly, he is exciting, but a good NFL starting QB needs to be able to hit guys in stride on timing routes - throw the ball to a spot and trust your guy to get there - Taylor has not shown that ability nearly enough.

We may be watching Taylor again next year, though because there don't appear to be many better options available this offseason.

I'm calling BS on your "inference"; the jury is out on TT for several reasons: 1) accuracy issues 2) not seeing or being unwilling to use the middle of the field (perhaps due to his lack of height to see over the line, as pointed out yesterday by Tasker); 3) he seems to only be able to hit a receiver who he feels is 100% open - lacking the precision of timing routes and throwing to a spot

His escapability and speed add another dimension, to be fair, but is he a franchise QB?

TT gets quite a bit of time to throw a lot of drop backs, and our running game is one of the best in the league... so I can't really say our line is a major concern (upgrades are always welcome though).

For me, it's:

- QB

- WR depth (Sammy and Woods are good, but apparently we have health issues and nothing behind them)

- Safeties (honorary mention to needing a new CB1 when Gilmore leaves)

- Coaching

We get ourselves a stud QB, and the rest of the problems go away, we have a decently talented team overall. Hell, get a once in a lifetime coaching staff, and we might make things work as well. But, we have neither QB or coaching, and thats a recipe for mediocrity, no matter how good the rest of the team might be.

Unless we pick up Romo, it is very dicey to expect the qb position to be upgraded overnight. We're going to be drafting best case 15-20 range (or worst case depending how you look at it)... so don't expect a top draft pick qb. This equals a multiple year development project if we select a new qb.

I shouldn't have to say that hitting on someone like a Dak Prescot is unrealistic.

If Tyrod's rushing numbers were converted to passing statistics are we suddenly in love with Tyrod as a franchise qb? I feel like people have forgotten about the past 15 years of Bills qb play.

Well here is the thing...there are plenty of teams that have QBs that put up QB stats, move the ball up and down the field, but don't score points the way we do...

We score points with Tyrod...a lot of points... his low turnover ratio and lack of fumbles plays a big part in this...very few, if any QBs turn the ball over as rarely as Tyrod...

holes

#1 - RT (if TT played behind dallas Oline he'd be a superstar)

#2 - Safety (pitiful)

#3 - NT (we don't have a true NT, both dareus & kyle are DE's in a 3-4)

#4 - QB (we can win with TT, but i'm all for someone better)

#1 - agreed.

#2 - I'd actually put as a bigger need than #1.

#3 - I would have agreed last year when we were just using our nose tackle as a space eater. Actually the way we are running the defense this year I think Marcel is pretty much perfect for the role. I think kudos to Rex because I think that change is not an accident it is a specific design.

#4 - I think to be a regular contender we need a better Quarterback. Yesterday was a microcosm of Tyrod Taylor. First half Tyord - horrible. Second half Tyrod - yes, you can win with.

#5 - I would add receiver. I'm pretty sure Bob Woods will move on, Harvin will crawl back under his rock and Goodwin probably won't be back. I'd like them to keep Hunter on at a reasonable price and try and integrate him into the offense as more than just a redzone threat, add a wily veteran slot guy and draft one in the first couple of rounds. That would give you a respectable 4 and then Listenbee if he amounts to anything can takeover the Goodwin role.

#5 An extra-point specialist. Bills soon to become first team in NFL history to carry three kickers on the active roster. Gay to kick-off, Carpenter for FGs and ??? for x-points.

#1 Safety (first foremost and way beyond anything else)

#2 DB (either another Safety still, or a CB)

#3 OL (RT could use an upgrade, or even bring in Wood's replacement)

Those are the top 3 needs imo.

After that:

#4 WR (yes, we need some more bodies here, but we are a run first team and our QB doesn't find open guys anyways)

#5 QB (pipedream here since we most likely won't find an automatic upgrade, and given how this offense is scoring points, I just don't see TT being replaced)

While S and RT are definite needs it's the QB position that has to be examined very thoroughly and from all angles.

I think the jury is still out on TT. He definitely has shown signs of being a franchise QB, but not on a consistent basis. He's been difficult to evaluate from my perspective because he hasn't always had the weapons (i.e. Watkins, McCoy, Woods, Henderson, etc.) to properly evaluate him.

TT pros: He's always a threat to run, evades the rush well, can make all of the required throws, can hit the deep ball with surprising accuracy.

TT cons: Does not seem to play well when the team is behind, tends to throw high and miss on easy throws, lacks touch at times, tends to be conservative with his decision-making, his short stature works against him when forced to stay in the pocket.

I'm anxious to see how he compares to D. Carr this week since Carr has definitely become a rising star.
