He's nothing close to what he was when he was young.

Having thought about this in various sports over the years, I genuinely believe MOST pro athletes are passionate about the game they play. Some love it so dearly they can't let it go, even when they are too old to play. But that is NOT everyone. Some guys are out there for other reasons and they are collecting paychecks. The NHL is filled with these guys, IMO. Guys who saw they had the talent to play hockey at a young age, and knew they could make a lot of $$$ being average in a way overpaid league. But they'd rather be doing something else. I always think of Dareus when this topic comes up.

There was no "AFC" in 1964 and 1965. Guys who were standouts pre-merger are only going to get so much consideration.

These guys just can't help themselves when it comes to acquiring defensive players. This will come back to haunt us when we are getting knocked out of the playoffs next January. We'll talk then.

Florio: NFL considering XFL kickoff rules
Nextmanup replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Delete the kickoff entirely. Give the ball to each team on the 20 yard line and play football. -
For the Positive Fanbase, Go Bills!!!
Nextmanup replied to DieHardBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Man this place is unreadable this time of year. Well, most times of year, to be honest. -
I am not a birder, per se, but this morning I saw 3 birds walking right down the sidewalk in front of my home in SE FL. I believe they were herons or egrets. Great big long skinny legs; kind of look like dinosaurs walking around, like a mini ostrich.

Fat-a$$ gets stuck in a first-class airline seat
Nextmanup replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall
Well that's a good point about the squish "weaving" under the armrests! LOL It's like he sort of melted and deformed into the infrastructure supporting the seat that he simply couldn't be removed. I wonder what he actually weighs. I bet 385 on the low end, and maybe up to 600 as you say. I believe this is what they used: -
Outside of MLB, Where are the Bills Worse in 2023?
Nextmanup replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall
This time of year is a huge waste, assuming no one important gets injured. It's ALL about playing the real games, always was. I can't believe more people are not focusing (already) on the Monday night opener agains the Jets. The anticipation for that game, for me, is off the charts. I cannot wait to see how it plays out. -
Now that this poor schlub's little batch of meth has been confiscated by these crafty police officers, I'm sure the War on Drugs is just about over.

I don't think I can be a Bills fan ever again
Nextmanup replied to Draconator's topic in Off the Wall
If it was 20 or 30 or 40 years ago, this would be an interesting quandary. Now, it's not. The whole Dolphins hate thing has been dead for me for a LONG time now. And God knows, I used to HATE THEM like you can't imagine. Way too many years of irrelevancy by both teams killed that rivalry a long time ago. Who knows, it might get good again in the near future, though. -
Rodgers is not washed. Hackett is terrible. It will take FOREVER for this guy to be flushed out of the league, however. He's in the club now and these guys stay in the club forever, regardless of performance.

They should ALL be getting ready to play their first and ONLY pre-season game this week....followed by getting into the regular season in mid-August. It would help on the back end, so that the biggest and most important games of the year are not played in unplayable arctic tundra type conditions...which always struck me as ridiculous.

What Would Happen if the Bills Cut Damar Hamlin? (Dan Patrick)
Nextmanup replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Definitely would NOT be a media "firestorm." LOL It would make the news, only b/c of his health scare...then be forgotten about 3 minutes later. The Bills don't owe him a career. -
Haven't heard or thought of him since he was last in the news for being found in a porn theatre or whatever that story was.

“I rarely tell my friends because I am afraid they will think I am weird,’ he said in a separate interview with the Mirror. “My friends and family seemed very surprised to learn I became an animal.” LOL I was just watching a news clip on German TV somewhere on the web (it's in German) and they were interviewing mostly 20-somethings who had gathered for an "Event" in a park. They all "identified" as being something other than people. One cute girl around 22 said, "I identify as being a fox" and then she smiled. She had like little fox ears on her head and some makeup and what not. I thought the whole thing was mostly a joke, but who knows!

I will definitely check out the UFO Rabbit Hole podcast! There are a TON of great podcasts out there now on Youtube (and elsewhere) going into theoretical physics, cosmology, UFOs, and so on. I basically don't watch TV anymore except for live sporting events. A few that I keep an eye on are and find pretty consistently great: Theories of everything with Curt Jaimungal Lex Fridman Podcast Merged Podcast (with former F/A-18 pilot Ryan Graves) Koncrete Podcast

Fat-a$$ gets stuck in a first-class airline seat
Nextmanup replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall
For real? 3 hours? And then only removed by HOIST? How does a human being get that stuck in a chair? People are squishy...I can't believe they couldn't just pull him out of there grabbing his arms or whatever and get his body to deform just enough to free him. It doesn't take much. -
How Is Everyone Finding Updated Information?
Nextmanup replied to CABraves-BillsFanSince1992's topic in The Stadium Wall
Where does this sense of urgency come from? What if your information arrived 24 hours late? What would be the problem with that? You'd always be 24 hours behind, so for you, it would all be "new" information to digest anyway. 🤷♂️ -
Outside of MLB, Where are the Bills Worse in 2023?
Nextmanup replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall
Who says we are worse at MLB? Edmunds is extremely overrated and that's why we let him walk. Anyone WITH SPEED can fit into his slot in that system and achieve similar results.- 180 replies

I called for this upthread. PLEASE LET IT BE SO, LORD! 🤗 There's one problem here: BB is NOT "on the hot seat." I do find it funny, though, how many people here are so oblivious to the world that they think he is. Do these people not understand that BB's situation in NE is totally unique to the entire NFL? If they have a mediocre season and miss the playoffs, Kraft might "order" BB to move on to a new QB or something like that, but he will not be fired. How long BB wants to continue coaching is another matter entirely. I would imagine he will retire as the HC of the Patriots. It's just a question of when that is.

Welcome to the Grand illusion Come on in and see what's happening Pay the price, get your tickets for the show The stage is set, the band starts playing Suddenly your heart is pounding Wishing secretly you were a star

The pro Edmunds people gave a LOT of love to him. But then he left the team, so now I guess those people are back to hating him. That's usually how it works. Total loyalty for anyone or anything currently associated with the team, followed by disdain the moment they are no longer with the team. Don't worry, I don't understand it either. 🤷♂️

It's getting to the point where most vehicles on the street are moving walls. It's completely absurd. Cars should be getting smaller, lighter, and more economical. Instead, we are right back to the 1950s with these land barges that weigh ungodly amounts of weight....create huge mismatch problems in vehicle on vehicle accidents (if they hit a smaller vehicle) and they are often huge blockers of vision. All, MOST OF THE TIME, to get 1 person from here to there only. Only in America....literally.
