  1. Let's not overexaggerate. The defense has been playing great all game. One TD does not mean the death of most teams. It's ok for a team to score 1 TD in a game. As long as the offense responds, it'll be fine.
  2. Uh what? A fade to Benjamin would be fine. And you don't know what he would've called. Any pass play would've been b*tched about on this board. The fact they didn't run is what I'm pointing to.
  3. C'mon guys...that was easily a catch. Far easier to discern than Benjamin's catch too.
  4. Yup. We can't get behind, even by a score, or we are in trouble.
  5. See guys, execution. If we did that & Tyrod missed the throw, everyone would be screaming we didn't run the ball.
  6. Well, first half is always our best half, so with us only mounting 3 points it doesn't look good. And playing from behind? We do even worse... Not giving up yet, but I'm still just happy we got here.
  7. They're selling out to stop the run, and McCoy hasn't exactly been known for pounding the ball on short yardage situations. A fade pass to the corner of the endzone to a tall receiving threat is a very common play call. Taylor just doesn't have the touch to hit those passes very often, as he usually throws too high, and Benjamin committed offensive pass interference to send us back 10 yards (Bills going backwards on 1st down, who would've guessed?)... The play call wasn't bad, it's the execution. We'd still have 2 plays to run it if it was incomplete, and even a 3rd if they wanted to go for it on 4th.
  8. I'm really just worried that now with the field position flipped Taylor will struggle passing to the right like Bortles did due to the wind.
  9. It wasn't flukey, it was a pass over the middle to a very covered guy that got tipped. Happens all the time. We should've had our own interception though with Tre White. Their WR did a great job though making sure he didn't hang on to the ball.
  10. On his last play instead of just lobbing it to nobody over the middle he should've thrown to Benjamin out left. He actually had space to make a play, and he'd have a chance at Taylor's high passes.
  11. He's made a few nice passes, but I'm worried about next half. Bortles has had his passes sail on him or go flying away in the wind passing to his right, so I hope Taylor doesn't have the same things affect him. I'd be happy with Taylor's performance today if he wasn't so consistently bad in the redzone. How many games do we just go backwards when we're so close to the endzone? It's getting ridiculous. He has no touch on his passes, doesn't throw to the right guys, and the defense has him covered on runs easily. We're also fortunate we had so many first downs via penalties against the Jags. If not for those, we'd have punted way earlier.
  12. Defense is playing great. I don't mind the aggressiveness at the end of the half like some. The execution was awful, but we had timeouts and were moving the ball decently. People always complain how conservative they are, which is half the reason we fail to ever put any teams away as we try to nurse a tiny lead all game, so trying to get a single 1st down is ok. And running for it 3 plays when they're selling out to stop the run wouldn't have done it.
  13. Blake Bortles has 6 4th Qtr comebacks in 4 years, which is ranked 169th all-time. Tyrod Taylor has 3, and is ranked 232 (dead last), tied with 46 others including JP Losman, JaMarcus Russell, Tom Savage, Heath Shuler & Kelly Holcomb. Bortles also passes for way more yards & more TD's (also more INT's), but not a huge amount. The most INT's he's every thrown is 18, but in the same season had 35 TD's. The most TD's TT has ever thrown for is 20 in his first year...then 17...then 14. Bortles averages 3,700+ yards a season, with 4,428 his top. TT averages 2,952 with his highest being 3,035. Bortles is ranked 17th in YPA with 7.05, while TT is ranked 23rd with 6.66 (IT'S A SIGN!) Bortles is ranked 12th in total QBR with 55.4 while TT is ranked 15th with 53.1. TT has a 62.6% completion percentage while Bortles has a 60.2%. I don't even think Bortles is a better or worse QB, I just rather have him in the playoffs as he definitely can put the game on his shoulders, can come from behind if needed, and can move the ball & score points, whereas if the Bills go down at any point you know TT cannot will them to victory. He's 3-21 all time when we go down by a single point in the 4th Qtr, so is that 170 yards & 1 TD really going to be enough to win in the playoffs? Is being last in the league in 3 & outs going to get us anywhere if the defense isn't dominant? If our defense was the same as 2014, I'd be fine with TT. But they're not that dominant. The only times we do win however are win they play insanely well & gift the offense a bunch of turnovers. If the Jags are just going to run it and pass sparingly, we're boned. If we had somebody who could chuck the ball around we might be able to stay in it and keep scoring. But if they go on long, 60+ yard drives running the ball, TT is the last QB you want back there. Going 3 & out and sending the defense right back out there just ends up snowballing, getting them more & more tired while the opponent chews up clock & sets the score further out of reach.
  14. Well, the Bills have shown they can beat the Chiefs, so out of all teams I want to win, it's them. Absolutely. That'd be a steal.
  15. At least your account got activated in time before the game... I'm still waiting for my account to activate over on the Jags forums But yeah, our run defense is definitely something to be worried about (for us).
  16. And of course some fan derailed the convo into Buffalo being a better place than Jacksonville, so obviously they took offense & the thread did a 180 into who was more likely to relocate...
  17. Yes, until you're spending a 1st round pick every few years replacing the same position. When we let Tre White go and spend another 1st on a CB, are we going to still consider it a win just because the next guy steps up? We also let our 2nd rounder in Darby go. Lots of wasted picks.
  18. Not going to say he doesn't have an impact, but that stat doesn't equal correlation. I could also venture that when the Bills have X amount of turnovers in a game, they have a high win percentage too, and that one makes more sense.
