  1. We were second overall in total yards allowed, but were far from 2nd overall in many other categories. And yards allowed isn't always the best metric for good defenses. Think back to 2014 when we were 1st in the league in sacks with 54 total, 3rd overall in takeaways, had 3 of 4 linemen in the Pro Bowl and were just dominating people (including 3 straight games where we made HOF QB's look terrible in Rodgers, Brady & Manning), and had the 4th best scoring defense. I believe we were only ranked 4th overall in total yards allowed that year. There's no way our defense was anywhere close to as good as it was in 2014, yet we're ranked higher due to pundits using total yards allowed as the main metric cited.
  2. I 100% agree with you. Only thing is Allen actually had the worst deep ball accuracy percentage too last year, so even that's not technically a strength yet. Also, you said Beasley only caught four deep passes last season but then listed off 5, just fyi
  3. I can see anywhere from as low as 4 to as high as 9, so I'm going with 6. Even 6 sacks for a DT is pretty damn great though. Early in his college career he was being compared to Donald, but he never performed as well as Donald did in college, and isn't the animal on the field Donald is either. Doesn't mean he can't become a great defensive threat, but Donald is on another plane of existence as a defender. Even being in the conversation would mean Oliver is doing something right. Good luck to him!
  4. I can't wait to see him & Trump go back & forth on Twitter! It'll officially usher in the collapse of society. A new age is upon us ladies & gentlemen!
  5. Yes, he's about to be a 2nd year QB like Mahomes was last year. Then next year he'll be a 3rd year QB like Mahomes is this year. THEN, the following year...get this, he'll be a 4th year QB like Mahomes was the previous year! And guys...you won't believe this... that next season, he'll be a 5th year QB like Mahomes was too! Trajectory established. Might as well be twins with such similar paths. So Allen is only going to play 7 more seasons? And in those 7 more seasons he's going to play so phenomenal, he'll be a first ballot HOFer? You may want to raise your expectations of him... I think you're selling him a little short. Perhaps have a bit more faith in the guy.
  6. Just like "Character" and "High-Motor" players beat out talent and skills? I wish it were true, but I'm pretty sure strategy wins out MOST of the time.
  7. Stevie Johnson was what, a 7th round pick and became our #1 WR. It's not that crazy when you have they physical gifts and the proper motivation. Foster had more yards receiving (with a rookie QB who was extremely raw and inconsistent throwing to him) than any of our WR's did with Tyrod the season before (and only 17 less than our leader in 2017, Charles Clay). Aside from 30 yards, he put up all his numbers in only the last 7 games of the year, including three 100-yard games. Yes, it's premature to just think he'll be the next AB, but at the same time it's pretty easy to see how he could become a star on this team and a #1 WR. Even though he was undrafted, it's much, much easier to image him as a legit #1 threat as opposed to a 2nd round pick like Zay Jones. Jones may end up becoming a consistent player in this league, but there's almost no way I can envision him as a true #1 WR. If anyone on this team can be, Foster is the only one that seems plausible for that role under any circumstance.
  8. "Historically good?" I doubt it. I've heard that before, and we had a better all around defense than the one we have now, yet never lived up to expectations. However, all 5 points you make are solid. On paper, it definitely seems like our defense should improve, though there are reasons to think it may not improve quite as much as some may think. Losing Kyle also means losing the heart of that locker room & a lot of leadership. We still have players that have strong voices, but replacing Kyle's passion and the respect his teammates had for him won't be easy. Ed Oliver & Edmunds are still unproven. Oliver SHOULD be a solid player from day 1, but nothing is a given with rookies. It's safe to say Edmunds didn't live up to expectations last seasons, but he was also very young. Right now he's getting the benefit of the doubt based on where he was drafted and the "potential" argument, but on the field he hasn't been impressive with the exception of a few rare glimpses. If he plays like he did last year, that will be a huge problem. Lastly, Lorenzo's age will catch up to him eventually. At his position, his age should already be affecting him quite a bit, but somehow he's managed to be one of the best pieces of our defense anyway. Aside from performance dropping off, he's at a higher risk for injury too. Losing him at any point will leave a pretty sizable hole in our defenses. Anyway, your points are all still valid, and we very well could see a year over year improvement in all categories if all goes right. Our secondary is still top notch, as White & Johnson proved they only get better the more play time they get, and Hyde & Poyer are a fantastic duo, no doubts about their abilities whatsoever. It's just a matter if everything else will come together, and I certainly am optimistic they will.
  9. Hope our revamped offensive line gives him a good challenge to practice against. If he had joined the team last season, he'd probably think the NFL was going to be a breeze after lining up against our guys. Playing against experienced guys each day will really help him develop that much quicker.
