  1. But there's so much beyond looks & below 60% accuracy to compare them on that shows the worlds of difference between the two. Cam in College - Played in the SEC at Auburn, won a national championship, won the Heisman Trophy, was AP college football player of the year, first team All-American, and averaged a 62.9% completion rating through his 4 years. Allen in College - Played in the Mountain West, was 2nd team all-Mountain West, never dominated anyone on the field, had no signature wins, played miserably as an individual against any power 5 school, averaged 56.2% completion rating through 3 seasons, regressed his final year at Wyoming, and had a mediocre year overall. Cam in the NFL as a rookie - Won Offensive Rookie of the Year, had a 60% completion rating, threw for over 4,000 yards, and had a positive TD/INT ratio, had an 84.5% Passer Rating and finished 40th on NFL's top 100 list (voted by players). Allen in the NFL as a rookie - Even more inaccurate, completing just 52.4% of his passes, has the lowest passer rating of all qualifying QB's/lowest QBR on pass attempts, and is the dead-last, worst down field passer in the league by a wide margin (according to ESPN, on passes 16 yards or deeper his passer rating is 36.2 - almost 20 points lower than the next lowest QB). He has more INT's than passing TD's, has as many games with 0 TD passes as he does total TD passes, and is #1 of all QB's this year for Time-to-Throw in the league (average time holding onto the ball before throwing) at 3.28 seconds. Only 2 other Qb's average 3 seconds or more - DeShaun Watson at 3.03 & Russell Wilson at 3.00. Then you simply just watch with your own eyes, both in college or in the pros, and see worlds of differences between the two. Outside of size & athleticism, there's a huge understanding & skill gap that is difficult to just brush aside. One had all the makings of a great QB in college & the NFL, and played at a high level at both (College - Won Heisman & National Championship; NFL - Offensive Rookie of the Year) The other looks the part & has the physical tools, but has been getting by on "potential," and what he "could" be if only the right coaches could develop him right. So far though, there's no on-field play to suggest he's ever going to meet that potential, only glimpses of what he could do if he had a grasp of the game that equaled his passion for it.
  2. Pass Interference needs to be a reviewable penalty. It's absolutely asinine that a penalty that can cost teams so many yards isn't at least able to be challenged. If they want to get away with bogus PI calls, they should just make it an automatic 15 yard penalty instead.
  3. So half way through the easiest remaining schedule, and we're right on pace to meet my expectations. We're 1-2, beating the Jags & losing the last 2 games against division opponents. Up next, the Lions, Patriots & Dolphins. My guess is we beat the Lions & lose to the Patriots and beat the Dolphins (I'm iffy about this last one). We CAN beat them, but the Dolphins are going to be playing for something... The homer in me says we split with them, and that homefield will give us the edge. Unfortunately, turnout may not be that great for us if last year was anything to go by. WE were playing for the playoffs near the end of the season, with a division opponent at home, and the stadium looked 1/3 empty ? I dunno, maybe people will turn out just to watch Allen play.
  4. Sounds like you just don't like hearing things that conflict with your opinion... Allen looks good in the first quarter, usually when he's following the script, but afterwards relies on his legs to do anything impressive. He has abysmal accuracy, isn't even good throwing the deep pass, throws bad picks, and holds onto the ball too long. Other than that, sure...he looks good running the ball? How is that not almost entirely accurate?! Less impressive throwing the ball, unless you disregard accuracy entirely, has less TD's & more INT's, holds onto the ball longer and can't read a defense. But he's bigger & looks better running the ball, whoopie! Just like all the successful QB's in the league, right?
  5. It's that "potential" thing scouts go on about. Just like with QB's, if they have some natural gifts, look the part, have a good combine, etc. they get looks. They only need to have one of those things for a team to take a flyer on them.
  6. Why would they assume that? They had 3 wins heading into that game, and had a bunch of injuries. Their defense is ranked 23rd overall, compared to our's being ranked 2nd... You're telling me they thought Josh McCown was going to come in & dominate us? Not likely.
