11/14/21 Postgame Thread: Bills at Jets
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
So am wondering, was that just because they decided to change things up or were Sanders and Beasley hurt, or game just out of hand by then so they sat? It was kind of all at end of game, only a little scattered throughout, so that makes me wonder about injury? Not as many dumb penalties, couple of the holding calls on Dawkins are bit concerning. Just don't think he's 100% Have no idea on the personal foul call against AJ, didn't see anything that looked bad on replay?? A fair amount of long pass completions too by Jets on 3rd and 4th downs that kept drives alive. Also many long passes by Bills too for a change. -
11/14/21 Gameday Bills at Jets Pregame Thread

If he drops a pass, he needs to be cut. Don't care if he has a cast on! -
OK that's what I thought too

I've made the comment here before and other posters didn't seem to think that was the case, that the coaching staff wanted him to lose the weight, that it wasn't a surprise. Glad to hear someone else state that, maybe I'm not imagining things!

IMO this past off-season the moves that could be questioned around the O-line were resigning Mongo and Williams. But if you let them both walk, could they have signed anyone better for the money they had available. To me that was the issue this past year was lack of much money to work with. You could have also not reworked Addison's or Butlers contracts and let them go maybe even not draft Basham in round 2. But then potentially would be weaker on the D line and that was the biggest area last off season folks here wanted to see improved. Overall based on last years performance, there were more concerns about the D line than the O line. Is still hard to figure out how the same 5 guys look so much worse this year. May be that Dawkins is still recovering from Covid. Mongo and Ike look worse than last season, not sure what happened there. Will be interesting to see how much better they look this week with Brown back and Williams inside.

Curious, is there an actual IPTV website where it explains the details??? For $60 the first year ($120 starting 2nd year) you can subscribe to Paramount + which includes the old CBS All access and change the IP address of where you are to watch the games out of local Buffalo station. Doesn't help you with the games on Fox, but with the Bills being an AFC team doesn't come into play that many weeks. Then could take an old laptop open it there, and connect to TV via HDMI Not that I would do such a thing. I assume this IPTV basically does the same but somehow maybe more user friendly (or not) within the $40 you pay for the box. I did google it and for how legal/illegal it is it states: These devices are legal when used to watch legitimate, free to air content or for paid subscription channels such as Netflix; however, they become illegal once adapted to stream illicit content. So this is free to air content, just not at your specific location becomes a bit more of a gray area. Just curious about Spectrum TV, can you watch while traveling?? I subscribe to You Tube TV because have two houses so can use in both location, it will update to the local channels in whichever location I'm accessing from. Mainly use for ESPN, other sports channels as have a TIVO with antenna at primary location but at 2nd location also use it for local TV as no antenna. Was wondering if able to access when remote in a location that Spectrum is NOT a local provider. If I had a Roku box at 2nd location would that allow me to access account and programming?

Heard Zimmer was placed on IR the other day, did they bring up someone else to the 53 to take his spot? Was it Cam Lewis?

Stefon Diggs appears in rookie mistake commercial

No it's OK to draft a kicker in the 6th round, but we just drafted a bad one, at least that was what many here were posting last September into early October -
NFL TV Schedule and Maps: Week 10, 2021

Always interesting to look at the maps, like what did Fargo ND do to deserve the Jax-Indy game? Could understand if it were San Fran and was SD -
NFL Sunday Ticket could be headed to ESPN+
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
They offer single team packages for MLB Baseball but the difference in price between buying the entire package vs one team hardly makes it worth it. Take the weeks the Bills may be a Sunday or Monday night or 4:00 game or bye, if you want to watch just a couple other games, you'd wish you bought the whole package. I do wonder how much this will increase the cost of ESPN + by, but likely still orders of magnitude cheaper than a DTV contract for 2 years. -
If it's not the players it's the coaches or front office. This week after losing all the Allen, Daboll, Beane, and McD haters are out in force. I think it's more a case of they stated early on player/coach XX is not good, but then they do lots of good /great stuff so can't say much. But just waiting for anything bad to say "See I told you so, I told you I was right!" They don't hate anyone, they just want everyone to know they were right all along.

When exactly did the Packers state he was vaccinated? Sounds like they knew he wasn't but weren't going to come out and say we want to correct what Rodgers stated, if for no other reason they couldn't legally say anything. From everything written yes the Packers did look the other way to some level. Also think the Packers didn't want to make a contentious relationship any worse either. Maybe the one thing Rodgers did tell the truth on is that the only rule he didn't follow was wearing a mask to press conferences, who knows. Even so that was one thing they didn't then follow so they are guilty there. Seems Beasley has been doing un masked PC's too. Maybe that's just something all the teams are ignoring. Some folks think the PC's have been held outside, but others felt some were but others were inside. Or maybe for all Beasley's ranting about this, he really is vaccinated, but he's just on a huge personal freedom rant.