  10. I seriously believe Robert Foster will emerge into a bigger threat than Zay Jones ever will.
  11. This video really made me appreciate what a special talent we already have on the roster at WR. A 5 star recruit that wasn't living up to potential, but had a fire lit under his a** and turned it up the 2nd half of the season. The guy has a really high ceiling, and may turn out to be the best offensive weapon we have if he continues to make a great of strides as he did this year. Really excited to see what the future holds for him on the Bills.
  12. Not for today's world. People don't believe facts, see things & dismiss them as fake or fixed, and disregard anything they don't want to hear/see. It's pretty common actually lol
  13. Looks like one of those women that got thigh/butt implants... body dimensions are way too warped.
  14. I'd take Patrick Mahomes as a wildcat RB if that's what it'd take to get him on the field ? But outside of that, Khalil Mack, Antonio Brown (without the drama), Travis Kelce, and DeAndre Hopkins.
  15. Poor Jim... Always gets roped back into the Bills QB hype each time we get a new guy, only to leave disappointed yet again. But at the same time, it's crazy he hadn't been given an official role for the team years ago. As much as he comes up in Bills news the past couple decades, he might as well have an official title & paycheck to go along with it.
  16. Did anyone really think Kyle would come out and say "Josh Allen is a bust, and the Bills will rue the day they drafted him!" C'mon... Kyle is a Bills legend, but I'm sure if I spent 10 mins on Google I could find him saying great things about other Bills QB's as well.
  17. This is part of the reason I'd welcome a new stadium. Bills fans are loud, but the acoustics at the stadium don't match those of others I've been to. When I went to the Bills vs Texans game in Houston this past season, there were far less people in attendance than the past couple games I went to in Buffalo, yet the noise level was so much higher! And are Texans fans known for being as diehard & wild as Bills fans? Not by a longshot. Having that dome, and the stadium itself be built around maximizing the noise level (and sight lines) provides a pretty strong home field advantage. I'd love to see what a smaller, but more condensed group of Bills fans could pull off on a Sunday in a domed home stadium.
  18. Unless Allen DRAMATICALLY improves his short-intermediate route accuracy & his timing, I don't see this happening at all. Last year he was all over the place in that regard. Passes may zip right over your head, slam into the ground way short (even though it might've been only a 5-8 yard slant route), fly behind the target, or come at you with such force that handling becomes an issue. Timing, accuracy, touch, and field awareness were pretty glaring weaknesses last season, and it wasn't the WR talent or the O-line that was the problem in that regard. Hopefully he'll improve this season, but I really, really don't see Allen as a no-huddle, type QB. You need a guy who can quickly get the ball out & on point, while also being able to observe his options if the primary route isn't there, make quick decisions, throw the ball away when necessary, be satisfied with picking up small chunks of yards (instead of trying to force downfield), and methodically marches down the field while waiting to pick apart the weak points in an opponent's defense. Josh averaged the longest time before throwing the ball last year among all QB's (with Lamar Jackson being second). They were the only 2 QB's that averaged 3 seconds or more. One potentially good thing is his propensity to run the ball. On one hand, it can hurt that he's taking off too early & missing open looks/taking sacks, but on the other hand it can make him really dangerous in a no huddle if the opponent has to always scheme for him taking off for big gains. Sorry, I'm at work & have come back to this post like 5 times...so it's definitely longer than intended.
  19. Pound for pound? What's his pound to greatness ratio compared to OJ's pound to greatness ratio? I DEMAND TO KNOW YOUR NUMBERS AND YOUR METHODS!
  20. I always hate predicting 10 wins with the Bills as long as Brady is around. Because the Pats have had our number for going on 2 decades now, you may as well predict the Bills as going 10-4. We're almost certainly going to lose 2 games to the Pats every year, so that means you're predicting we're going 10-4 against the rest of the field. I find that really hard to believe that we'll be able to do that, but I hope I'm wrong. Or as the poster above said, Allen doesn't improve. Edumnds needs to improve as well, but if Allen doesn't improve over last year's performance, 6 wins or less is very likely.
  21. I mean, we had countless people on here prior to this past season saying "we made the playoffs last year, how could we possibly go backwards by improving this year?!" only to have reality hit like a ton of bricks. I think our low position is a clear sign that Allen is still seen as a project QB who is more likely to bust than to become a franchise QB. Everything will change if he proves doubters (myself included) wrong, but until then, expect most people outside of Buffalo to be very low on us.