  7. With the way Barkley came in off the streets & delivered our biggest win points-wise of the season, Allen should be able to beat them with ease. He also has the luxury of being at home on top of it, so the Jets shouldn't pose a threat.
  8. Because as the past couple decades have shown us, going 9-7 is so common in Buffalo, we can afford to be dismissive of the ones that don't live up to our lofty accomplishments... He managed that after pulling Orton off the couch and using EJ the first 4 games of the season, and we played the Pats first stringers for a half (including Brady), and were still winning. It was a more impressive accomplishment considering how we won than what we did last year getting into the playoffs. In fact, there are plenty of articles about last year's team discussing how that wasn't even close to the best Bills team we've fielded the past 2 decades. It was also the last time the Bills fielded a decent passing offense (finishing 18th)...The best we've done since then is finishing 28th overall in passing offense. Dismiss him all you want, but he & Schwartz had this team headed in the right direction. He also managed to get a Blake Bortles lead Jaguars team to the AFC Championship game, and minutes away from the Super Bowl. That's better any coach we've had since Marv has been able to do, so don't pretend it's some easy feat or else we'd have done the same by now.
  9. LOL yeah... glad Tecmo doesn't make football games anymore. That was hilarious though, just imagining someone doing that in a real game with linemen & DB's jumping at him all over the field made me laugh quite a bit
  10. If only Allen could've used that cannon arm to put some more distance on that final pass... or at the least not thrown an ugly wobbler. Then again, if Clay had better hands, he could've still possibly caught the pass, as poorly thrown as it was. Man...I just really hate losing to the friggin Dolphins, and especially mediocre Tannehill.
  11. Uh what? Why is "inaccuracy" in quotations? You act like he's not definitively inaccurate... Also, it's not an excuse, it's reality. Accuracy is important, considering the primary job of the QB is to get the ball to his receivers, and being inaccurate doesn't allow that. This shouldn't be hard to comprehend. Only Bills fans would somehow convince themselves ACCURACY out of all things, isn't a vital component of a successful QB... Holy s*** people will go to stupid lengths to convince themselves everything is going swimmingly.
  12. Those stats for the Rams would be good enough for #1 overall on our team this year. Our best WR is averaging 38.2 YPG, 3 receptions, and has 4 TD's on the year (compared to Watkins' 8 TD's in 15 games). So even as their 4th most used WR, he'd be our #1 even with the stats he had. In regards to Benjamin, I would be shocked if he didn't play next year. Of course he's going to not look as into the game when you are part of this team compared to being with Super Bowl contenders like the Panthers & Chiefs. He had some of the least WR-friendly QB's throwing to him the past year & a half, and now gets to play on a playoff team, with a likely MVP winner at QB & a great offensive minded coach. The best he had to look forward to here was run blocking, a handful of targets in a loss, and to watch inaccurate QB's attempt to "manage" the game, as our HC wants to hide their weaknesses & limit the passing game as much as possible. The weather ain't great, the losing ain't great, the QB's ain't great, so how excited can you really be? Granted, he's a professional and should still put his best effort forward, but these players are human beings & succumb to the same emotions & pitfalls we all do. It's possible that being a 3rd or 4th option on a dominant team may even help his attitude even more than it would had he been pushed to a leading role. Less pressure, the best DB's covering other WR's, and more TD opportunities in the redzone. Winning, playoffs, more targets, a great QB, these things will all improve his mentality imo.
  13. I blame the Toronto series for my white cheddar Cheeto addiction. I resort to snack foods when the Bills upset me, and that specific snack food was a godsend.
