  1. I wouldn't expect this to change - teams also know that Josh will hold the ball a long time and want to exploit those tendencies
  2. I'm totally onboard with any pre-snap motion or wrinkle that's designed to confuse or slow the defense. For way too long, we ran offenses that didn't challenge or weren't diverse enough It's so refreshing to be on the FRONT end of trends these days and leading the lead in positive offensive stats This, more than most anything else, is why we are 7-2 this season
  3. It's the right move - rest up now, and be ready to play in 3 weeks coming off the bye week Now only if we had 1 competent linebacker on the squad...
  4. I'd take Bortles as a flyer on the practice squad. What's the down side?
  5. Let's pump the brakes a little bit on this one. Yes, we had high sack numbers, but we consistently got gashed by the run many times when he was with us. McDermott has chosen definitively over the last 4 years to be bend-not-break and disciplined vs the highly aggressive attacking style that Schwartz, Williams, Ryan and others preach. It's not sexy, and it does piss us off as fans from time to time, but it has proven to be mostly effective
  6. They should also have to bring in Greggggggggggg Williams as Defensive Coordinator and Rex Ryan as General Buffoon
  7. It's tough because the rule changes on kickoffs have essentially neutered the value of a good returner and return unit And special teams as a whole have become so much better over the last 20 years that there isn't such a disparity between teams or units. Not like it was in the 80's & 90's But Roberts is still a top-shelf returner, and key to this team's success. It's just that the big plays aren't going to be there like in past days. But consistency is still a plus
  8. what was the point of drafting a guy if you're not going to develop him and/or give him a chance to play a certain number of games? Of course, the flip side is that it wasn't hard for people to see early on that this guy is EJ Manuel 2.0 and you shouldn't need a long time to figure it out and move on
  9. If we can stay on this course with run defense, we're close to being in top form. Offenses will slow down as the season progresses too
  10. It's just like hockey - when you get a #1 Center, then your #2-4 guys have easier jobs and can look better facing lower quality lines Diggs makes all the other guys "fit" into their roles much better and honestly makes them much more open and improving their performance at the same time. That's why he was the perfect guy for this team at the perfect time.
  11. I know that Watkins & Evans were solid contributors pretty much right away as rookies, but Davis seems different. Mostly in that he doesn't have to be the man right away and is also contributing with blocking, solid route running, and complementing the top 3 guys. But you can definitely see a complete #1 receiver for us in the future
  12. Derek Carr is exactly the kind of QB that you don't want to have on your team in this day and age Takes no chances in the pass game Not particularly athletic Leadership? Meh Puts up decent stats without the playmaking ability to back it up Really isn't getting better Doesn't play big against top competition You need to either have a top 5-10 elite guy to pay for consistent excellency, or a guy on a rookie contract that either balls out or can be easily replaced by another draft pick Anything in the middle is not particularly useful - Cousins, Stafford, Carr, Ryan, Dalton/Flacco (before they got replaced)
  13. He's like 2002 Eddie Robinson bad. I cringe every time I see him on the field, knowing that he's going to get picked apart somehow
  14. I might be inclined to trade away a low first round pick every year for an elite and cost-controlled player like Diggs. Of course, saying that doesn't necessarily mean there's a ton of those guys out there to be had, but there's something to be said for knowing what you're getting, and getting it right away when you're ready to win. Versus having to take the time and resources to hope that your rookie can develop and pan out
  15. Bills fans know the areas where Josh Allen passes the eye test. He's never going to be a "traditional" QB. Which is absolutely fine, given that model is quickly being debunked for good by several current outstanding QB's. We also know how much he's improved, and is still improving. Stats prove it, and so do the team's results We also love watching him. He excites us more than any QB we've ever had on the team, arguably. To be where he is after ~ 30 starts is incredible. Don't think for one second that after watching the 2018 draft that you wouldn't be ecstatic with where we are now. Everything else is just noise
  16. This is not a problem Repeat, this is not a problem Let's focus on winning by THROWING the football
  17. Successful screen plays will only open up the downfield passing game even more. This is the evolution of complimentary football that we were hoping for from Brian Daboll. Now that they have all the weapons, there's no excuse for lazy play-calling
  18. Remember - next year, we'll be waking up late on Friday morning with a hangover from celebrating the raising of the banner the night before
  19. It's Matt Patricia all the way. His players already openly hate him
