  1. Look at his head coaching record for starters. And this defense while good is misleading because of the “rank” There is rarely pressure on the quarterback, soft zones that have been destroyed all season long with mid range easy passing attacks. The stats may get skewed over the pathetic offense for some of the season and teams letting up in the blowout wins. I’m not bashing the guy at all I just don’t see where he’s done such an amazing job here he’d be a hot head coach candidate
  2. I might be in the minority here but I want to keep clay and shady next season. But maybe I’m also misinformed and too lazy to look up the details. Isn’t next season the last year of both of their contracts? We aren’t hurting for the money why cut them? We obviously don’t want them to be starters anymore that part I get. But why create more holes you don’t have to? Let them play out their final years of their contract and draft/sign replacements who can win the jobs. The roster spot isn’t an issue until roughly next August what can it hurt? For the money they are making and the terrible seasons they’ve had it’s not like they will holdout or demand to be cut. Neither is getting that salary on the open market. And they are both in contract years. I have never seen a player in the last year of a contract give minimum effort (until KB this year) I see a team like Cleveland who signed Hyde and had Duke Johnson yet drafted Chubb. Hyde started out the year, Chubb lit it up and won the job and Cleveland fleeced the jags for a draft pick. That would be my mindset for next season. If McCoy has anything left in the tank he will impress and either be an elite level back, or traded for a pick. Worst case he’s out of gas and rides the bench and a younger guy takes his job. I just see no reason to get rid of them until replacements are in place. It’s not our money. Lol we aren’t saving anything and the team will be hard pressed to spend ALL the money as it stands right now
  3. I will weigh in for a couple points I’ve seen. Allen and accuracy issues don’t worry me too much. I’m no professional but I’ve seen him trying to be smarter with his throws and check downs. They weren’t pretty but at least someone is showing him in the film room his chances at check downs and touch passes and he’s trying to adjust. You can have a TEAM who plays together and can help hide some accuracy issues. Mike Vick in Atlanta comes to mind as he could chuck it 50 yards on a dime and run like a maniac yet the guy couldn’t hit a 5 yard crossing route to save his life. He was terrible in short yardage accuracy. Luckily for him Alge Crumpler saved his behind a lot. What I have seen with Allen is the ability to takeover a game at times and being able to carry a team. He seems good at getting the team organized and to the line and having the play called and not getting delay of game penalties. I think the TEAM can have some success with his as a quarterback if given some playmakers. I see a lot of chatter about a true #1 receiver. In my opinion that don’t matter, in today’s NFL you just need playmakers. KC and the Rams don’t have a true #1 yet they have lethal passing attacks at times. It’s all scheme and matchups. Julio Jones and Hopkins are great but they don’t grow on trees and they also see 15 targets a game to get those numbers and I think in Jones case it hurts the falcons Matt Ryan forces throws to him non stop when other guys have to be open. As for our “rebuild” status and those calling Allen and Edmonds busts it’s still too early on. Lots of talk of next year next year. The rebuild is never complete. For anyone. It’s a constant shuffle of talent in this league and those who make playoff runs yearly are hitting on the talent they add. We have some money and draft capital to add some talent to important positions this offseason. This regime has proven time and time again they want guys who work harder and are about the team. That’s the mentality they want and they won’t settle for anything less. Next year I see the team being competitive. That’s my only expectation. Not super bowl favorites or nothing crazy. Just a hard team to beat who hopefully can get hot at the right times and make a playoff run. I like McDermott and I like what he wants to do. I just don’t think we’ve been able to see what they want to do yet. Anyone hoping/looking to see the chiefs and a lethal air attack I think will always hate McDermott cause that is not who they want to be. You can have success in this league, right now.. Running the ball effectively, working the play action and controlling the clock playing a stout defense. That’s been a recipe longer than a large portion of this board has been alive and guess what? It still works. With a run game, and some playmakers on offense this team could win now with the rag tag talent. Add in some hungry playmakers and competitive gamers and they can make some noise. Give me a Christian McCaffrey/Darren Sproles hybrid type runner/receiver and a desean Jackson/John brown speedy receiver to pair with a reliable hand Jared cook type tight end and some talent on the offensive line and this team is ready to win games now. Youre never gonna be all pro at every position. Stop looking to fill 12 holes. Fill 5 important ones and it’s a successful offseason. Other players will step up none of us expect to
  4. The Carolina connection was always overblown anyways.. mostly cause we held onto guys like Webb and Tolbert even though we knew we could have better talent. Mcdermott wanted guys he was familiar with to run the locker room, hold guys accountable etc etc that’s why we originally had so many Carolina guys while mcd familiarized himself with other locker room leaders who were here.
