A Few Thoughts About The Game, in no particular order.....

1) It looks to me as if Dareus took the money and simply stopped trying. If he applied any pass rush at all today I must have missed it. And let's stop kidding ourselves, OK? He is no longer anything that special against the run.

2) I am not going to blast Roman as much as the inadequate coaches on defense, but those wildcat plays to EJ simply must stop. The first one was funny. The second wasn't.

3) Jerry Hughes has a lot of heart, and he's a very good player.

4) I used to think that Miller had a chance to be a good guard. Sadly, those days are gone. He is clueless and light in the ass. No way is he as good as Urbik. Mills? We can pretend he is ok, but today he looked as if he has no business on an NFL roster.

5) I hate to say this, but I will. The Bills were not a worse running team when Shady got hurt. Karlos can play football folks. Sorry.

6) The bottles stand as empty,

as they were filled before.

Time there was and plenty,

but from that cup no more.

Though I could not caution all,

I yet may warn a few:

Don't lend your hand to raise no flag,

atop no ship of fools.

7) Because of Rex Ryan, the Bills are probably the worst team in the NFL right now, and I could live with this. It's not like this is unfamiliar footing if you will. But we are losing because the coach insists on stupidity and does not bring any discipline or accountability. I wish he didn't have 4 years left because if it was up to me, I would have fired him at halftime.

8) Hughes, the only member of our defensive line who provides any pass rush, spent much of the 1st half in unsuccessful pass coverage. Just a complete waste.

9) Watkins makes it look easy in the end zone, doesn't he?

10) You know, Tyrod had 79 rushing yards on 9 carries which is great imo. Much of this yardage was on scrambles. I wish Roman would call more designed running plays. Speaking of Tyrod, I am liking him more and more. Tyrod isn't a quitter. He is a good young quarterback who continues to improve and doesn't make many mistakes.

11) I give up. What happened on that 1st quarter punt?

12) The teams we are losing to are so-so at best. We make them look like superstars, especially opposing quarterbacks.

13) McKelvin surprised me today. I didn't think that he could play so poorly.

14) There was actually a glimmer of hope at the very end of the 3rd quarter. We had them at 3rd and 16. We used a 3 man rush and Cousins, with all week to throw, completed a pass with ease. I never, ever thought we were this kind of weak, non-aggressive team. :(

15) In case I don't get around to it later this week, allow me to wish every one of you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas filled with joy. This forum is great and has been for years.

Great stuff Bill as always, #5 you mean Shady not Sammy.

I agree the disciple on this team is terrible and it has been a constant all season.

The defense has been the biggest disappointment in this season, it is now officially mediocre.

Good post. Its been so long since we've been above average. Now that it is officially over it is back to the drawing board. Decisions need to be made about next year about a bunch of different positions as well as on the coaching staff.

The defense is passive. Everyone plays very reactionary. It's like the very opposite of a Rex Ryan defense.

I think you can blame it on a learning curve, but they have had 14 games to figure it out now.

#5 I think you mean McCoY. But yeah you're right. Stupid trade. Now all the personnel mistakes are coming back to haunt us

Actually I think they are better when both play, makes it tough for teams to focus on one style. When Shady was out and Karlos was main back he did not do nearly as well. In this NFL it is great to have both types of backs.

"Learning curve"? Don't you see the problem with that? This team didn't need a learning curve, not on defense anyway. Ryan made the Bills regress from excellent to mediocre. "Learning curve" my b****. The only blame rests with Coach Clown.

How about Woods?

He pushes off the defender, goes out of bounds and can't catch the ball for a TD.

NIce catch and run by the son of the legend. (he wasn't out of bounds)

not sure who his father is, but his grandfather is one helluva golfer.

The defense is so destroyed I can't even talk about it.

As for the offense - Roman was trying to stick it to someone today. Just a hunch, but I feel strongly about it. There is something going on behind the scenes.

The running plays to the backup QBs after the team had moved the ball to red zone? Yeah that crap has followed Rex from NY. But even if so Roman blows too.

When a head coach is hired with a specific expertise, they run their side of the ball. The idea that Rex wouldn't run the D is wishful, magical thinking.

And now that we have Rex here, what is the point in building around a 4-3 defense? Mario and Kyle are aging and injured. Maybe we could have one more top 5-6 season from the boys but then what?

We would be starting over again.

yep. Which brings up the first point in the thread, about Dareus.

He made the comment in TC about preferring to just get after the QB instead of making a bunch of reads and/or other responsibilities.

The guy has the ability to beat a guard off the ball, take him off balance, getting enough leverage to let his pure power to take over.

But to me at least, he looks like he's continuously in 2 gap protection, is usually head up on an OL and isn't given the chance to use his speed/power combination.

In other words, he's been neutered and relegated to a space eater.

And that's just a bad idea.

Bill- Merry Christmas to you and your family. As fas as the game, I've been done for two weeks and just had time today to grab a beer with my dad, but don't care at this point.

Next week and the finale, eh. Win-Lose whatever. We're still less than average, and regressed from last year. That's saying a lot since it was Maroon.

I don't care if they lost a bunch lately, I'd still take Dan Quinn over Rex in a heartbeat. I bet Scwartz would have stayed for Quinn.

12) "The teams we are losing to are so-so at best. We make them look like superstars, especially opposing quarterbacks"

This is the piece that amazes me. The bootlegs in the first quarter were eating up yardage. Gruden has featured bootlegs passes at Cinci and Wash yet we looked ill prepared. It makes you wonder what goes on during the week to prepare for the opponent.

A Redskin offense that managed twice in the last month to post 250 yards offense put up 431 against the Bills.

All I want for Christmas is to hear that Wrex is gone. Too freaking painful to watch a top tier defense that we only get once a decade get turned into a joke by this ham-fisted fool. I can't stand another year with him at the helm.

Wrex. Good one!
