  1. Funny...there was a year in undergrad when my best buddies and I played NHL '93 nonstop. And YES! Jeremy Roenick was literally programmed to be a good bit faster than anyone else on the game. As a result, we had a rule that no one could take Chicago. One of my friends discovered what came to be known as "the move" where you could go in on a breakaway, put the puck on your back-hand, and then switch to your forehand quickly combined with shooting. It would result in a goal every single time. Once we ALL knew "the move" the game came down to who could get more breakaways. What's funny about that is that Richard Smehlik (sp?) was about as far away from a goon as you could get. That would have been prime Rob Ray time, and a million others. People think the '70s were the golden age of goonism in the NHL; not true! Look at the stats. The golden age was 100% the '90s. God I miss that sport; it doesn't exist anymore. I remember when a friend taught me the benefit of getting your guy captured by the alien that fired the ray at you...so you could get it back, have 2 guys, and now your firepower was doubled. That was the greatest thing anyone ever told me at the time. LOL!
  2. Interesting. When I got Atari 2600 as a birthday present, one of the 2 games I also got with it was "SUPER BREAKOUT" which you played with the "Paddles" and not the joystick. Never really one of my favorites, but I played that damn thing forever. There was a certain time (not sure exactly when) when I DEFINITELY would have regarded PITFALL by Activision as a "step ahead" of almost all competing video games at the time. LOL. I LOVED THAT GAME! Remember the "Tarzan scream" the thing would do when you jumped up, grabbed a vine, and swung over the crocodiles?
  3. You know if you host a daily sports radio talk show on WGR-550 in Buffalo, NY, from 3pm to 7pm with a co-host named Chris "The Bulldog" Parker. 😂
  4. Couldn't disagree more. Isn't the most recent series with the Lions? That wasn't like what you describe at all. I am actually routinely impressed with what ends up on air. I'm surprised the GMs and coaches would allow a camera anywhere near their offices or meeting rooms.
  5. Sounds interesting. I love documentaries and hadn't seen this, so thanks for putting it on my radar. Will watch soon. 👍
  6. That's about par for the course for North Tonawanda. 😄
  7. I can hardly wait for this game to get here. That Monday in the office is going to be tough to get through.
  8. A "super fan" it says. Didn't recognize him either.
  9. I'm a fan but haven't followed since the move to satellite.
  10. It ain't about player arrests! It's about rings.
  11. Doing deals to trade UP, and giving up assets in the process, in order to get "that 1 guy that you really like" is fundamentally BAD BUSINESS and not how to proceed, long term. Beane likes doing this, which is one of his few weak points. We'll hopefully find out what Kincaid is about this year, assuming McDermott will play him a ton, which he should.
  12. I was close to the perfect age to literally grow up with the development of video games. Definitely remember PONG, Atari 2600, Intellivision, Colecovision, etc. My friend's older brother drilled a tiny hole in a quarter, tied string to it, and taught us how to lower it JUST ENOUGH into the PAC MAN machine at a nearby takeout pizza place to get tons of credits and play forever. One day the owner came out of the kitchen, unplugged the machine, plugged it back in, and told us to get out and don't come back. LOL.....good memories! My all time favorite arcade game is probably GALAGA. LOVE THAT GAME. I remember playing "KABOOM!" by Activision on Atari 2600 at a friend's house when that was brand new, and it BLEW MY MIND! 😂
  13. Sorry to hear this! I saw the documentary about him and immediately dug out all of his music. There are 2 or 3 of his songs that I LOVE. What an interesting/tough life he led.
  14. And yet here in FLORIDA it is LEGAL to drive while holding your phone and talking or playing with it. Studies have shown this is MORE DANGEROUS than driving drunk; it's more distracting. Way to go Florida and every other state that allows this crap. This country is so f-ing stupid.
  15. I can't imagine going to a preseason game, especially an early one where Josh isn't going to play. If everyone stayed home maybe the NFL would get rid of this garbage. Maybe keep 1. There's no need for that, but no need for more than that either.
  16. I will say this: if you want to have immediate and direct control over the outcome of a game, all you need is the referee to make a key call or 2 at the right time of the game. 1 person needs to compromised--that's it---and you can control the outcome of a LOT of games. This entire league lives right in the middle. A few plays each game dictate the outcome, most of the time.
  17. A really bad offensive line and Tua's current brain condition don't make a good combination. Keep in mind every brain expert on the planet has said he should sit out THIS ENTIRE SEASON based on what he went through last season, and the horrific mismanagement of his concussions. The guy is going to turn into a vegetable on the field some day.
  18. I've said since the end of last season we will be in for a regression year this year; I've said this all over this board. Still saying it, though I obviously hope I'm dead wrong.
  19. The best one, by far, is "AB's mind." 😂
  20. So true. For as long as we have Josh, the story of EVERY season is going to be about what we do in the playoffs. And there is no way of knowing that until the playoffs arrive each year. Which kind of makes it hard to focus on the regular season. It's still always fun, though, when the Bills are playing a game.
  21. They key to offensive consistency is certainly NOT Kincaid. It's Josh, just like it always is. Of course, it doesn't hurt if he can get some help. Offensive line and receivers, I'm looking at you.
  22. Looking at photos of Sanhill cranes online, that wasn't it. More like this: (Egret)
  23. Your wages haven't changed, in real economic terms, since about 1980. Pegula has made @ $2.7 billion on JUST the Bills in the 9 years he has owned the team, and that's certainly not his only asset. 🤔
  24. Thank you for reminding me of this; I have not stumbled across it yet on HBO but am looking forward to it.
