  1. The solution has already been happening. You bring in youth or inexperienced players at that position and challenge them to win the job. If clay or Murphy lose their job oh well, but even while expensive at least they’re depth. You cut them and you risk having even worse depth. Lots of people thought Lawson was gone in preseason rather traded or cut, good thing he wasn’t as he’s been a good player this season. If we sign or draft defensive ends or tight ends it doesn’t mean you have to get rid of veterans with bigger contracts, you only do that when you need the cap space. They can stay on as depth/mentor type players who can still step in and play some when there’s injuries. I’m pretty confident beane will sign talent even if it’s a position we seem ok at and he can get value
  2. I rewatched all Allen’s throws and runs from the game, both guards and center really looked to get man handled on a lot of plays. Teams are going to start gameplanning a lot more for Allen’s running I expect to see a really bad rookie game for him once a defense can stop his running. I think the line as a whole was below average for that dolphin game. Let’s hope a little continuity builds for next week
  3. What is the point in cutting Murphy? Do we need the cap savings? Does his salary next season prevent them from signing anyone?
  4. It’s all a moot point.. Clays here nick is in Miami. My opinion don’t matter which one was here you’re gonna get roughly the same production from either. Our current tight ends and O’Leary aren’t very good. Clay and McCoy’s deals will probably run out and they’ll be ready for retirement. I expect some more talent added at both positions next year. Cap is not going to be a big issue the next few years unless they do some really stupid stuff
  5. Ok well here’s the real question then.. Theres 90 million available to spend in free agency, does keeping McCoy stop them from signing anyone? Will his cap savings be the difference in landing decent players? And can they bring in anyone who can do what shady does for the same or less money? I’m sure they can find someone cheaper to dance around for 2-4 yard losses lol, but the leadership role he’s assumed on the team is hard to replace
  6. I’m kinda shocked how many people want to cut shady.. In a year we don’t need the cap savings? Pay the guy, let him play, draft a younger guy or sign a free agent to compete in the committee. Rather he’s lost a step, or the line is just that bad there’s zero reason to cut him. He has leadership qualities just like Lorax and Kyle and it’s not like we’re hurting for the cap relief. He could be trade bait next year or be a key rotational player in a committee. At this stage with so much cap and a mostly set defense there’s no reason to create more holes. We are desperate for anyone on offense who can make plays so of course we need to add talent all across the offense. I just don’t see a reason to cut McCoy, he can still be a weapon. And im no shady fan really, I think a lot of people forget this is the runner he’s always been. Dancing and losing yards all the time, only difference is he’s not ripping any big runs this year to offset all the losses
  7. Just too early... Never understood mocks to begin with but it’s soooooo far away to do them now
  8. The worst part is I actually believed this was a real thread!!!! That’s the state of this message board....
  9. As others said, don’t matter good pass or bad pass. It’s 100% on Clay. Been invisible all season, against your former team, WIDE OPEN.. You catch that ball. 7 million reasons you can make that one dang catch. And as others have said, to even get that throw off is a win for Allen. That’s #1 on the sports center top 10 if clay just grabs the ball and doesn’t trip on his own feet. Clay has choked multiple times in his tenure here. He should be gone ASAP. He brings nothing to the team.
  10. Fitz maybe, but Losman and Edwards didn’t show any greatness for me. Fitz had a few games he looked like a real gunslinger here but faded once the tape was out. Weve definetly never had this much potential at quarterback, it’s easy to get excited. Just gonna have to see if this kid can work hard enough to reach that potential. If we’re aiming high, he has the potential to be a top 3-5 quarterback in this league with his tools of running and arm strengths.. But that’s light years away if he ever gets there
  11. For me anyways he seems to base these kinds of calls on how the team is playing. When they are executing plays effectively he doesn’t seem to mind being aggressive. But when they’re struggling to run the simplest of plays and picking up penalties non stop he seems very scared to risk anything. You can look at it two ways, when the team is struggling maybe an aggressive playcall sparks them, or maybe an aggressive playcall causes more damage. I didn’t like the safety challenge, or waiting to call the timeout when there’s 10 seconds on the play clock before halftime. Being a newish coach still I expect these kinds of mistakes. And I prefer he learns from this stuff on a lost season than say when the games mean more in a real playoff hunt. I don’t want to see this team this year in a playoff game. Has embarrassment written all over it
  12. If anyone on the team deserves the right to freak out over officials it’s Jerry. I used to hate him for how many stupid personal foul penalties he’d get, but he’s smartened up. And not just as a bills fan but someone who watches a lot of teams, he is held more than anyone else I’ve ever seen and they almost never call it. And he generally just keeps on with his business. His speed means he almost has to be held to make it fair and the refs agree. Regardless of what the ref said to him something was clearly up with this game. The Bills can commit enough stupid penalties all on their own they don’t need help. But the calls missed from the dolphins was very shocking to me. I’m not a conspiracy refs cost us the game kinda person but they were extremely one sided on the calls today
  13. That fumble wasn’t really on him. Tripping at the goal on the kickoff was quite silly though. What concerns me the most is they get a penalty every single return. It’s on the players to stop getting these stupid penalties but something is not working with his unit
  14. I’d suggest changing the thread title. Little misleading as you made it sound like they fired him. Which I agree they should
  15. I agree. It only takes one team though. I can totally see someone like Indy giving him 2 years 20 million as a “red zone threat”
  16. Almost all quarterbacks are up and down. He had one pick, bad throw. And a few more terrible throws like the Zay td miss. But he marched them right down the field to win the game, and made an amazing play and throw that gave them a shot. He’s completely hit or miss I find the easy throws and reads he misses very concerning. Just saying overall the kid can’t win with this crowd. Last week not enough stats, this week no win. I found his game to be incredibly encouraging today. Lots of young players tuck tail playing badly in the first half
  17. He’ll survive the season only cause of the comp pick when someone overpays him. But he should be inactive, should have been for weeks
  18. He did everything he could do for the win. Last week we win and his stats suck so he needs to do better. This game we lose and he has decent stats but he didn’t win the game cause clay can’t catch a wide open ball?
  19. I will gladly stand by my stance that mayfield will never be much better than he already is. Which isn’t a bad thing he’s a top 20 quarterback. Guess we can agree to disagree at this point
  20. Fully agree there’s a lot of plays and yards left on the field. Lot of work to do to progress to a starting quarterback level
  21. All I said was he’s the more exciting rookie qb. Mayfield is a finished product. He was pro ready. Not much room to grow for him. I would expect he’ll make the plays in his rookie year. That wasn’t the point
  22. Why? Where’s the Mayfield hurdling Barr? Or insane throw to foster? Just talking highlight reel plays here not overall stats or nothing. Mayfield or Barkley is rookie of the year there’s no doubting that. But Allen’s highlight plays trump the other quarterbacks. He’s made plays only maybe Wilson or Rodgers could make in this league
  23. Mayfield cannot make the same runs or highlight reel plays. He’s having a better season stats wise, but he also has a little more talent to work with.
  24. Love him or hate him allen is by far the most exciting rookie quarterback this year. He has the least talented offense but makes plays rather running or throwing you don’t see any of those other quarterbacks making. Mayfield has had some success but no way he provides the same excitement
