Josh Gordon is about to be available
GreggTX replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's not as good as some people seem to think. I think some are basing their assessment more on reputation than performance. -
Is Star Lotulelei A Liability on the DL?
GreggTX replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd wager this is Star's last season in Buffalo. Both Harry and Jordan Phillips have played much better even if no one outside of Buffalo has noticed and Harry will be back. -
A possible solution for tanking? Reinvent the draft.
GreggTX replied to Samwell Tarly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's good that you're thinking outside the current zeitgeist OP, but I just don't know if I like the idea. Losing teams would really be screwed. Look at the Pats. They always pick late and still win. -
Sunday is the biggest game of the year
GreggTX replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems some folks are taking the Eagles way too lightly. Yes, they have stumbled out of the gate, but their roster is anything but garbage. I just hope this isn't the week they start playing up to their talent level. I seriously doubt anyone at OBD is taking them lightly. Winning never hurts anything except the other guy(s). -
R Talbot (via ESPN) - bills on the hunt for a WR
GreggTX replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
AB! AB! OK. Just kidding. -
John Brown is playing like a #1 WR
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now imagine if we added a guy as good as Julio, OBJ, etc. -
538's Current Projections (Bills finish at 11-5)
GreggTX replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we added probowlers at OT, WR, Edge Rusher and CB, I think we's have something special. This assumes continued improvement by Allen. I'm also taking into account the vast improvement at DT with both Phillips' playing lights out in 2019. Real shame about Harry. He was ready to take over the starting job too. And what the @#%$ are they feeding Jordan? I need some of that. -
Daboll is good, but he relies too much on Allen's arm. I'd like to see us run more. I'd especially like to see Singletary get more carries to see if he can be a #1 RB or if we need to continue to upgrade that position. B-

I'd like to see us add a probowl caliber LT so we can move Dawkins to RT and kick Ford to G. Our OL is better, but still just average. Forget the absurd arguments about needing or not needing an elite #1 WR. We need a guy that can keep DC's awake at night there. Brown has been a pleasant surprise, but more is needed at WR/TE. I've lost confidence in Trent Murphy. He's a very average DE and can easily be replaced. An elite edge rusher would make a noticeable difference. The other position that I think needs a true #1 is outside CB. Wallace is good, but inconsistent. White is better, but not a shutdown corner. Let Wallace compete for slot CB since T Johnson can't stay healthy. That would give us perhaps the best defense in the NFL.

First Time I have been concerned with Josh Allen
GreggTX replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Josh is playing better of late, but I think his ceiling will be just an average passer with exceptional mobillty. Overall, that makes him above average. If we ever win a SB with him at QB, we'll need a legendary defense and an unstoppable ground game. -
A Few Thoughts about the Dolphins Game, in no particular order
GreggTX replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with all of your points, Virgil. I would add 1 more. I think we get too conservative at the end of games. I realize they are concerned about all the turnovers that Josh Allen has, though he has been getting better. That last 3rd down should have been a pass. I mean, if it's not wide open, then fine. Throw it away. Don't try to squeeze it in when protecting a slim lead with less than 5 minutes to go. Still, we nearly always get stuffed into a 3 and out when we do that and it hurts us. Luckily it hasn't cost us a game to this point. -
McDermott in early COY discussion
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a game manager, he is still learning, but he has gotten better. As a leader he stands head and shoulders above any HC we have had in a long time. The players talk like they are ready to stand at the gates of hell and fight for him. -
When is Allen going to have "that game", and do you care?
GreggTX replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He could have that game next week or never. Nobody knows, but you are correct. He needs to reach that level if we are going to win the SB and let's get real. Winning the SB is what it's all about. It seems some folks have forgotten that. -
Josh Allen - week SEVEN report card
GreggTX replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
C- I'm just hoping this isn't his high point and he'll still get a lot better, but there is no guarantee that will happen. Some guys just never see the field, read defenses, etc that well. Others QB's survive by their awareness and instincts. I hope Josh will continue to improve. If not, they need to cut bait and try again. -
Why would anyone want to shorten NFL games? Baseball teams play 10 times as many games and basketball and hockey teams play nearly 100. We get just 16 games a year. That's less than a tenth of the baseball games and you want to cut down our game time even more? I don't get that at all. Also, I couldn't care less about other games. My interest in the NFL begins and ends with the Bills.
-
I'll be happy if he gets a sack. He hasn't lived up to expectations and hasn't sacked anyone yet, so I don't know why anyone would expect him to suddenly play like he's all pro. I think Singletary is going to be our best pick from the last draft.
-
Many Bills fans just aren't very realistic about Josh Allen. What were you expecting? He turned the ball over 4 times in just 1 half (1 less than Peterman vs Chargers). He threw 3 picks vs the Pats and has been consistently missing on the deep ball by a mile. 5 fumbles and 7 picks in just 5 games too! Yet somehow he's a superstar? He's improved a bit in some areas and could eventually be very good, but he has a really long way to go and there are no guarantees that he will get any better than he is now.

Kaepernick Black-balled?
GreggTX replied to Never NEVER Give-up's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No problem at all. I don't think a player's politics should be a deciding factor here. He has hurt no one. Same for all Tebow detractors as well. OK, so Tebow sucked, but who cares about his religion anyways? That's his personal business. As far as Colin is concerned, good on him for helping to bring attention to a problem that needs more attention, but again, it shouldn't matter either way. The owners only care about money, so they will never sign him because they are afraid. -
John Brown groin injury - expected to play vs Dolphins
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He has been our best player on offense thus far. I hope he heals up quickly. We are still a bit thin at WR, IMO. -
Personally, I think our HC has some weaknesses in his game management skills, but he has gotten better. As a leader, however, I think he has been excellent. He's got these players ready to run through walls for him. How would you grade him overall as a HC?
-
Let's just take a dose of reality here. Josh is playin better, but he's still had several fumbles and 6 picks in 5 games. The D has played well to this point, but the offense needs to continue improving. 11-18 is the combined W/L record of our opponents. We lost to the only team we've played that has a winning record and none of the others have won more than 2 games so far. We are definitely playing better, but we still have an awful lot to prove -- especially Josh. If we can go 4-2, we'll be 8-3 heading into Dec. I'd be thrilled with that even with our super easy schedule.

Make the trade for Stephon Diggs
GreggTX replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need elite talent added to this roster at a 'reasonable' price. The best way to do that is to draft well and pay the rookie contract rate for 5 years. IMO, we do very well to add a top 10 talent at OT, CB, DE and WR. -
NFL get rid of instant replay
GreggTX replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can we please start putting the title of the thread at the top of the OP so we know what the poster was saying instead of the nonsense that the mods put there? I mean, thanks for telling me that you think something in the title is vague, but I can discern that for myself, thanks. Besides, it's just not that important.
