I’m just going to come out and say it - this is the year
GreggTX replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see us winning 10 or even 11 games along with getting to the 2nd round, but Allen still has a LONG way to go. The OL is still a work in progress as is the WR corps and the TE's. On D, we're solid, but CB and DE could use a boost. -
Good idea OP. I would also like to bring back the bump and run. Some day, most collisions in the game will be eliminated. Nearly every former NFL player tested has had some brain damage. You can only do so much to protect the brain because the collision that causes brain damage is the "2nd collision" where the brain hits the inside of the skull.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bills go OT in round 1 next Spring. I say go OT in round 1 and move Ford to RG.

Any All-Pro Bills this year?
GreggTX replied to Drunken Pygmy Goat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Maybe next year. I think Singletary has a shot at it some day, but even the young guys on our roster are still a long way from all pro. -
The OL has come a long way, but is a very long way from dominant. I'd like us to be able to dictate to the defense where we can pound the rock and make them stop it. You know. Like other teams used to do to us. We also could use some truly elite talent at the skill positions. It starts with the OL, though. We need a dominant LT and move Dawkins to RT.

Josh Allen vs Bills History
GreggTX replied to thenorthremembers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Allen played his worst NFL game vs the Pats and his best game against the Titans. He played smart football, wrapped up the ball when defenders were near and his mechanics were much better last Sunday. You have to be a good game manager before you can be a good gunslinger. I'll take just 1 bonehead play per game from Josh every week. -
Enjoy it while it lasts. This does feel different, though. I see losses coming to Philly, Dallas and the Pats. That's only 4 losses all year. This team has been a pleasent surprise, but we still have money for FA's next year and decent draft capital. I'd love to see a probowler or 2 on that OL so Singletary can become a scoring machine. Add an elite DE and a CB because you can't have too many good CB's.

Now that I've watched the game twice, the MVP has to be Jordon Phillips. His enthusiasm was contagious. Edmunds was a close 2nd even though his numbers weren't as impressive. His awareness and recognition have catapulted him to well above average from a very shaky rookie year. I think he's the most improved player on the roster so far. Maybe Harry will have something to say about that next year. This was Josh Allen's best game to date. He did exactly what he needed to do and took what little a very good defense gave him because he knew he had a better defense. It worked. We won a low scoring game and survived a comeback attempt when they tied the game in the 4th quarter. Josh made only 1 big boo boo. Allen was the smarter QB today and the more accurate. Good job bouncing back after his worst game to date last week.

10/6/2019 Bills @Titans post game thread

Gamepass is a must unless you live overseas, in which case you can watch complete NFL games on youtube. -
No.

I couldn't agree more. Frank Gore was excellent and Yeldon didn't fumble. Hopefully Singletary will be 100% before the Philly game. I've been impressed what we've been able to achieve with even a backup OL at several positions. It isn't always pretty, but they can still grind out a few tough yards. We really need to run the ball more, though. If you aren't scoring, at least move the chains and eat up the clock to make it easier on your defense. Besides, you can wear down a defense like that. I was extremely pleased at how well we ran the ball at the end of the game to close it out. Gore was excellent when it counted most.

Daboll Run/Pass Ratios Under Center and Shotgun
GreggTX replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those numbers are indeed disturbing. Running is our strength. We should keep defenses guessing more. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - An Emotional Loss
GreggTX replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm with you, Shaw. I LOVE it when the Bills play GREAT defense! There is reason for great optimism even if Josh doesn't get it together. Add a franchise player at LT and WR and maybe CB and a replacement for Lo after the season and this team is ready for the big time. Obviously Allen has to play a LOT better, but if he can't, we would still be a serious heavyweight contender if we had a solid QB. Even a guy like Minshew or Danny Jones would make this team as good as any other, but so much depends on the QB. I'm still hoping Josh can pull through. I just wish we could speed that process WAY up. Just imagine this team with Russel Wilson at QB or Pat Mahomes. -
If the Bills Trade at the Deadline.. What Position?
GreggTX replied to elijah's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will be a OT, WR or CB if they do, but I find it highly unlikely. I wish they'd trade for a proven QB like Stafford or Ryan, but that won't happen either, obviously. I think we are really just going to wait for the offseason. -
So this guy Dane Brugler doesn't know that Whaley drafted Tre White? LOL He must have read that "McBeane" drafted him in this forum. Our 3rd and 7th round picks were excellent, in hindsight. The jury is still out on Oliver and Ford. I will say this for Oliver. He's picking up a lot of double teams and that is helping the run defense. I think the facts that they are giving him extra attention and Edmunds is looking so much better against the run are not unrelated.

100% correct. What Daboll did was very unprofessional. Josh had a difficult enough day. Having his coach ridicule him like that in front of his teammates and the fans is the kind of thing that creates a lasting grudge. Very poorly handles by Daboll. I hope he apologizes. I have no problem with him getting angry if he thinks that will help, but you do that behind closed doors. You don't anoint someone the team leader and then undress them in public.

The First Program Cover From the 1st Game at The Rich
GreggTX replied to T&C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember that game! We were still stuck in traffic when the game started, so we were listening on the radio when the Redskins took the very first KO at the stadium to the house for a TD. No wonder we lost all 4 SB's! They should have recognized that as a bad omen and built another stadium. (j/k) -
I liked what I saw from Edmunds week 1. He didn't always make a play, but he was always around the ball a lot more than last year. I believe he'll turn out to be a better player than Josh Allen.

Josh's foot work in the first qtr - Woof
GreggTX replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know the Pats have the best defense right now, but I still can't help think we need to draft another QB and SOON! -
Will offense operate better with Barkley next week?
GreggTX replied to GG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see no reason why Barkley can't put together a better game than any of the games that Allen has played. At least he will be patient and not throw the game away or keep fumbling. Smart. We have a defense, so let them carry the team like Josh should have done. Despite missing much of the Pats game, Allen leads the NFL in interceptions. Not good. -
Trade Allen and draft another QB if we can't trade for an upgrade. That said, I'd certainly give him the rest of this season to turn it around, but no longer. We can't wait forever.

The real test for this team is this weekend
GreggTX replied to warrior9's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Josh Allen's real test was last Sunday and he failed miserably. The defense, on the other hand, passed with flying colors. ST's were a disaster too. To be honest, I'm kind of anxious to see if Matt Barkley can play better than Allen has. That's not a very high bar, but Allen and Barkly are all we have this year to work with. The defense will have to stay on top of it.
