Week 4 Around the league.

This Dallas game is simply insane. It's hard to believe what I'm even watching is real. -
Is Mahomes better than Josh Allen and Tre White ... now?
BigDingus replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair, we didn't just sit in place & draft Josh Allen with the pick we got from the Chiefs. We gave up two 2nd round picks along with swapping 1st rounders, so you'd have to include that in the "is it worth it?" question. Second, you're asking based on their comparative results (or else why are you asking this "now?")... Josh Allen playing great these 3 games vs an MVP, Super Bowl MVP and Super Bowl victory... I think I'd still take the latter. -
No, you can't post things like that because they assign fault to Allen for poor passes in his first 2 seasons, and that is not allowed. It was all Daboll, the O-line, WR's, McDermott & the media's lack of faith! But seriously, Allen has shown REAL growth this year. I feel like I need to emphasize this, but whether he had Diggs/Brown/Beasley or not, whether the O-line played this well or not, he himself grew substantially between seasons 2 & 3. He's doing things completely separate from those other elements that show he as a QB has improved. THAT is what is important imo.

Now these guys say a lot of positives about him, but when asked what more they need to see out of Josh Allen, Nate's response is just DUMB - "You have to be as accurate as Russell Wilson, you have to be as poised in the pocket as Aaron Rodgers, you have to have the delivery of Pat Mahomes, he doesn't have that yet...Just know there's a separation of you & the greats in the game, then once you close that gap, then our conversation about Josh Allen will change." I completely understand the criticisms of Josh Allen, but this is a dumb take no matter how you slice it. You're saying he has to have all the best attributes of all the best QB's in the league to be considered a top tier QB? Since when is being perfect the criteria for being a top QB in the league? When he's currently playing on the same level as those guys, why does he need to then do everything they do best COMBINED just to be in that conversation? Again, I'll be critical when he deserves it, but this is a criticism I would never throw out there. "You only have to have to win as many Super Bowls as Tom Brady, put up numbers like Peyton Manning, and rush for as many yards as Barry Sanders...THEN you can be just in the conversation!" 😑

ESPN's Dan Orlovsky Making Case for Allen MVP
BigDingus replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is what we should really be excited about. Allen has shown now that he can learn, he can improve in key areas, and he can execute at a higher level, so give it another year, and how good will he be then? Accuracy is getting better (specifically on passes 15+ yards through the air), he's going through his reads, he's not throwing as many picks, and he is throwing with some touch when needed. If he continues to play like this but also learn to throw the ball away more often instead of taking bad sacks & can stop the fumbling, he'd be a strictly better Cam Newton. -
ESPN's Dan Orlovsky Making Case for Allen MVP
BigDingus replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, seriously? That's shocking... Wilson has been the Seahawks team for what, several years now? That guy has just improved to a stupid level & yet no MVP votes ever? I understand how people like Mahomes dominated the MVP voting when they did, but c'mon...Wilson has been playing such good football. Just checked his stats, 35 TD's to 7 INT's & 31 TD's to 5 INT's the past 2 years, 100+ passer rating, 66% completions, etc. yet not a single MVP vote 🤨 -
Since this board loves to talk about eating crow so much, shouldn't there be a big feast in celebration of Brian Daboll? I mean we love to blame the OC every time something goes wrong, but the guy isn't the one executing on the field. Seems like now the personnel is there, the skill is there, and the QB is there, and suddenly our offense is playing like a top offense should.

People say the media is biased against us, I've been in the camp that when we start winning & beating good teams, they'll give the Bills credit. Here's Dan Orlovsky making a case for Allen, even going so far as to say "And if that was Aaron, or if that was Russell, Tom or Drew, we'd be making a much bigger deal about that drive and those two conversions, and they win the game because of Josh Allen." If it weren't for Russell Wilson putting up even more ridiculous numbers, more people would agree through 3 games, Allen has taken a massive step forward. He does still make a few head scratching plays each game (like just not getting rid of the ball & taking a huge sack), but otherwise he's added key elements like touch passes, deep ball accuracy, and not locking onto his primary target pre-snap through throw to his game. And yes, I threw that one criticism in to incur the wrath of a certain diehard 😄

Unpopular take here...Tre is playing very meh

I'd agree, but I realized on this board, players we like can't be criticized or else we're "haters." Otherwise, I'd say your take is pretty accurate 😉 -
Gameday Thread Bills vs. Rams 2nd Half
BigDingus replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What the actual hell is going on... A couple sacks and he plays like a completely different person. Glad he made the 1st down pass, but man, he can't expect to have all day to pass on every down. M more short passes please -