Not too surprising when you figure last year the first half included the Tenn and KC games where Allen didn't play that well. Plus in general the last half of the season was when Allen really was firing on all cylinders. First half was good (minus Tenn and KC) second half he was great.

Bobby Johnson: The Source of O-Line Issues (in my opinion)
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I confused things there, The OP stated that about Brown and I was more directing at his comments. I guess he was implying once Dawkins got his show back on and came back in for Brown implied he was benched?? -
Bobby Johnson: The Source of O-Line Issues (in my opinion)
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree for the most part, these are the same five who last year led one of the best offenses in the league. As for Teller, in 2018 the Bills O line was very bad, that's why Teller got the chance to even play. So 2019 they brought in a bunch of new experienced guys and based on prior years results, don't think they wanted to give the keys to a 2nd year player who looked promising at best at that point. They went with experience. Part of the mess with Ford is due to him missing most of 2020 with injury, so they really didn't have a good feel for whether he was the answer at guard or not. But given he was 2nd round pick, they gave him the benefit of the doubt. Looked good in pre-season, but playing against vanilla defenses too. With many of the moves they've made in the past couple of years, benching Spain and Ford this year, there was improvement the next game (till Brown got hurt) When was Brown benched in week 1? And started week 2?? Was he playing for someone else who got injured?? Did he play a few snaps for Dawkins in week 1? Wouldn't shock me to see them move on from Johnson, however mostly everything listed here as issues are all way above Johnson's pay grade too! -
Really, how would anyone possibly know that since he only played 9 games last year and of those 9 only three of them are worth even talking about. He didn't stretch the field as he was hardly on the field.

Disappointed in Tommy Sweeney
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
A 7th rounder who is still in the league in three years is a surprise, can't call them a disappointment in any way. -
The only thing that makes any sense to me, seems I've heard in the past the analytics department is whispering in his ear during the game about things like percentage to go, not go for it among other things. Someone miscalculated the distance, maybe added the 10 yards for the end zone twice?? Or he miscalculated the distance?? If someone else, he's not the type to blame them and will take the fault for it himself.

The one difference in the KC game we had 3 other players out there on offense. That's over 25% of starters didn't play and 40% of O line which is probably the weakest area of the team including back ups so not sure you really can compare. If we get at least Brown and Knox back next week and still look like this, then is the time to worry. I do agree about not being able to address everything at once. They did draft 3 O linemen this year so also not like they did nothing there and brought in two interesting FA who if one had worked out, would have been helpful. They also brought in a ton of players on the line two or was it three years ago. The problem is with the exception of Brown most are for depth only.
-
I changed your question a little I think it will be one or the other is back and one gone. I'd be amazed if we either don't sign a good younger FA RB draft one. Depending on the style RB we get will determine which one we keep and which goes. If it's more speed back then Moss stays. If it's a bruiser like Henry, then maybe Moss goes and Singletary stays

We have a terrific field goal kicker we hate to use
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
My fear is Allen might still find a way to go long or at least considerably longer than 4 or 5 yards. And I wouldn't trust a run call for much of anything. -

OK but how do you know that wasn't what the HC wanted and called? I have a hard time believing in the Tenn game on that one drive, not the last one, maybe the one before, that the coaching staff even Daboll called for two consecutive long pass attempts on something like a 2nd and then 3rd and 3 or 4 was it? But that was what JA did. In yesterdays game I don't recall any drives where they were really in comfortable FG range, agree likely needed another 5 or 6 yards to get there and was like 3rd and 16 or so. So JA made a throw for the 1st and failed. But maybe the call was for a short pass to a RB to get a few more yards, but JA felt if I wait another half second Diggs or Sanders is going to break free and will be an easy pass for the 1st down, but instead a rusher gets free and now he has to rush the throw and misses by a lot. Last year if he did that it worked almost every time. Maybe you could try and have a play where all 4 or 5 guys only go out 5 yards, but that many players and defenders in a small area doesn't usually work to well either. That's my point, we don't know for certain that the play wasn't to be a conservative play for a few. The one thing the HC or Daboll could have done to assure the conservative call was executed was to call a running play and go with two RB and two TE so only leaves one WR to even throw to. But do you feel even remotely confident if they tried to run it they'd have gained anything? To me a conservative play call that I'd have some confidence would actually work would be a short pass and maybe that was what was called, but wasn't the play that was executed.