  5. I would set my sights on Desean Jackson for receiver. Tampa would probably drop him for pennies on the dollar. His speed even now is something I’d love to see and defenses would have to continually gameplan for. Between him and Foster josh should have plenty of chances to air things out and keep the defenses honest against the run game. And of course if shady sticks around they’re buddies. I would rather see buffalo trade for an established vet at receiver than sign some of the “up and comers” who haven’t quite produced much and might not once they get paid. Looking at you Tyrell Williams lol. I kid I kid. But I would like to see desean traded to here for like a 5th or 6th round pick. Pretty sure I read a resport not to long ago Tampa is wanting to move on from him
  6. This.. Lets not forget when looking at the all “precious” numbers so many seem obsessed with how many tackles brown made after the ball carrier already had 4-5 yards before he could get there. The Brown we screwed up not resigning in my opinion was Zac brown in Washington. Imagine the speed with him Milano and Edmonds. Anyways I would pass on Preston. He obviously didn’t like buffalo much
  7. Not to play the race card but only way I see anyone even interviewing Frazier is over the Rooney rule. Maybe he brings more leadership than defensive coordinator skills but if we’re basing it off of what he’s done here, with this defense I wouldn’t think that warrants a head coach gig
  8. What do you need the money for? Keeping him around doesn’t hurt the teams ability to sign anyone or draft anyone Cutting him just creates another void. He is likely the only vet left on offense and a team captain. He can still contribute just not at an elite level. You don’t cut people unless you need the cap savings or already have someone to step up and take the job
  9. There’s zero reason to cut McCoy.. Is he an elite runner still? Highly doubtful. But the bills don’t need the money. You draft/sign guys and let someone win the job. It doesn’t hurt to keep McCoy around as a change of pace back or trade bait next season. The only way it makes sense to cut him is if he’s a locker room distraction or causing a legit issue with the players/coaches. Which has not actually been stated or proven. I’m not a fan of his, never was even on the eagles. He has ALWAYS been a -2 -2 -2 runner who can break a big one and make up the yards later. He just hasn’t broken any this year, which is on the line. None of the runners can break anything. We see positive 4-6 yard gains by bruising backs keeping their legs moving. That’s not McCoy’s game. Give him a hole and he can still hit it for a decent gain. There are no holes for any of the backs. Hang onto him but for sure add talent to the mix
  10. His completion % don’t mean squat. He did some things today that’s an improvement. Dump offs and touch passes that we’ve all been clamoring to see. They weren’t the best passes but he’s adjusting and working on his game weekly. Who cares what the % is? He can be a 35% completion passer for all I care, I just want 3rd down conversions and touchdowns. He’s shown he can make plays. That’s good enough for year one.
  11. Yeah we’re totally in trouble with stars salary the next few years. Fire Beane he set this team back years with that crazy contract now we’ll never be able to sign anyone else to play
  12. Foles doesn’t want out of philly. Didnt we read last year he was gonna retire if not in philly?
  13. You expect these guys to go all out in a meaningless game? They’re not trying to save his job, not in the playoff hunt.. And they have inexperienced players trying to lockdown jobs for next year. They are not starting caliber but players thrust into starting jobs playing meaningful snaps in a nfl game. They do not have the talent to compete. This is one of those games you can easily say a play made here and there changes the entire outcome. People are acting like the bills were never in the game. They had a million chances to make the plays and be in or even win this game. Run defense sucked and the offense could not make any plays even though Allen put them in position to make them. What more do you want? If they add quality talent at skill position (see the rams offense for example) and this team still sucks then yeah revisit this topic and fire the guy. This season is growth and development. Can’t judge the coach and his decisions with such a talentless offense. They are not filling ALL the holes this offseason, however at this time next year we will have some answers if josh is 100% the future, and if McDermott is sticking around. He’s the coach, this year and next so like it or lump it..
  14. They had a out route to the left wide open on that 3rd down play. Josh just never looked as pressure was coming.
  15. At this point I fully agree. Let’s get this kid out there and throw 50 passes. We are here to evaluate the quarterback and receivers. Throwing it a ton will also help evaluate the line. If we 3 and out a bunch and get smoked by Brady and lose it’s no big deal. Gotta let it rip these last couple games
  16. That is the sorriest bunch of receivers I have ever seen lol. Somehow I like them though.. I don’t have high hopes for this game, I think Brady will eat this defense alive with Edelman over the middle. Still excited to see if Allen can raise his game once again and pull off a shocker
  17. It was kinda. To simplify it Lynn has done a good job there. When Rivers falls off though they’re probably not going to be a very good team which will probably cost Lynn his job. Unless they have a decent quarterback ready to take over. The new stadium opens 2020 and you gotta sell tickets which isn’t easy to do in LA, gotta have a winning team or it won’t sell. If the Rams continue to be a top team and the chargers fall off or Rivers hits the Father Time wall there will be a lot of pressure.
  18. Didn’t look so good today against the Lamarcat offense.. Lynn certainly isn’t a bad coach, but the rivers window is closing and if you can’t get this group into the Super Bowl this year it’s quite possible this is it for them. Gordon Bosa and Allen are hurt a lot, seems their secondary is always hurt for like the last 10 years. Father Time comes a calling for rivers and Lynn might be out of a job before McDermott if they don’t have a good replacement lined up. This LA market ?? pressure is on from the nfl to build winners there
  19. Good for Nate. I don’t dislike the guy he was just never ready here. He never should of seen the field or sniffed a real down in the regular season. Maybe some practice squad time will help him secure a backup job
  20. Thank god this prediction got its own thread. I was just about to start one and say “it’s a lock the panthers lose”
  21. This is no surprise. There is a reason the term “defense wins championships” came about. No this isn’t the old days of lockdown defenses like the ravens, bucs or bears of old. However there is something to when the games really start to count and the pressure is on towards the end of the season defenses start dominating. Weather turns ugly in some areas and each possession starts to mean a little more. I also believe you can still win in this league with a top 10 defense and an offense that can control the clock. This is my main belief that I didn’t jump on the Chiefs being so elite like the media loves to do. They score quick and have big play potential every down, but they leave their defense out on the field a ton. When games start to matter more and there’s more pressure im not so sure they can continue to have this big play offense.
  22. I’m not a big fan of shanahan but I’ll give credit where credit is due.. What he’s done with that team this year is pretty amazing. I didn’t think they could win more than 1-2 games without jimmy g but he has that offense running quite well with very little proven talent. Next man up over there continue to make play after play
