He was way more than solid, he was closer to spectacular, all over the field making plays

Yep. He did it all. He reacted very fast. He closed fast. He hit hard. Guys didn't drag him much. The fumble play was textbook. He cover well. He had a sack. He did virtually everything. I mentioned in another thread that Logan Ryan of the Pats had 17 tackles and he could have been their worst defender. He gave up 11 catches on 12 targets.

There is an article coming out tomorrow in the Miami papers that is online now, saying Mario sucks and isn't much better this year than he was last year.

it should say that he's the same as he was last year: unable to beat any NFL Olineman singled up man to man.

where are all the people that said Rex's scheme was too tough that never went back and watched the film. He stunk all year, most every snap. Had a few garbage broken play sacks because of his length but made a negative impact on the field and the locker room.

The dude hit a wall and tried to blame everyone but his lazy, over the hill self.

to release Manny Lawson...hard to imagine Lawson having a bigger impact than Alexander who has been very good rushing the passer and also active stopping the run as well...

What a pleasant surprise from a guy expecting to be a role player and key Special Teamer.

Alexander leading the team in sacks and seems to be getting constant pressure off the edge and even up the middle at times...

Another key LB pickup by Whaley along with Zach Brown

Yeah where did Lorax come from?? Where did we find him? Was he cleaning up isle 4 at a home depot like a sabotaged DMFR? where did this guy come from? He has been $$ for the most part. Much better than expected

Yes. Fire Whaley!

I want to say he was with New Orleans and Rob Ryan was pushing hard for him to come here...good call on his part, just don't let him call the plays, lmao

I think it is kinda proving Badol right, that fairly average LBs can excel in Rex's defense. Further evidenced by Zach and Preston Brown. But that is also a tribute to Rex in some degree.

Yep. Particularly on the outside. You look at Rex's defenses in New York and they never had what you would call a top tier pass rusher. They never had anyone as good as Jerry Hughes that is for sure and yet they always got pressure. Another reason why last season was such a disappointment.

I actually think Preston Brown is a pretty good player though. This is now two different defenses in 3 years he has looked good in. Last year for whatever reason he just didn't have the scheme down.

Credit to Lorax and Zach for the way they have stepped in and played following the injuries to our rooks, credit to Doug for finding them and credit to Rex, Rob and whoever else has been involved in coaching them up.

Not surprising...Alexander is Ryan's guy having played earlier for him in NY. He knows the system and he adapts to that system

Because Mario was always in front of him and being a lazy ass.

Alexander did not play for Rex in NY. He has never played for the Jets. His only previous exposure to Rex might be as a practice squad guy at Baltimore back in the day.

EDIT: After checking he was with the Ravens for just 5 days.