  14. I mean, the dude came off the streets & blew them out in their house, imagine the godly numbers he'd put up in Buffalo! He's already had as many multi-TD games this season as Allen, has a higher completion % than Allen, is the only QB who's played for us this year that has more passing TD's than INT's, and averages 9.28 yards per completion, as opposed to Allen's 6.40. CLEARLY we have our franchise QB right here boys, or at the very least, the J-E-T-S A**KICKER EXTRAORDINAIRE! Hell, you could even give Allen all the 1st string reps just in case you wanna pull the ol' switcheroo after Barkely comes out to start the first drive. Obviously he doesn't need the reps, he proved last time the only reps he needs is with his WR coach throwing to him in a park! GET THAT MAN A PARK STAT! After he drives the field & gets us an easy 7 to start the game, THEN toss Allen in there to really make their heads spin. They'll be so psyched out, Allen can put it in cruise control from there & ride out the game. Barkley's been practicing this week by staring down a 747 on the tarmac at Buffalo International Airport for 7 hours a day, don't let his determination & commitment go to waste!
  15. Lol half this board pretends that passing up on Mahomes was a good idea, so don't judge everyone off that alone. Delusional & stubborn are many a Bills fan. But as much as KB didn't do squat for us, it's very likely he will do great for the Chiefs. WR's that played in Buffalo have their best years before & after leaving here. We are always stuck with awful offenses, coaches that think their only options to build a team are run-first, strong defensive units, combined with horrible QB play & even worse ideas on how to develop them. It's quite likely KB will thrive under Andy Reid & playing with Mahomes. There's no doubt Reid is a much better offensive minded coach, and without question, Mahomes blows anyone we have out of the water. Combined with Kelce & Hill (and eventually Watkins), that's a unit LOADED with potential. Worst case scenario, you have the most dangerous redzone threat combo of players in the league (and it's not even close).
  16. Clay has been open quite often when he's been playing. Our rotating group of underwhelming - awful QB's is what's killing this team. 1. A raw, extremely inaccurate, not able to read a defense rookie with a cannon for an arm 2. A 2nd year, 5th round pick who got yanked around to the point where he was never going to recover from the INT's he was throwing 3. A 78 year old veteran we got in an "oh s***, we f***** up" moment, who hadn't started since Nixon was in office. 4. A guy playing with some children in a park that was called up and asked "you played for USC at some point right? cool, you got the job!" Yes, that's a recipe for success! But don't forget our rookie holds onto the ball longer than any QB in the league (fact), our 5th round pick had a worse passer rating than had he just spiked the ball every play of the game (true fact), the veteran should've been there in the offseason, but then was asked to NOW train our underdeveloped rookie, and the park guy had the best game of any QB on our team this year! Don't forget, the O-line sucks, has given up a ton of sacks, and commits something like a trillion penalties a game! Yay for success! But man, let's get after Clay! When our current starter averages 12 completions a game, and averages 150 yards passing, what would you want to see from Clay? 2 catches for 25 yards a game, with a TD once every 5 games? I mean, in half the games Allen's played he hasn't even thrown a TD pass, and he only had his first multi-TD pass game last week, so it's not like Clay can be held responsible for that too, so I don't get what stats people expect from him? Keep in mind our TOP recieiver averages 38 yards a game ? So if you expect much better, might as well cut everyone.
  17. You don't remember that Dolphins game he tore them up? But really, when you have the likes of Josh Allen, Tyrod Taylor, EJ Manuel, Nathan Peterman & Matt Barkley passing to you, can you really blame him? Tyrod kept us at the 30th-32nd ranked passing offense consistently, Allen flip flops between throwing darts and throwing short wobblers, Peterman throws to the other team more than us, and the others are just happy to be on a roster if they can! Expecting anyone to standout in this mess is ridiculous & unfair. WR's that come here from other teams have their worst seasons in Buffalo. Outside of Watkins, WR's that leave here have their best seasons. It's not coincidence! In a league where teams put up record amounts of points, 300 passing yards in a game doesn't even get noticed, and the rules are set to favor offenses, protect the QB, and encourage passing, the Bills find it a success if we hit 150 yards.... Clay is not a problem, or even close to one of our biggest worries. We need about 4 better WR's before we need a better starting TE. We need about 3-4 new O-linemen before we need a better starting TE. If Allen plays like this next year, we'll need a new QB before we need a new TE. Point being, Clay is the least of our worries.
