  1. I hate to be captain obvious but isn’t this the same thing we’ve all been saying since last preseason? We need talent across the board. Were not signing and drafting every hole on the offense this offseason. So expect some no names and older retreads to mix in with either decent signings or talented rookies. Barring a trade we won’t have a prototypical #1 receiver either. Which if we’re judging from the teams in the playoffs this year isn’t a bad thing. Just need legit playmakers/weapons. At least 4 of them.
  2. I am sure they plan to add some speed at that position rather drafting or signing. I would expect a free agent we have to blow some of that money somewhere
  3. In my opinion the plan has always been to get the cornerstones of the franchise through the draft and sign mid tier level free agents for depth and hopeful progression into starter status. I would expect them to target younger players possibly unknown who have the ability to come in and accept coaching and have a lot of room left to grow. As opposed to vets who are already seasoned and set in their ways. With so much money they may target 1-2 top tier vets. Let’s hope that’s on the offensive line. We tend to look at the top 10 of all positions in free agency. I think Beane is looking more at 20-40 and thinking ok who do I have scouting reports on and who did I like in past drafts. Lastly every year all free agents are generally overpaid and 90% of the time that is usually the downfall to a team. If they were that good they would of never seen free agency to begin with. I like Beanes approach
  4. Lol so the Ravens with elite defense and running 85% of the game can’t win in this league? 8 of the top 11 rushing offenses in the league happen to be in the playoffs?? If you don’t like the guy fine.. But what are you trying to accomplish starting new threads with nothing to back it up? If you want to troll then at least pick some stuff someone could get behind like questionable challenges, or clock management or something. McD has some flaws but ground and pound with good defense has ALWAYS and will ALWAYS be successful in this league especially come end of season and playoff football time Oh and let’s not forget 3 of the 5 teams with rookie quarterbacks this season are all looking for new coaches. So it’s not like we can just get top pick of coaches with 8 openings
  5. I think Green would be an excellent fit here if he was available. A 2nd isn’t that terrible of a deal even given his age or injury concerns. He wont see the same amount of targets here as he does in cinci. But he’s a team first guy and a gamer. He plays through most injuries. Having him opens up the run game, if you can add a halfway decent tight end all of a sudden you could have a really potent offense. Green has to be double teamed which leaves all our guys with much easier coverage. I’d drop a 2 in a second. Of course I would also try and trade back from 9 in the draft and get someone else’s 2 to replace it lol
  6. Josh is everything I think we hoped for and more. He’s well spoken, a hard worker, and has a sense of humor lol. He showed real leadership and the ability to takeover a game. I look forward to seeing what he’s capable of when he has others on the team who can make plays for him. A screen for a 30 yard gain. A 45 yard contested catch. A long run? Instead of everything on his shoulders the entire game being able to rely on anyone else to make a play and dare I say takeover the game at their position. I am happy with what he has shown for his rookie season and while everyone should have some concerns with his game I don’t think anyone can say he was disappointing. And the send off for the off season vs Miami will give me even more hope for next season.
  7. I’m all in for a trade down if it’s at all possible. Theres a lot that will happen between now and draft time but I don’t think the drop in talent from 9 to say 20 is going to be that huge. Depending how our front office has these guys ranked I’d like them to load up and grab either an extra 1st next year or 2nd this year or something. Tackle is a need, but I’m not seeing Taylor Lewan kinda nasty lineman worth a top 10 pick. I’m no college expert so maybe I’m wrong I would just prefer to see the extra picks and possible extra talent added
  8. I think I’m the Joseph and Wilks situations it’s more they were supposed to be defensive guys and their defenses were quite terrible. Even more so for Joseph with the talent on the Denver D. If he would like to make a case for more diversity in the GM seats I guess I would be much more willing to listen to that argument. Coaches don’t produce they get fired. Some teams like the redskins and jags have been firing a ton in seasons past and elected for some continuity this year. Don’t think it’s a race thing in their cases
  9. He’s probably the best receiver in the league.. Pittsburgh ain’t letting him leave. Read above the cap ramifications they’d be handicapped big time for the next couple years. Ben won’t be there as long as brown is.
  10. Yeah he needs to come back. He’s not the pass rushing monster we all hoped with the high draft status but he has carved out a very valuable niche in this defense
  11. The Browns are still missing quite a few pieces to being an every year playoff threat. However for the first time in a long time they have a great young foundation and apparently the correct people in place to add actual talent. Let’s see who they hire for coach and draft and sign. They for sure are a few more playmakers from being a legit threat
  12. Wait he didn’t fire anyone yet? Get on the phone to the Pegulas time to fire everyone!!! Other teams are getting the jump on better coaches
  13. Am I the only one who thinks this is a great bargain signing for the jets? 20 mill guarantee for a 4 year deal for a starting caliber receiver.. they saved themselves a ton of money getting him signed now. He may have two years of injuries but that guy makes plays when on the field. I think it was a great signing for them. If you guys are thinking that’s overpaying I hate to see the reactions come free agency time.
  14. It’s kind of an unfair list, those are some of the most recent signings and extensions. Let’s get into the 5-15 range of highest paid
  15. I personally wouldn’t want bell. He screams I got 50 million guaranteed and I don’t have to ball out anymore. Of course that’s just my opinion of him. He earned his payday. No disputing that. What he does with it I’m not sold he’ll be the same player. But maybe that’s why I’m not a gm lol. I don’t have a ton of musts in free agency but I do think there needs to be a solid anchor for the offensive line. Rather it’s paradis or a rookie or whatever, there needs to be one rock solid starter who can take charge of that line for the next 4-5 years with Allen. The skill positions I don’t totally care, I’m not excited about the current crop of free agent talent. I liked the trade thoughts in the other thread today. I like possibly adding desean Jackson here. I’d trade a 6th and eat his 10 million salary for next season just to let him ball out here with Allen. He’ll be wanting to make plays and get one more decent contract next offseason. In the end though I’ll just be happy to see some steady handed guys who catch the ball at tight end , and maybe some more speed guys added in.
