Will also make a disclaimer that all of them could be gone tomorrow if Beane got a decent trade off. But would be less likely IMO to see them get cut. Having said that: I think Croom will stick as TE is a tough position for a rookie to come in so can see Know being inactive the first month or so of the season. Sweeney as a 6th rounder will likely be on the PS Same could happen with Teller too though may be afraid there to expose him to others grabbing him. Do think Vlad and Bodine are gone, they seem to like Sirles. I also think one of their O-line signings will get cut. People keep talking about how Long is better at guard. Wasn't one of the big issues he had was terrible snaps due to a torn ligament? Was his blocking as a center worse than as a guard or was it strictly snapping the ball? Also agree with DiMarco likely gone Wouldn't be shocked to see them trade McCoy.

While I think Knox can likely develop into a strong TE by year 2 or 3 (as has been mentioned in other threads, TX is a position that typically takes time to develop) , wouldn't be shocked to see him inactive at least the first month of the season. So you start the year off with Croom, Kroft, and Smith. Good chance a month into the season one of them gets hurt anyway, put him on IR, then start activating Knox.

Veteran TE or Assistant Coach?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well I think to qualify as a former player, you need to have played more than about 2 weeks! You can see how much it helped with his nephew Chad! -
If you want to add in coaches salaries you'd also then need to add in salaries being paid to fired coaches. That would really hurt teams that have been weak for year like Buffalo and keeps firing coaches. So better be careful what you ask for. or you're really a Pats fan as your idea would likely help them much more than it would hurt them..

Who makes the Practice Squad
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to joevan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
could be right, but no one would know that for a couple years, so certain another team would grab him as soon as he were cut. Likely anyone drafted higher than 6th round would have trouble making it onto the practice squad without being grabbed by another team. I think now that Anderson retired, Buffalo for similar reasons may not want to expose him to be picked up by another team so he makes the 53, unless looks very shaky in camp and pre-season. If Anderson were still here, then would agree with Jackson to PS and take your chances. If he gets picked up, oh well, but now may be more concern. -
Trade Lawson and a 2020 draft pick for Clowney?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who's preformed better over the past 3 to 4 year OBJ or Clowney? In spite of all the off field antics OBJ and he was only worth a first. Antonio Brown got a 3rd. It has to be a real top super star to give u pa first, Clowney is not that. I'd be shocked if a team gave a up a 1st for him, and just hope it's not the Bills. 3rd, go for it, 2nd maybe, I'd try and also get a 4th or 5th back then too. PS If you gave me a choice I'd rather give up a 1st for AJ Green than Clowney. -
CBS Sports predicts Bills will land Ziggy
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As long as he stay healthy then yes, but that's been his issue. This year though may have enough other depth around him that if he is out, likely won't be missed as much. -
As long as he has football in his life he has structure and seems to do OK then. So likely through any practices, OTA, camp, etc, he'll likely do well, as well as 36 YO who hasn't played in a year can do I should preface that with. But if he gets cut, then all bets are off, and likely he'll even realize then at 36 he's done. Time to get the kids off the streets and hide the guns and women as who knows what may happen next.

As has been stated doubt Jones would be available and/or at too high of a price. Clowney hasn't exactly lived up to the hype. Think I'd rather go after McCoy from Tampa at a much lower price tag. He's much older, but am only looking at him as at most a two year player. Next year make either DE or OB as your 5 star free agent signing and use high draft pick on whichever you don't sign.

Grading the Draft Graders?....
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No you're the one taking things to seriously. you started the thread not me for the purpose of complaining how 2 supposedly identical takes got different grades. And you then gave the writer an "F" Only people who have very thin skins start threads over things that are completely subjective, but God help anyone who is critical! -
Grading the Draft Graders?....
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ahhhh Did he hurt your feelings?? Poor Baby!! It's his opinion, just like it's your opinion that INTERPRETATION of the two paragraphs say they same thing. The first one stated " However, the real work of art by New England in this draft lies in how it navigated the board for its next couple of picks." The Bills did none of that so for the first paragraph this was worth the A and is more valuable than what the Bills did and didn't do. They are not the same, but you choose to put on your Bills colored glasses and somehow come to the conclusion they are the same and then get all upset because the writer didn't see it that way. So wheres' your intellectual honesty? There is none except you choose to read words that fit your narrative. -
Penalties are becoming a problem again
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what were the league averages those same years? Were they up? Maybe there were more penalties called last season overall, don't know. Without knowing that part, no idea if this is really getting worse or not or is it a league trend, just caused by tighter/more calls. Having said that I'll also agree with many other who blame it on lack of talent and also player churn, i.e. inexperience, tweaking the lineup, etc. All the pre-snap penalties can be attributed to new QB and many new/different lineman. -
#1 I'd be OK with trading for Clowney, Maybe one of the Oline just signed and while I somewhat hate to part with him, would offer Lawson as he'd become a bit more expendable with signing Clowney #2 Why would you trade even a 6th rounder for a guy who at best would be the number three TE behind Kroft and Dawson. And personally I think Croom is better than many here think so not certain Brate wouldn't fall to the #4 TE #3 I'd trade for Green too, but think he could be had for less than #1. Teams only give up #1's for true superstars and don't think he's at that level. I know Dallas gave up a #1 for Cooper, but that was a mid-season trade and most felt at the time they overpaid. I'd offer Zay Jones and a 3rd or something similar.

Many on this board last year were stating how the team was crazy to expect a 5th round draft pick to be in anyway productive as a QB. In hindsight they were correct, now we want to keep an un-drafted guy at the expense of Anderson? Barring an amazing training camp from him, you cut him and assign him to practice squad, if another team else signs him, so be it, not a big loss.
-
Assuming Hughes has a good to decent season, can't see him then agreeing to a one year deal, why would he if other teams will sign him for two or three years? He's not that old that with another good season behind him some team will give him a better than one year deal. So what would be the impact of signing the 5th year option for Lawson, and then turn around next Feb and cut him. Thought I read a couple months back that was an option? Is there a cap hit to do that? And how much of a hit?
-
Agree And you cut TJ and assign him to practice squad. If another team signs him good for him. This guy was undrafted for a reason. Too many Buffalo fans are thinking with their heart here and not there head. Anderson doesn't get any salary until week 1 other than signing bonus, so would be somewhat surprised to see him voluntarily retire during camp. I'd be a little pissed if I were him if Buffalo were to cut him, certainly pissed enough that if Allen were to get hurt and they call me to come back, I'd then maybe think with my heart instead of head and tell them no!

Dion Dawkins- on the hot seat?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good thing we have a tall QB. Can you imagine Flutie behind that line! They'd all be out with concussions from getting hit in the back of the helmet too many times with the football. -
Potential Day 3 Targets
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BuffaloHokie13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One prediction I'll make, not really a Day 3 pick though. Starting tonight and Sunday, they Bills will probably sign a dozen or so undrafted rookies. Barring some late pick ups from cut players between now and September, any undrafted LB's they sign, may have the best chance to make the final roster as feel LB is currently the thinnest position on the roster. -
RD 3, Pick 96: TE Dawson Knox, Ole Miss
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So you'd rather have low round picks who based on pure numbers may not even make the team? I'm hoping they take their one remaining fifth and sixth to trade back into the bottom of 4th!- 545 replies
