[Incomplete Title] PFF’s all-pro team has ...
GreggTX replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's because we have no all pro caliber players. We do, on the other hand, have great coaching and leadership from McDermott who deserves COY IMO. I hope they win on Saturday for McDermott . That would end any question about who deserves COY more. -
For What Reason Will You Miss Work Saturday
GreggTX replied to thronethinker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm retired, but I won't be able to watch until it's posted on youtube. I'll be in sunny, balmy Samar by then. Not sure how I'll get internet access because my brother in law lives well outside of the nearest town. -
I'm gonna double down on Stampede's prediction 24-16 Texans, but if the Bills can get pressure and White shadows DeAndre all day, that could easily change. I can see this game going either way. The real question for Buffalo is which QB shows up? Will it be good Josh that beat Dallas or bad Josh who can't handle pressure. I expect the Texans to do all they can to pressure him.

Pick 3 FA's you'd like to see targeted.

I'd love to see Cooper and Henry in Bills blue in '20, but I can't see it happening. -
I like Chan a lot as an OC and even more as a playcaller. Always have. Miami will take a step up next year and Gase will be looking for a job 1 year from today. I'll never forget the time Chan called a middle screen to Fred at the 1 yard line. Easiest TD in franchise history.

NE fans are hating life right now. Lookie here...
GreggTX replied to Disgusted ills fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they draft Brady's replacement in the 1st round. Love him or hate him, Belichick is a great coach and will still win a lot of games after Brady retires. I can't believe the lack of respect for Brady either. If we'd had him these past 20 years with all those SB rings, we'd have already built a huge statue of him in front of city hall. -
Only 1 TD on Opening Drives, 4 FG's...Coaching or Players?
GreggTX replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both O & D struggle out of the gate fairly often. It seems to take the playcallers a while to adjust to what the other teams are doing. -
The Bills beat 1 winning team and 1 play-off team
GreggTX replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True OP, but was still our best season in a long while. My downside for 2019 is that Beane's high draft picks aren't playing any better. I just hope he doesn't get so attached to them like Whaley did with EJ. If Allen, Edmunds, Oliver and Ford don't take huge steps forward in '20, we may be calling for a new GM too soon. I sincerely hope he nails our top 2 picks in this next draft. I give him a passing grade on free agency and his mid to late picks as well as UDFA's however. -

Thanks for the assist. I can't seem to copy links on this PS4. -
TE position is actually looking pretty promising
GreggTX replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree OP. It's hard to say where Knox and Sweeney will be in their development in 2 years and they clearly have a long way to go, but I'm liking them so far. A big WR is our biggest need along with OT. Move Ford inside. Move Dawkins to RT and draft or sign a franchise LT. Resign Spain too. -

Otherwise? -
Pick 3 FA's you'd like to see targeted this offseason that you think have a realistic chance of shaking loose. I'll go with AJ Green and Anthony Castonzo. Both are 32, so it's possible. Chris Harris is 31 and still playing at a very high level. None of these guys are all that likely to end up here, but 2 yr contracts for them would be great. How realistic am I being? I'd love me some Amari Cooper, but Dallas will resign him IMO. Younger players of this caliber are far less likely to shake loose so I went with these guys. I don't know if Beane feels the same, but Frank Gore worked out well for us. It's really anybody's guess at this point. nfltraderumors.co/top-25-2020-nfl-free-agents-list/

T Murphy is the personification of 'average'. The DE position will be interesting to follow this offseason. I think both Murphy and Shaq could be gone in '20.
-
For Jets game, T Murphy on D and T Sweeney on O. Duke deserves mention with 6 catches for 108 yds, but Sweeney was targeted on 5 times and caught all 5 for 76 yds. Duke was targeted 12 times. For the season, I'd pick White on D with both Hyde and Poyer in the conversation. Offense is tough to call, but I'll go with J Brown with Beasley and Singletary getting runners up.

In defense of defense (and running, too)
GreggTX replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love a great D and rushing attack, but the QB still has to be effective as a passer. That's why Jackson will be MVP and Allen will never be MVP. Both run very well, but Allen's inaccuracy will always hold him and his team back whereas Jackson's passing game is efficient. He protects the ball and completes a very high percentage of his throws. Josh has a VERY long way to go and he handles pressure very poorly. -
I would trade White and Allen for Mahomes in a heartbeat and it would be the best trade in franchise history. We'd sign the best CB on the FA market and draft another. Add a #1 WR and a probowl OT and we'd be as good as any team in the NFL or better.

Elbert "Golden Wheels" Dubenion RIP (Bills WoF WR)
GreggTX replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He played on the greatest Bills team ever assembled -- The ONLY one that walked off the field as champions in the last football game of the season and they did it 2 years in a row. I saw those games and I hope I live to see even greater feats by the Bills. -
Josh makes hard throws, misses easy ones
GreggTX replied to Rockee96's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You see, OP? Bills fans simply can't admit that Allen's inaccuracy will never allow him to be a consistent passer. They couldn't wait to throw Tyrod under the bus, but they just refuse to see Allen in an unbiased fashion. The defense carried this team all season, but they give credit to an average-at-best QB. I'd give him another year to prove himself with som upgrades (especially WR and OL) and if he can't improve his accuracy and his ability to handle pressure, trade him and try again. If Cam Newton becomes available, I'd try that route depending on Cam's health. Otherwise, trade up for a QB in the 2022 Spring draft. Josh is a phenominal scrambler, but pocket passing is what makes a QB great as well as the ability to throw under pressure. That's why Brady is the GOAT. Deadly accuracy and quick/correct decision making. -
I agree OP. We are ranked in the top 10 in rushing offense largely because of Allen's scrambling. Our OL is average at best and I'd love to see us sign or draft an elite OT at the very least this offseason. We need a big, physical #1 WR as well. On D, an elite edge rusher, outside and slot corner upgrades and Lorenzo's replacement. We know Josh needs to play a lot better, but the same is true of Edmunds as well.
-
Ouch! Under 60% completion rate and under 7 yards per attempt! That's not very encouraging. It's way better than last year, but doesn't explain all of the blind optimism Bills fans have for him. I'd keep drafting QB's even in middle rounds and hope for the next Russell Wilson to replace him. I don't know what the drop rate is for our receivers, but I know that inaccurate throws will get dropped more often than well placed throws no matter who's trying to catch them.

Is There a Chance McD Threw the Game Yesterday?
GreggTX replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. -
I think we, the fans, just wanted it more than the team.
GreggTX replied to Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to be argumentative OP, but I seriously doubt the fans want it more than the players. If any player wants to win less than the fans, he doesn't deserve to play for this team. -
Josh clearly has a long way to go in numerous areas of his game. I'll say this much. He has gotten far more forgiveness from Bills fans than any player in franchise history and it's not even close. It seems to make no difference whether he plays well or not. Everyone sings his praises regardless. Honestly, I've seen nothing like it since 1960.