  16. I would fully agree. I would be happy to move on from the rest and see what some other hungry up and comers have to offer in their place
  17. I actually think he’s done an amazing job this season with this offense. Nobody calls perfect games. But I do think he’s done a great job designing routes for these guys to get open. They just tend to not make the play. I think Allen has come along nicely and better than expected. I absolutely love the 5 wide receiver spread out look we’ve been seeing. As coordinator you can design all the stuff you want, but if the players can’t execute even the simplest of plays (looking at the first few games mostly) what’s the point? We couldn’t run any decent passing plays without a hold.. Seems every decent run 10+ yards there’s a hold. How many touchdowns and catchable balls dropped? Or not classified as a drop but we know the receiver could make that catch we see tons of other teams making those plays. The 2018 buffalo bills left a ton of plays and points on the field on offense. I’ve been in almost every game day thread this season and a giant majority of us have been irate at our guys not making plays. Daboll has done a great job with this offense and talent given. That’s just my opinion and plenty can disagree. I can’t defend every move he’s made. But when it comes to him and McDermott I do cut them some slack on being conservative mainly because this offense has been pathetic most of the season just executing the simplest of plays. When things are actually flowing and going well they have shown they can call an aggressive game. As far as a head coaching gig, it’s tough to say. I don’t know or haven’t seen enough to know if daboll is a leader
  18. Trading away picks for proven vets sounds good. But that’s not exactly what they’ve shown they want. Just my opinion but they’re building a nucleus of young talent who have not peaked yet. It seems to be more about getting players who can accept coaching and progress. I’m looking at them possibly signing a lot of “who is that” free agents as opposed to “yeah he was the #2 rated guy at his position” i could see them breaking the bank for the offensive line in free agency but just my guess would be they’ll be targeting guys we don’t know that well in the hopes they come here and progress into starting caliber players. Sprinkle in hopefully some elite rookie level talent in the draft and they have a team. I expect more building blocks this offseason and the real “all in” moves the following offseason. Year 3 of Allen’s contract as long as he shows progress and is the guy is when you go all out to add as many big name players or contracts as possible. Either way, with a lot of huge names to retire soon (Eli, Ben, rivers, Brady, brees) there is gonna be some huge shakeups the next few seasons and teams rosters. Let’s hope we’re built to be the next team to step into the elite level for 10 years
  19. This may sound stupid.. But playing John Madden football is actually a decent way to learn about formations for both sides of the ball. You can only learn so much but honestly that’s how I taught my wife defensive differences like 4-3 and 3-4 and dime and nickel coverage etc etc.. Seeing the formations is a good way to learn what the sets look like. If you’re looking to get more in depth for say gap coverages and stuff I can’t help there
  20. I’m all for a new center. And a starting right guard in free agency. Not sure I’d want to pay what it takes to land those skill players though. I sure hope more become available. I picked Jesse James only cause I enjoy the James gang movies lol. I definitely hope we don’t spend on a running back. We may have to overpay a receiver or two just to get some legit possible starters in here. I don’t know, none of those guys really jump out at me as coming here and being much more productive than what we have
  21. Thats the funny part to this new “offensive rage” everyone seems to have. Bears and Rams are not legit offenses. The Bears at any given time can look like total trash on offense and Trubisky had a couple A+ games but is mostly an average to below average quarterback. Goff has had some success with his coach in his ear, but they have come up short in some big games, Gurley is the one carrying the offense usually and none of these offensive minded geniuses who apparently run the league now have won anything. A mediocre if not college level offense like say Baltimore can easily come in and shut down some of these top offenses if their defense is playing good. In certain areas I agree. Hue wasn’t helping Mayfield and Wilks certainly wasn’t helping Rosen. But Darnold really seemed to be coming along with whoever runs the jets offense. Given the Jets history of coaches and misses I would still be scared to be a fan of them and see what they may hire to coach Darnold
  22. If I’m a jets fan I’m kinda worried. Rookie quarterback who has shown some flashes of greatness along with flashes of being a turnover machine heading into year 2 having to learn a whole new playbook. That sucks. Jets are in decent shape like us as far as building blocks though. Definitely an important offseason for the east
  23. I think EJ had potential to be a decent quarterback. But as buffalo usually does we ran him out there too fast. I don’t see any real comparisons to Allen other than needing time to develop. The ceiling is completely different for each. EJ got shell shocked and could never recover. Had he gone to a team and sat a couple years and learned the pro level of the game before playing and had a smart coach he could of been decent top 25 kinda quarterback. Fringe starter I guess you could say. He just got shell shocked and his brain melted down. Some could argue maybe he never had the mental tools to begin with. He started out decent though he just got worse and worse and soooooo scared by the end.
  24. Yeah let’s not forget him and shady are buddies.. I have been on the desean hype train for a few weeks after seeing Allen and these receivers. He more than likely wouldn’t have elite numbers here but that’s not what we need. What desean does is mess up the oppositions defensive game plan cause they have to account for his ability to get deep. Which in my opinion says hello running game. Hes getting to the end of the line. Last decent contract he ever sees if he hits free agency. We can overpay and it won’t hurt while some younger guys are drafted/developed. I would just offer a 5th rounder first day you can trade for him and try and eliminate his options of signing somewhere else. He’s not a process guy,.... But we would say the same thing about shady before he came here I would imagine.
