  1. 3 years has seemed to have become the standard length a coach lasts without making the playoffs. Though do think after three years if there's obvious improvement, buys them an extra year. Barring a return this coming season to like 2 or 3 win season. McDermott making the playoffs in his first season likely buys him a 4th year. I also think Pegula strikes me as wanting to be a patient person, even though he got rid of Ryan quickly with good reason. In the case of Williams and Galley, seemed after three years things had got worse not better too. Also in Galley's case, wasn't he hired by Marv but he was gone by the time he was fired? Don't see Fred Smerles favorite coach listed Hank Bullouh (sp) If Fred had ever been inducted into the HOF, I'm sure Hank would have been his presenter.
  2. Well I guess then he must want to throw a bunch of bad passes too then that in prior years didn't seem to happen. Granted when the chips were down the passes got completed, but sure saw many more bad passes than I did in prior years.
  3. Reading the article, the comment that surprised me the most was it listed Nick Foles as 6'6 and around 240 lbs. Is that correct, or was it a mistake and was really referring to Wentz? Didn't think foles was anywhere near that big.
  4. You wonder what's really going through his mind, I till got it lets go for #7 next year, or does he realize he just completed a season somewhat similar to Peyton Manning's last year. Even in this years Super Bowl, he threw many bad passes and all regular season he was often shaky. Granted in the 4th quarter both against KC and the Rams, he was vintage Brady (and vintage Gronk). I'd think Brady would step down before going out like Manning, the question is does he truly think he's still got it or is he beginning to realize he's struggling. Probably the best thing for him would be for Gronk to retire and use the $9 mil or so he was being paid on other younger WR's nd TE. The one thing he does have going is it seems like his line has turned around and is much improved. Can recall a couple years back the line was very shaky.
  5. And all the problems were due to issues with the assistants!
  6. My thought exactly. I already let Beane know. True and the scoring in our league is PPR for WR 1 point for every 15 yards, so need TD's to rack up the points. There were many weeks he didn't make his projection. I also have Fornette, so need to decide between the two. Fornette had a terrible year, but will see if he does get cut/traded or they gear the offense around him.
  7. I'll be surprised if this works out in Miami. No way to know how much is BB and how much is this guy, but based on number of failures of BB assistants I'd be rather skeptical.
  8. Just read an article praising Tracy Wolfson for handling it like a pro and blaming it on security. You can argue security let it get out of hand or can argue security was lettign the players enjoy their moment without being bothered by reporters. I'll go with the 2nd one! Kind of reminded me of the Peter Rose Jim Grey interview And to the poster who commented she shouted the entire time, that's the only voice I've ever heard from her.
  9. They do it every year. Didn't see anything about when the pooling ends, likely goes up to the end of the game. So if you want to submit your choice early you can, but lam sure most wait until the end or very close to it to name their choice.
  10. They used a #1 on a WR last year, plus have Sanu. I can tell you I'm ready to give up on him as he's my keeper on my fantasy team and his numbers have been pretty low. He'll have a couple of monster games, but overall too many people to throw the ball to down there.
  11. Well when you have the best RB in the league (at least for the first 14 weeks or so) and arguably one of the top defensive talents in the league if not #1 and one of top rated young healthy QB's in the league, it's easy to look like a genius HC. I think he has a very short window to win as once they extend Goff and others will be hard to keep the bulk of the team together. And once a team is considered great the value of all their pending FA's becomes elevated compared to other FA with other teams
  12. Plain and simple whining! Again there can be calls every play if you'd like. I recall back in the 90's people in Western NY who were not Bills fans always complaining about how obnoxious Bills fans were and how they'd get all the calls in their favor. Now the shoe's on the other foot as they say!
  13. Stop your whining, there's holding on every play. You need to find something a lot better than that to complain about.
