Roll Call -Who’s going to the game?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is a little bit of a unique situation there in that every square mileof the city of Jax equals every square mile of Duval county. Believe it's the only city in America where the city engulfs the entire county. Think it also makes it the largest city in America in square miles because of this if I recall. I almost was going to go the game. Does that count? -
Certainly in court of public opinion he's guilty of lying, but legally he didn't lie if he believes or even if he doesn't really truly believe it will keep him from getting Covid. That was my point, technically he did didn't lie. In this thread, there were people stating he should be suspended, my response was if players and coaches were suspended for not being completely honest with the press, there'd be no players and coaches left. The other question that is still puzzling is how/why is Beasley doing these un masked interviews?? Could it be for all his screaming and yelling about this he's also lying just like Rodgers in that he actually has been vaccinated? But he's just such a strong believer in person freedoms that he's on this rant?? He wouldn't be the first to do this, but maybe the loudest!

I thought they were fined for some other more serious infraction, not just not wearing a mask. Not that I'm in any way condoning this but could argue, technically Rogers didn't lie his statement was “Yeah, I’ve been immunized,” He could easily argue that in his mind based on information he received he was immunized. And who is to say which doctor is more knowledgeable than another, he followed a doctors advise that he believes in. I mean there's a doctor that claims you'll become magnetized once you receive the vaccine. I'm sure he realizes it's not by the leagues definition but if lying to the press got a player or coach fined or suspended, there'd be no games played anymore. Having said that, it is another thing if he broke the rules for un vaxxed players which he can't argue didn't apply to him. Do wonder if the league amended the rules maybe not formally but as long as you're more than 10 feet from anyone interviewing you, you don't need to wear a mask?? Do agree something here isn't adding up. Could see the Packers not wanting to get into another confrontation with Rodgers, not going after him too hard on following all the rules to the exact letter of the law. But have to believe the league would step in and go after the team and seems like almost all the teams in the league are guilty.

Has league-wide officiating gotten worse?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
I tried to give two check marks, but the system won't let me. One of the arguments I've head for years is they like these bank presidents, attorneys, school district superintendents as officals as they make large enough salaries not to be influenced by bribes. The two big issues with this is: 1 With as much money as there is floating around today on betting, these guys don't make enough money to not consider a bribe. They need to sign Bill Gates and Warren Buffet as officials to stop that. 2 We're not watching Leave it to Beaver where Ward has breakfast at home, reads the paper with his coffee and then heads into the office around 9:00 and is back home to have his martini before dinner at 5:00. Guys that make the kind of money in those jobs are going into work and 7:00 in the morning and come home around 7 at night, then bring work home with them to look at for a couple hours. They don't have time to watch film, review the rule books, etc. The other general comments I'll make about the overall level of officiating is TV's and number of camera angles have got much sharper than refs gotten worse! -
I do think this is Beasley's last year on the team and do feel a top 3 starting WR group of Diggs, Davis and one more year of Sanders with a rookie drafted fairly high next season would be fine; making a move like that mid-season would set the offense back right now. You can't just write a guy like Beasley out of the game plan without losing something overall. Even bringing in a star at another position, likely would take some time for him to jell with the other players to see as big an improvement as what you're losing in Beasley.

Agree there. Could see them making some trade for depth, but nothing anyone is going to get all that excited about. Read a few potential trades yesterday, think it was in The Athletic, most involved 6th or 7th round picks in exchange for player making about $1 mil salary. Comments above about glaring needs, IMO that's a huge over statement as overall the Bills are in the top 10 if not top 5 in most offensive and defensive categories. Hard to say they have any glaring needs with the exception of the interior line and doubt you're trading for someone who's going to be a starter.

Bills Classless Again [Edit: FinHeaven message board]

This O-line is why the Bills won’t win it all this year.

Recall you posting that a month or so ago. Wonder was the assumption that the Bills were going to cut him or that Morse was going to retire maybe due to all the concussions?? Do wonder now based on his level of play will that change as seems to be playing much better than last year.? -
Somethings GOT to be done a the interior o line

I don't know, thought there was some comments made back in the spring that sounded like they didn't. Or maybe they asked him to lose weight, but not that much?? Also kind of interesting that last year sounded like Epenesa lost more weight than what appeared to be a good idea and what was suggested. Maybe the training staff suggested it, but the players went above and beyond?? Two years in a row with different players?? Where there's smoke there's fire as they say! Something's going on?? -

Morse has been a pleasant surprise overall. Do wonder if Dawkins still is not 100% back from Covid. Brown has a good future, issue is at guard Could see them signing a top level FA guard and draft a center/guard either to start next season or sit one year behind maybe Williams or Morse. Assuming Dawkins is back to his 2020 level and Brown has a year under his belt, add FA guard and maybe another rookie starter and could improve quickly. -

Think they need to stop running on 1st downs as the line isn't good enough to move bodies when the defense expects it. On the other side, Allan can make poor line play look better with his ability to move around it and his strength. They can have some success at running when defense doesn't expect it as much. -

He only fumbles punts once in a while! -
In fairness Tua played pretty well today, can't say they lost because of him. Two turnovers and easy missed field goal did them in.

The “math” of going for 2 makes no sense
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with point #1, though can also make the argument going for two early allows you to know what you need to do later on. Having said that does seem strange that Miami went for 2 when they did unless they just wanted to play for the win not a tie, but still seemed awful early to be worrying about that. -

Sounds like the Bills didn't know anything about it either. Wonder if they'd have resigned him if they had? O-line play takes some time for players to jell together so not sure unless you were to get a real top star, how much improvement you'd really see at least short term. You could easily improve depth, but that's not the issue, its the starting guards. Who knows Feleciano may have taken care of the issue as looked hurt at the end. That could also more force a trade too. Morse has looked better than expected and think we're good at both tackles. In the off season I'd sign a top FA guard and also draft in maybe 2nd or 3rd a center/guard to become starter in 2023. -
Halloween ‘21 Gameday Bills vs Dolphins PreGame Thread
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bill Cowler just commented that feels the Bills defense is the best due to the tightness of McD and Frasure. He said it reminds him of how it was with him and Dick Lebeau and that Lebeau and Frasure were the calming influence and him and McD were the storm. -

It probably means when you have 11 D lineman, there will be 3 inactive every week. If we want less, trade one by Tuesday. It does seem the Obada experiment has fizzled. Or the others are just so much better. -
Darryl Johnson Inactive
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall
In Buffalo yes, apparently not so much in Carolina as only active two games and 10 snaps and sounded like they were on the D line, not ST. -

So update He's been active two games and has played a total of 10 snaps and zero tackles, assists, etc. He's also out this week with a knee injury. Good chance if the Bills want him back he'll be a season end cut by the Panthers. Basically could give the Bills a free 6th rounder -
Saw that two, there are 2 of them https://www.panthers.com/team/players-roster/spencer-brown/

Spencer Brown likely out vs Phins, back injury
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Last time when Mongo was out was the same week they changed everything else up and went with Brown and Williams inside along with Ike starting. This would be the opposite side for Ike, maybe for that reason they stick with Ford. But last time when Mongo was out, I'd have expected them not to change up the other side the same week and just make one change and play Ike, maybe then switch up the other side the next week. But they weren't afraid that time to make 3 changes on the line. So wouldn't rule out Ike as the starter at all IMO