  22. I think it's because Coy has gotten some pretty decent face time/exposure on TV the past couple years, as he's a news host/anchor on some morning show now (and does sports stuff for CNN I believe). I don't even remember the name, but my wife always turns on the same morning news show every day when she wakes up, and I quickly recognized him. I asked her if he was a guest commentator or something, and she said no, he's one of the main people on air. Good for him though, found some success after football.
  23. Josh Allen was always said to be a "project" QB, with a raw skillset but the physical attributes and athleticism that made him worth drafting on potential alone. Great size & arm strength were constantly noted, as were accuracy issues. On the other hand, Tyree Jackson is said to be the liked for the same reasons. Great size and athleticism, fantastic arm strength, but also inaccurate. They both also faced similar criticisms for facing inferior competition throughout their collegiate careers. Josh Allen is 6'5 and 240 lbs. Tyree Jackson is 6'7 and 249 lbs. Josh Allen's hand size is 10 & 1/8 inches. Tyree Jackson's hand size is 10 & 1/4 inches. Josh Allen's arms measured at 33 & 1/4 inches. Tyree Jackson's arms measured at 34 & 1/4 inches. Josh Allen ran a 4.75 second 40 yard dash. Tyree Jackson ran a 4.59 second 40 yard dash. Josh Allen had a 33.5 inch vertical jump. Tyree Jackson had a 34.5 inch vertical jump. *************************************************************************************************** So in terms of physical attributes, size & athleticism, they both are extremely similar in every way. Now to break down stats a bit: Josh Allen's Completion Percentage his final season - 56.3% Tyree Jackson's Completion Percentage his final season - 55.3% Josh Allen's YPG his final season - 164.7 yards Tyree Jackson's YPG his final season - 223.6 yards Josh Allen had 16 TD's, averaging 1.45 TD's per game his final season. (28 TD's in 14 games the the prior season) Tyree Jackson had 28 TD's, averaging 2.0 TD's per game his final season. (12 TD's in 8 games the prior season) Josh Allen threw 6 INT's, averaging 0.54 INT's per game his final season (15 INT's, averaging 1.07 per game the prior season) Tyree Jackson threw 12 INT's, averaging 0.85 INT's per game his final season (3 INT's, averaging 0.38 per game the prior season) Josh Allen rushed for 204 yards on 92 carries, averaging 2.2 YPA his final season. Tyree Jackson rushed for 161 yards on 55 carries, averaging 2.9 YPA his final season. Josh Allen rushed for 5 TDs his final season (12 TD's in 2 seasons). Tyree Jackson rushed for 7 TD's his final season (16 TD's in 3 seasons). Josh Allen was 8-3 as a starter his final season, 8-6 the prior year. Tyree Jackson was 10-4 as a starter his final season, 5-3 the prior year. Josh Allen's Passer Rating his final season was 127.8, and 144.9 the prior year. Tyree Jackson's Passer Rating his final season was 136.7, and 148.8 the prior year. *************************************************************************************************** Again, awfully similar in most every category. One of the only other factors to consider is whether you value playing in the MW Conference or the MAC more. Wyoming finished with a 4th overall W/L record at 8-5 in the MWC in 2017, with Allen not leading in a single statistical category in the conference. Buffalo finished with a 1st overall W/L record at 10-4 in the MAC in 2018, with Jackson leading in several major statistical categories in the conference (Ex: Most Passing TD's and Most Passing Yards). He also finished the season as the MAC's Offensive Player of the Year. Anyway... TL;DR - What differences between them were so huge that it lead to a gap in draft position as massive as A) being a top 10 pick in the 1st round and B) being passed over by everyone & signing as an Undrafted Rookie FA? I'm not saying Tyree is as good as Allen, and I'm not saying he's even worthy of being an NFL starter. I just can't see how one is worth the risk based on physical attributes & flashes of great talent, while the other has equally impressive physical attributes and also shows flashes of great talent. I mean, at least he should be worth a pick in the 4th round based on where Allen was drafted right? At worst, a 5th or 6th rounder... Can you imagine if Josh Allen fell to the 5th or 6th, or simply went undrafted? "Intangibles" can be thrown around to fill in for whatever explanation that doesn't exist for such a weird difference in draft stock, but that should only cover so much. On the other hand, I don't know if Jackson had any legal troubles or character doubts that I haven't heard about, but from what I know there wasn't anything noteworthy. So how did one guy profit so much his physical skillset while the other was written off for a very similar one?
  24. So I guess this is just one of those "high motor" and "high character" guys? Averaged a whopping 19.5 receptions and 302.5 yards the past 2 seasons, with a combined total of 0 TD's his entire college career.... I know stats aren't everything, but nothing screams "this guy won't be here by the time our next pick rolls around, better trade up now!"
  25. 0 TD's in his entire career at Ole Miss? That's an interesting player to trade up for...
