What is better, no guns, or more guns?

Like reality vs Ideology

I think that’s the position of a small minority. Most politicians and leaders I’ve seen on this issue are advocating laws around future purchases and any “confiscation” of guns would actually just be voluntary buybacks.

Remember that the Dems had a trifecta, including a filibuster proof majority in the senate in 2008. If they wanted to take people’s guns, that would have been the time to try it. Instead, they blew all of their political capital on trying to get people healthcare.

They spent the capital allowing the industry to codify a very profitable system.  that kinda missed the mark.

And the people that dont sell them back?  The criminals that are not even in that formula.  and commit most of the gun crime?

I cannot believe you guys are yapping back and forth about guns or no guns for hours on end. The story behind this particular shooting is NOT the guns used. That’s not the distinguishing characteristic. The story is that a trans person wrote a murder/suicide letter and proceeded to carry it out. What’s happening here?

Carry on.

Nope.  The story is that a crazy person receiving psychiatric care  was able to buy multiple guns from multiple gun shops in a backward state with almost no restrictions on guns.

Folks, mankind - sorry, Humankind did it.

We corrected and got right all the silly reasons that required a Bill of Rights.

There are no more Hitler-Mao-Stalin like threats in the world and never will be.

Crime has ended.  You don’t need to protect yourself.

There is no need for a police force - you know the people you call that show up with guns for some ridiculous reason.  You don’t need those anymore anyway.  You’re safe.  Everywhere.  But if not, call 9-11 they will be there shortly.  You’ll be safe in the meantime.

But crime has ended anyway and humans now love each other and there is no threat.

You don’t see Congressmen - sorry, persons, calling for Civil War.

You don’t see any violent protests in your city streets or on your property or at our nation’s capital.

And, you don’t see any hint of meltdown in our collective mental health

Even if it's the 2nd or 3rd leading killer shouldn't we want to fix that lol?   Cmon literally you make no point.  A politician twisted a statistic?!!  Please call out the hundreds of Republicans that will twist stats today and every time these shootings occur.

How do you fix evil?

We have tens of thousands of gun laws on the books today in the United States. None of them stop someone who is determined to do harm to others. I continue to say it, Nice France.... a lunatic with a truck killed nearly 90 people and injured over 400. Evil found a way. 2016 in Sagamihara, Japan. Evil managed to kill nearly 20 people and injured another 25. Evil found a way.

Criminals aren't going to register their firearms or go to a FFL to do a background check when they get a stolen gun off from a fellow gang member.

99% of gun owners aren't going to ever commit a criminal act with that firearm. Studies have shown that licensed conceal carry folk are even less likely to commit a violent crime than police officers. You can't punish someone like me, who served this country, because of a crazy 28 year old trans kid from Nashville.

I'll also say it again, we can protect our children but we have to finance the schools. Do that before we finance a proxy war in Ukraine. $30-50 billion could go to do what my school has done.... invest in real security cameras, safety glass at the door, double entry at the entrance (you have to be buzzed into the main lobby, then buzzed into the hall. Only the front office allows people in and they look at the camera first. Resource officers. Allow front office workers to carry/have access to firearms with the proper training. As a former member of the military and competitive shooter, I'd go through extra training by LEO to protect this school. Etc. etc. The loon in Nashville stated she went after her former school over another school because the LACK OF SECRUITY. If a school was allowed to arm itself, that deterrence is MASSIVE. No school that has armed staff has had a school shooting during school hours. Ever.

If you look at the past 20-30 years, the span that school shootings and even "mass" shootings have increased, so has the amount of psychotropic medications prescribed. We lead the WORLD in psychotropic medication used... anti-depressants, ADHD meds, etc. That number has spiked drastically over the past 20-30 years. Same span that we've seen these shootings occur. Coincidence?

That alone doesn't fix it when parents teach kids to blast shotguns from the hip and laugh when their spouse falls from the recoil of a double barrel 12 gauge load of buck shot.  Other than that, I agree.

its a two tier system. people need to have a serious change in respect for what a fire arm is and what it is ultimately capable of inflicting on people. im just as tired of the parent leaving loaded guns by their bedside "accident" stories as i am of the criminal murder who was previously caught illegal carrying out on some bond or parole for the umpteenth time having another opportunity. if im asking for harsher sentances so people are petrified to carry guns illegally then i also have to be for negligence charges for those who legally own guns but are not responsible with that right and a system with huge cracks that allow mentally unstable to aquire them.

both sides shovel responsible legal owners into the conversation they shouldn't be.

Yah the only thing wrong is your trying to change the US into a socialist country . Some Californians & NYers do that they hate the high taxes & the laws there & move to states like Fl. & Tenn. then vote for those that believe the way the politicians did where they came from& eventually the things they try to get away from are where they are living now .

Hey that's almost like when the pilgrims came to America to get away from the over taxing that the King was doing in England & to get away from the central banking system that were screwing people over in that country but look at the US today it's exactly the same or worse but that's okay because we get "FREE STUFF" !!!

you apparently see things in black and white (dualism).  I see a spectrum.  btw, i wouldn't live in either of those states if they paid me 6 figures.  Nashville is actually really nice but it's in an awful state.

Where did I say any of those things? I am talking about correlation. Socioeconomics play a part in crime, as in gangs/drugs/etc. Has really nothing to do with a kid who goes into a school to shoot other kids.

Economics isn't the only "societal variable" that has changed in 30 years. You can include social media in that correlation. It has been devastating to our society.

No dualism just plain black & white that's the things that are wrong today way to much grey area today . Apparently you are either to young or just don't care about history & to short sighted to see what this countries history tried to get away from & yet has become the same that it ran from . I won't say that i would rather live any where else because even with all of it's faults America is still the best country in the world !!

That being said America has become Fat, Lazy and entitled the people feel just because we live here we should have to be given entitlements, reparations for things that happened in the past & not have to work for them any more and have lost their balls !! With all that then you throw in a bunch of politicians that try to make every one happy which you can't do & give them every thing they think they need welcome to present day America .

A country with no consequences for anything which is a huge reason why there is so many that have shunned the bible & it's teaching because they want to live in a law less society to do what they want how they want when they want & do it by there rules & screw right or wrong .

No those things didn't kill kids but the things you list can indoctrinate children to this anything goes mentality which sorry but black is black & white is white.

If you as a ADULT person want to use pronouns go for it that's your prerogative, if you want to choose a different sexual life style go for it, If you as a "Adult" want to change your body go for it, but don't push your life style on me & mine i will raise my child & grand children to know things as they are intended what ever you believe how we became to be here & respect those that feel & believe differently until they PUSH or infringe their thoughts on me that's when i push back .

My belief is you can take a standard bolt & with enough force make a metric nut work on that standard bolt & it will hold not as strong but it will, but that isn't the way it was meant to be in it's inception & there will be ramifications to forcing things such as that . It will not hold as strong, as long & will only have 1 use and then it's done it can;t be used over again where if it is used as intended it can be reused over & over again .

But apparently common sense has no place today it's kind of like the thoughts of electric is best but charge them with diesel generators & use a machine that takes 1200 gallons of fuel per day to dig up the minerals needed to make the batteries welcome to the new world order ...

Make it harder to get guns so that fewer psychos have access.   That's a big first step everyone should support.   Draw a line (I'm no expert so I won't say where) on which weapons are for the military/police and which for the public.

2 steps that should be supported by all but will not be.
