  1. Didn't think he'd do it on New Years Day.
  2. Hope this doesn't come to be but.... Not sure if Anderson actually wants to play at all, so could see if say halfway through the year or so if Barkley or Allen were to get hurt, that would make Anderson the #2 guy by default. Could see them instead cutting him and signing someone else. This deal was made to help Allen's development. During the off-season, training camp etc, can see that being a big help. By next Nov or so, not sure there'd be as much benefit so could see them moving on if they need another QB.
  3. I'd offer Hughes and extension and also McCoy. In McCoy's case at a reduced incentive based deal for maybe 3 years and that he can easily be cut if he doesn't make certain incentives. If McCoy says no to it, then you release him. While McD and Beans both stated they want McCoy back (At this time of year talk is cheap) they didn't necessarily state they want him back on the current contract either.
  4. Really,m he's ranked 56 in receptions and 59 in yards. If you divided that by 32 teams, says he's a low #2 and a low #2 on a team without a #1 and even a #3. Can he be improved on sure, lets sign Julio Jones, Antonio Brown and OBJ, that would make Zay a #4, so then you'd be correct. But reality is even if they were all available and you could sign them, you'd never be able to afford 3 WRs of that caliper, so having a guy of Zay's capabilities as a #2 or better slot guy, plus add Foster in there as the #2, what the team still needs is a #1 which no one would dispute. Croom as a #2 TE also isn't bad, with better players around him would be a good #2. McCoy I'd renegotiate his contract add a year or two, but at a much lower incentive based contract. Sign two FA lineman, 1 to 2 WR, plus draft one of each and aTE and you have a solid offense. Not nearly as bad as this thread makes it out to be.
  5. I'd like to see the Bills sign of the one top three FA interior lineman available, maybe the center Paradis. Then I'd try to sign another good lineman, maybe one that is over 30 that you can sign for a shorter contract, 2 to 3 years. My thinking is this guy is a short term move and in the 2020 draft you use a high pick on his replacement. For 2019 you now have Dawkins, Teller, two FA signings and would use a fairly high pick this year on one other lineman with the plan to start him in Sept. How high I think it depends on how likely the Bills are to move Dawkins to another position. If that is true, then I'd more like to see them draft a LT in the 1st round (Q Nelson excluded, you typically don't need to use 1st round picks on interior lineman) If not moving Dawkins then maybe a 2nd or a 3rd rounder on a lineman. Also like to see them sign two WR, again one real good one, and another decent one, and also use a higher draft pick on a WR too. I'd resign Hughes, for McCoy based on his output think I'd offer to extend him this year for 2 to 3 years at a fairly substantial reduced incentive based contract. If he declines, then time to move on as don't think he's worth his present contract based on his age. McD and Beane both said they want McCoy back, but they didn't specify at what cost. I'd also use draft picks on their replacements for a year or two down the road.
  6. I don't disagree with anything you say about Beane. I too think he is doing a very good job and unlike some here would be very sorry to see him or McD go, but when it comes to QB, still say it's more luck when you look at how many high picks flame out. It's not that all these other GM's are clueless/
  7. Must be a troll, No one can be this big of a dope??
  8. LUCKY I like Beane and MCD and feel like the team finally did get it right there. But finding a QB is more luck than anything. If the GM of NE was so smart why did he wait until the 6th round to draft Brady, why not take him in the 3rd to make sure they had him. Excluding Indy twice (Peyton and Luck) Rams with Goff and a small handful others taken at #1 when you look at the rate of finding very good to great QB's the rate is less than 50% so when you do get him it's more luck than anything. Why did Beane wait until #7 to get Allen, someone easily could have jumped ahead of them. If that had happened, at the time he likely would have been almost as happy with Rosen.
  9. So what are we at 8 teams total now looking for new HC? Miami Jets Bengals Cleveland Denver Tampa Green Bay Cardinals Still waiting on other potential names Jax (Supposedly safe) Carolina Redskins Steelers (I'll throw them on he list, think Tomlin has worn out his welcome last two years)
  10. Depending on the FA moves made by the Bills, if they look like they'll be a somwhat improved team, wouldn't be surprised to see a Monday or Thursday night game against Cleveland to have Mayfield vs Allen. I'm sure the prelim schedule is worked on very soon, but likely tweaked after the first few weeks of FA to see how the landscape looks for next year.
  11. Makes it easy when you have the arm to get away with it as opposed to TT who lacked an arm.
  12. Based on comments by McD will be surprised if Crossman doesn't go. Castillo will more be up to what Dabo thinks. As to the comment about Beane not having the clout, typically assistant coaches hirng/firing are at the decision of the HC, not the GM. Does the GM ultimately OK the deal, yes, but more of a rubber stamp of the HC.
  13. NO! It must be motivation for the pro Bowl!!
  14. Can see that concept working when you have another game in a week. Hard to do the right thing when your next chance won't be for another 8 months
  15. Bill Cowler was commenting how impressed he is with him and how he's going to become a great coach. Guess that makes me real happy we never did get Cowler to come here to coach as he must really be clueless if he thinks McD is a good coach as many on this board much more knowledgeable about the game than Bill Cowler is have already told us that McD is a terrible coach. Who can argue with the experts around here?
  16. True but the list isn't very long. Plus in between he coached in the CFL a few years too and did well. As opposed to Gase going from Miami to immediately being hired by another team.
  17. LOL! Well I suppose you could add Dougie to the list too, though he also makes the list of HC that may be fired tomorrow.
  18. While I agree with the premise, the list of who's succeeded isn't very long. Besides BB who else is on the list of bad at first location and greatness afterwards? I'm sure there are a few, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. Tom C overall was good in Jax, eventually ran out his welcome, went to the Giants and was about the same, but with two super bowl wins
  19. LOL! When I first read the title, thought it said " and emotional sites out there" Was thinking you can't get much more emotional that this place!
  20. Has to make you wonder some if they are? I mean why would the owner or whoever is above the GM who's job is secure allow a person about to be fired to extend a guy for 4 years? But maybe that's why they are the NY Jets!
  21. But his plan was to draft a guard (which I also agree with) Unless you absolutely feel you need to move Dawkins elsewhere, you typically don't need to use a first rounder on a guard or a RT. Will Dawkins likely be an all pro LT probably not, but do think he's adequate particularity when you surrond him with better talent. Plus his plan was to sign a RT from Carolina, so if you want to move Dawkins and signed another RT, where you moving him to? You've pretty much completely blown up the OP's original plan which is fine, but then who else are you signing. While I agree that it's easier to sign WR and RB than LT, the question is do we need really need a LT? True Teller hasn't proved anything, but neither has any rookie you draft either.
  22. That's the problem when the GM and coach weren't hired together. Regardless of what many here will argue, don't think the order of which comes first is that important, just that they both support eachother.
  23. I'm on board with most of your plan, though probably would pass on the 2nd WR Conley/White and instead use a2nd day draft pick on a rookie there instead. Rest I like. As for Bell, I'd be OK wit ha short term contract, though would be shocked to see Bell take that, the only was is if he way over valued his worth and no one else in all that interested. I think he will end up in Indy, but can see him talking to the Jet's and Bills to try and drive up the offers. Like to see them trade down to get and extra 2nd and/or 3rd rounder. Then could potentially use 1str rounder on DL, 2nd on guard and WR, 3rd on RB and BPA maybe another lineman?