You'd think after this many times making these same mistakes, he'd know to get rid of the ball by now... I'm sorry, this is just one of the most consistently damning thing he does. -

So have many coaches. Andy Reid is a great coach but was known for losing big games. Until he won a Super Bowl. -

Bad sack aside, 2nd half adjustments have been rough for this team for several years now. Always seems like every team just gets better against us after half. -

I thought everyone said it was Dabol that was the problem, now it's McDermott. Maybe Star was more meaningful to the line than people gave him credit for, and the injuries really matter. It sucks to watch, but the sky isn't falling yet. -
People like you are so sensitive, it's mind boggling. I feel like you'll have a nervous breakdown the next time Allen gets criticized for anything. "Trashed the kid," how? Show me one post where I "trashed" him for anything he didn't do. Please, go ahead. You do realize he's not going to go 16-0, and will likely have more bad games right? What happens then? You going flip out on anyone who talks about it? lol

Chiefs @ Chargers - Romo is always right!
BigDingus replied to Houston's #1 Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was the old Bills tradition! -
Actually ESPN says this: Josh Allen is an MVP candidate You guys. Seriously. Is Josh Allen, like, really, really good? He came out of Sunday's lightning delay in Miami as if he'd been struck by lightning and gifted with enhanced superpowers. Allen finished the day 24-for-35 passing for 417 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions for the 2-0 Bills. Allen is the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 700 yards and at least six touchdowns without an interception in his first two games. The others are Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, who have combined to win nine MVP awards. The verdict: NOT AN OVERREACTION. There has never been any doubt about Allen's physical gifts. The questions about him have been about accuracy and consistency -- whether he can improve the former and maintain the latter. He still seems to do one or two things every game that make it look as if he's playing his first game ever, but so far this season he has been as impeccable as anyone in the league. On paper, Buffalo has the best roster in the AFC East by far. Coming into the season, the only major question mark was Allen. If he has truly taken a major step forward and can maintain this level of performance throughout the season, he's in the discussion, because the Bills are going to win a lot of games.

I came here just hoping to see people talking about this play. Was not disappointed Seriously, missing open guys who have their man beat has been one of my biggest frustrations with Allen the past 2 years. Plays like this (and others he made today) show he has DEFINITELY improved in this area. And no, it's not just more talent around him...he himself has improved.

Josh Allen - week TWO report card
BigDingus replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey wait lol, I give Allen credit plenty, just as I am critical when I feel he should be criticized. If I was trying to unfairly twist the plot, I'd just say what a friend of mine said today & claim "all Allen needed was a great offensive line, a great receiving corps & a top 3 defense to be good...gee, I wonder if other QB's would excel with that setup?!" But no, this year Allen has shown a lot of improvement in one of his weakest areas (which he EARNED the criticism for), his passes 15 yards or deeper down field. The amount of times I've smiled today watching game highlights has been insane. I still am grinning thinking about the TD pass to Brown at the end. So ALL the credit in the world to Allen for making those passes. -
Really hoping with Diggs on the team, Brown gets more of the recognition he deserves. Even with Josh struggling on deep passes all year and being our primary focus, he still showed he was WAY more than just a speedy deep threat. With Diggs taking away some of the pressure, it could really open up Brown for a career year.

MMQB: Why the Bills are where they are
BigDingus replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ah, I see. Well there will always be those who personally invest themselves so much in an invidividual player that they take everything other than sheer praise as a slight, or can spin anything into a personal attack on their favorite player. There used to be a few posters around here who were DIEHARD Tyrod defenders....game after game, no matter how miserable he played, and if you so much as laid basic evidence out as to why he was the main issue, they went on a crusade against you lol. In regards to Josh, people should just understand there is going to be criticism of him while he plays like this. We take the bad with the good, not disregard all the bad & pretend it's ALL good. I mean in another thread about Diggs, I complimented how clutch he was & how impressed I was with his ability to hang onto the ball even after big hits, but since I said something like "even if Josh was to somehow flame out, Diggs would still be worth everything we traded for him," some guy got all pissed off & called that personally attacking Josh 😂 I mean... I didn't even say one critical thing about the guy. I was saying absent of the current QB, the massive amount of picks we invested to get Diggs + what we're paying him is worth it, so in a worst case scenario we aren't stuck with some highly paid player that falls apart without other pieces around him. Diggs is good independent of other factors. That's it. But damn will people get offended if you even speak a hypothetical about Josh lol