  18. Yeah... as underwhelming they have been, can we really afford to get even thinner at WR? Yet another one of pre-season criticisms come to fruition. All the over the moon optimists insisted our WR corps was fine, great even. Glad we wasted a 2nd round pick on Benjamin Sadly, it won't surprise me if Benjamin has a great season wherever he goes outside of Buffalo....just like so many others. Their best seasons tend to be before or after they come to Buffalo.
  19. You know who SHOULD sign Hunt? The Chargers. They just lost Melvin Gordon for at least a few weeks to injury, they're a high powered offense, are a game behind in the division at 8-3, have a great QB and have a good chance of competing in the playoffs. They're also in the same division, and play the Chiefs again in 2 weeks.
  20. Wouldn't really be giving him a second chance, as he's already been in trouble before, but I'd still say yes. In that case, yes, tee off good sir.
  21. Remember when we had Karl Malone's abandoned son on our team? Yeah...those were the days
  22. I've always thought the standing bison was so ugly and dull... There's something to be said for simplicity, but a freaking bison just standing there, derping around like the easy targets they were, always bugged me. It just makes me think of a big, dumb target that just meandered around while getting driven to near extinction due to how easy they were to massacre in droves. And with the way our team tends to play, it feels way too fitting. Could just as easily be a hanging sloth, tipped cow, a roasted pig, a beached whale, a meandering camel, a falling goat... I mean, any other exposed, soon-to-be-toast mammal lol
  23. Any time Allen wins while making a few awesome plays, the majority of people are willing to overlook every glaring issue that has remained consistent since long before he was even a Bill. I was really entertained at the beginning of the game, and was impressed by his determination running the ball, but it doesn't change his poor accuracy, his inconsistency (which isn't just due to him being a rookie...he's been that way forever), difficulty reading a defense, holding onto the ball too long, etc. But he has some nice strengths too, and deserves to be recognized for them. I'm worried he'll look like how he did following up the Vikings game though and try to keep every play alive by running the ball, leading to a ton of sacks. He ran for 2 TD's in the Vikings game, then went next week into GB & got smashed around for 7 sacks & a ton of hits trying to do the same thing. And although getting TD's on the ground is great, it's not a good sign when your QB has only 3 passing TD's compared to 4 rushing TD's...and compared to 5 INT's & 5 fumbles. Only surpassing 200 yards passing once in all his starts? He has just as many 100 yard rushing games (well, technically 99). If this wasn't a Bills QB, would anyone honestly see that & think that's normal & a good sign? Only having 1 game of 60% completions, whereas he averaged exactly 50% completions for all other games? Holding onto the ball longer than any QB in the league? I mean, people say we can fix these things, but we haven't seen any progress through this entire season, so what do the coaches have to do different? What makes you believe McDermott, the guy who you've seen handle & evaluate the QB position miserably this entire year, will be the one guy who finally cracks the Josh Allen code & makes him into a QB he's never been, only this time at the most difficult level? He couldn't do it against Mountain West opponents, but facing NFL defenses he'll make that kind of leap? I don't know, nothing like that has ever happened in the NFL, and expecting the Bills of all organizations to do it would be a miracle for the ages.
  24. The BBMB was no different than this. There were some idiot posts, there were some blind fanboys that though we'd go 12-4 every season, there were the downers who practically rooted against the team, and there were those who wanted to just have honest discussions about the team. All of that can be found here.
  25. That's not really being fair... What kind of fanbase bashes their players for simply WANTING to get better & help the team win? That's literally all he said, yet read the comments. It was rude, taunting, mocking, and insulting of a guy who just wanted to work hard & be an improved player, all of which he's done.