  19. So it can hit him squarely in the hands, bounce up and get intercepted, ran back for a pick 6 again?
  20. Accuracy - ranked 15th Yards Per Attempt - ranked 23rd Passer Rating - ranked 16th Yards Per Game - ranked 30th Time to Throw - ranked 3rd out of 41 QB's (3.01 seconds) Sacks - ranked 3rd highest (Gee, wonder if holding on to the ball so long affects that...) Avg Completed Air Yards - 28th (6.2 yards) TD's - ranked 25th Passes 20+ yards - ranked 20th Passes 40+ yards - ranked 26th Passing Offense - ranked 31st Sounds about right.
  21. Our offenses have been inept. It's like this year...when we were getting a boatload of turnovers but doing nothing with them. If it weren't for the defense gifting the offense those turnovers in opponent territory, the scoreboard would look much worse. Fortunately, the offense often started in FG range, so when they promptly went 3 & out, they could at least get 3 points. When the defense got turnovers in our own side of the field, it usually lead to a punt :/
  22. I for one welcome bandwagon fans, or any new fans for that matter! The more attention & bigger following we get, the more coverage & nationally televised games we get. Also, that leads to more revenue for the team which is always good, and if it we have any sustained success, ultimately will get us that new stadium quicker.
  23. I posted this in another thread, but I think I need to say it again, and why I think it's a mistake not to take a QB: People always say "lots of holes to fill!" as if the QB position isn't a glaring hole and hasn't been for 18 years, when discussing whether it's worth trading away picks to move up in the draft... The Bills have had the longest playoff drought in NFL history, and therefore are equating us getting in with some kind of sustainable success attributed to the QB. That's not the case, and look at all the other bad teams that HAVE made the playoffs sooner than us, and how they still weren't good for long after with those QBs.The Browns are now the longest active drought, but they got in before us. They made it with Kelly Holcomb (who almost beat the Steelers in those playoffs). The Redskins before Cousins made it in several times, but nobody remembers their QBs. The Bucs made it in with Jeff Garcia. The Jags made it in with David Garrard (and won a game). The Dolphins made it in with Chad Pennington. The Jets made it in with Mark Sanchez. The Titans made it in with Kerry Collins. The Broncos made it in with Tim Tebow, and before that Jake Plummer. The Rams made it in with Marc Bulger. The Bears made it in with Rex Grossman & later Jay Cutler. The Eagles made it in with Mike Vick & later Nick Foles. I'm glad we got the monkey off our back, but this doesn't mean we're suddenly settled at the QB position. It's still a glaring hole, and something we should seriously consider in the draft just as we were looking to do heading into the 2017 season. I'd be ok with that, although I'd hope we'd take someone in the later rounds this year to develop behind them.
  24. http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2018/story/_/id/21836489/2018-nfl-draft-quarterback-class-preview-background-scouting-reports-pro-fits This is a breakdown of the top 4 QB's along with a few notable others. It goes into detail about their 2017 season, their stats, "who is this guy & why should we care?" along with "what does the NFL think about ____?" Then Kiper & McShay seperately give their opinion on each QB's ranking of their position, coupled with what they think their overall draft position should be. They then discuss which teams are probably looking to draft a QB in the first round. Along with the Bills, they have: Pick No. 1 & 4 - Browns Pick No. 2 - Giants Pick No. 5. - Broncos Pick No. 6 - Jets Pick No. 11 - Dolphins Pick No. 13 - Redskins Pick No. 15 - Cardinals Pick No. 16 - Ravens (Projected) Pick No. 22 & 24 - Bills (Projected) Pick No. 27 - Jaguars (Projected) Pick No. 28 - Saints (Projected) Pick No. 29 - Steelers (Projected) Pick No. 31 - Vikings (Projected) Pick No. 32 - Patriots Kiper has them ranked: 1. Josh Rosen (No. 4 overall prospect) 2. Sam Darnold (No. 5 overall prospect) 3. Josh Allen (No. 11 overall prospect) 4. Baker Mayfield (No. 13 overall prospect) McShay has them ranked: 1. Josh Rosen (No. 1 overall prospect) 2. Sam Darnold (No. 3 overall prospect) 3. Josh Allen (No. 15 overall prospect) 4. Baker Mayfield (No. 27 overall prospect) They both have Lamar Jackson ranked as the 7th best QB without saying who 5 & 6 are, while honorable mentions go to Mason Rudolph, Luke Falk & Riley Ferguson. When it comes to the Bills, they say "It sure doesn't look as if the Bills are sold on Tyrod Taylor. And while they believe in Nathan Peterman to a certain degree, they also could jump if they find someone they like better in this intriguing class." It's already obvious from what we already know, coupled with what the article details about the NFL's thoughts on these guys that Rosen & Darnold aren't going to be a possibility for the Bills. Josh Allen & Baker Mayfield could possibly slide, but knowing how teams love to reach on draft day I highly doubt it. But at least with those 2 there's a viable chance the Bills could trade to move up, and not have to pay a King's ransom. I mean look at how much the Bears gave up just to move ahead one spot for Trubisky... that just shows how desperate teams get when wanting to draft a QB. And with the teams listed in front of us, the Browns and Giants are 100% going to grab a QB, with the Broncos & Jets likely going for one as well. The Cardinals situation is unclear, but even so it's unlikely Palmer/Arians/Fitzgerald will be there much longer. The Redskins are 50/50 with Cousins, so that's a toss up too. I don't see the Dolphins giving up on Tannehill, or the Ravens on Flacco just yet, so they're not worries to me. If we don't snag one of these top 4 guys, I'm fine with taking a flyer on one of the other prospects in the later rounds as long as they don't expect him to be come out & start right away. I really just hope it's not Mason Rudolph or Riley Ferguson. Anyway, thought I'd share the article as it's pretty interesting and a lot to think about.