  14. True story, years ago went on a bus trip to a Bills game, bus company had a problem with the bus we were supposed to get so instead sent two of these small 20 passenger mini buses. Enough seats for everyone, however only one of the buses had a bathroom. So now get to the stadium and all 40 or so people are using the bathroom on one bus. By the time the game ended, it was literately within about 1/2" of overflowing. So the two buses left the stadium, got up onto 219 and pulled over, the bus without the toilet pulled behind the other one to kind of shield the view from the highway. My bus driver then got out of the bus and pulled the plug along the side of 219! Can you imagine a couple hours later a state trooper or someone stopping on the side of the road wondering what is that pile? He probably called in a sighting of Big Foot is in the area!
  15. I really think the reason he got fired as fast as he did was more due to off the field things going on, i.e. showing up to a press conference wearing a Clemson helmet, having an ex player be the game day captain.. Can't recall other things similar anymore, but there were many. Those are the types of things regardless of the talent, won't change the person.
  16. I get it, but my point is the Bills could have blocked it or offered Culley a similar position here if they wanted. Makes me wonder if they were more on board with it and encouraged it.
  17. Started reading the thread at this point, saw Clemson coach who worked with Lawrence, thought you were suggesting bringing in JP!
  18. This kind of makes me think this was an agreed upon thing by the Bills! Or Culley read the tea leaves and figure Palmer is the guy Allen is getting his direction from not him.
  19. It may be Washington's only option as sounds like they don't have any $$ available to sign even a halfway decent FA. Even if Smith comes back the year after and does well he'd be what 38 by the 2020 season. Or they do sign a half way decent guy, the team may win 1/2 dozen games, enough to not have a high draft pick next year either. So pick up a a QB now, at leas then you have a reason to right the season off. Barring a miracle likely Gruden will be firedafter this sxeason anyway, so if I'm thr GM, I'd be more in favor of building for the future.
  20. could see where half way thru the season Allen gets hurt, so in theory Barkley is now the starter and Anderson the backup. But instead they cut Anderson and sign a new backup, then Anderson joins the coaching staff. Or better yet Anderson to IR due to a hang nail in case there's a rule forbidding a player to become a coach mid-season.
  21. Completely agree on a training camp type intern position.! The article quoted Kyle, "Ill be back in a couple of weeks for some house related stuff" so sounds like he's already left town. When he retired he commented one of the reasons was so he could spend more time with his kids, think he commented about currently often only being able to watch his kids game s via Facetime. Maybe they use to do that before the kids reached school age, but as stated above would be difficult for the kids to attend two different school systems during the year. As an aside the kids may enjoy that setup as go to school in NY i n the fall where school year starts later, then down south in the spring where the year ends early. My guess is the family is here in western NY though training camp, then wife and kids head south. Kyle likely flies down on their offs days maybe twice a month, a few extra days on their bye week, wife and kids will come north on a couple trips, maybe spend all of Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks here. But in between they're apart. Likely now that the kids are older they are complaining about making the trips north too as missing their own activities. So can't imagine him taking anything close to a full time coaching position at this point other than maybe his kids HS team in a few years.
  22. Agree, great mind, but think offenses have figured out enough how to counter his defense. So what does any good coach do, they come up with new wrinkles which Rex did. The problem though was Rex's new ideas became to complicated to execute. You heard more than once about players being confused and not know what to do. I think that was due to him over complicating things. You can argue that KC is the best team in the AFC next season, but alot can happen before they and NE end up meeting up in a playoff game.
  23. Where I'd locate them is along the side lines, behind the bench 20 feet up in the air in a scissor lift. They can share the space with the TV camera guy that goes up and down the sideline. You'd go back and forth along the line of scrimmage. My thought is a view from up high may be more helpful as the players keep getting bigger and fast in size.
  24. What I don't understand in a situation like that, when the play first happened they said on TV "The officials are huddled up" Why don't they just huddle up for an extra long time, talk about the weather, where to go eat after the game whatever, just to kill some time. And while they're huddled a couple of them look up out of the corner of their eye and watch the replay on the jumbotron. Then say oops, and throw the flag. Yes they'd get ripped for throwing a flag maybe 20 seconds later, but probably less so than what's happening now. And at least they 'd know the right call was made. They could always say we were just checking to make sure no one saw a tipped pass or something else and it took awhile to figure things out.
