  1. I don’t see any scenario where McDermott is let go this offseason. I know the coaches and gm are being judged extremely harshly and deservedly so, but I honestly don’t think they’ve shown their true skills yet. McDermott has coached two teams that really lack talent or experience, that severely limits what you can call, what gambles you can make, and what confidence you have in your team to execute. I see a lot of “fire Daboll” “fire McDermott” etc etc but these guys can scheme and call any play in the world, doesn’t mean anything if the players cannot execute it. Daboll has called some great plays and schemed some great routes and the quarterbacks miss the open guy. Plays where there’s good protection the receiver runs a lazy route or drops the ball. Good run and there’s holding. This season has really been the perfect storm of inexperienced and under talented offense. No matter what beane and McDermott and Daboll are here next year. Crossman and Castillo and even Frazier might have a little sweat on their brow though.
  2. Contracts factor into this some as well I believe. Helps for sure having the top paid skill positions on rookie deals.
  3. Between draft and free agency I don’t see why not. Still might be lacking a little depth, but no reason we can’t see a giant improvement in talent and skill level
  4. They will have zero problems signing players. Free agency is the big pay day for established younger players, and for aging vets. The older guys may want to chase a ring but that’s not the guys they want anyways. Money talks. Best offer wins. Basically every single team in the nfl overpays in free agency. We will overpay some guys as well. Some guys (Brown in Bal) elect to sign one year “prove it” deals because their market value is too low. In his specific case he may have been smart. A 3 year deal in buffalo could be equal to the one year in Baltimore. His stats started out good this year, so his guaranteed money will go up a lot next year as long as he stays healthy and productive this season, meaning if buffalo wants to offer him a contract next offseason it’ll probably have to be double what it was this past offseason. I think they have zero issues bringing in quality free agents. We don’t need a #1 receiver, just some weapons. Very few teams actually have a true #1 receiver. We need some speed, some reliability, and an upgrade on overall talent at receiver, tight end, and offensive line. Given the current group do you really think it’s that hard to find better talent? There are going to be guys available, they just might not be superstar house hold names.
  5. Mostly pass rush. If you’re gonna play a zone you better get to the quarterback within 3-4 seconds
  6. Ok one quarter down. Fire the special teams coach fire offensive coordinator bench McCoy peterman is scared off to a good start ??
  7. They won’t fire him. Possible they evaluate the position in the offseason but they aren’t canning the guy mid season regardless. It’s the least talented offense in the league
  8. To be fair, he is the runner he always has been. His entire career he’s been a dancer. Tons of no gains or minus yards and every so often breaks one. Only issue is this year he’s never broken one really. Hard to say if that’s him or the defenses he’s facing having so many guys around the line of scrimmage. The team would be better off starting ivory and having shady as the change of pace and receiving back
  9. It’s kinda hard to say that now. I don’t know if they’ll have success or not but can’t judge KC or LA after a year or two. They can compete now, but in two years? It’s debateable. Have to revisit in a couple years
  10. To be fair, and I could be wrong..... But has there ever been a gm/coach duo who has actually attempted this on this large of a scale? I know plenty of gm’s who came in and moved a few guys. Just not sure I have ever seen anyone almost completely gut a team and completely rebuild it. I personally don’t like the product on offense this year but I actually like what they have done and the position they’re in for next season and the future. I’m a little on the fence on Allen so it all hinges on that
  11. To me it’s strictly down to the quarterback, all 3 have missed wide open guys. I think Daboll has actually done a decent job scheming guys open as well, generally the quarterback never sees it or the pressure is on so fast they can’t get the ball out. There isn’t a lot of talent but still, plenty of times guys are running open. The games Allen played he could of put up really good numbers he just couldn’t make the reads and progressions fast enough and started getting happy feet wanting to run all the time (which is understandable) As a whole the group is bad, but if the quarterback play was better we wouldn’t be talking historically bad
  12. Similar to the chiefs offensively in my opinion. The bears offense is scheme specific. Don’t get fooled by all the motions and shifts. Spy the QB and try to watch Cohen on the passing game and they are not very good. From the few quarters I’ve watched them they can’t just line up and make plays. Has to be lots of shifts and trickerations to confuse the defense and free guys up. Unlike the chiefs though they don’t have as many formations and weapons to do it a full game
  13. I think they do have a decent/good defense. But third down conversions and plays over the middle seem to always be exploited in the most crucial situations for them, which definitely devalues them in my book
  14. I never said they would suck, but anyone who thinks they would of had the same level of success this short in their careers here given the weapons we lack would be crazy. Both guys have looked like they could be all pros in the future, my only argument is with the “someone needs to be fired cause we didn’t draft them” crowd because the odds are insanely high they would not look like the same quarterbacks here. In the future maybe but not this fast in their careers. Bills, Texans, and Chiefs are all in different stages of roster building with buffalo being the weakest.
  15. What are the odds Watson or Mahomes is successful here? Even with the players lost via trade and free agency. Why is it a given they “missed” on these picks? Watson is a year and a half into his career and what 6-7 games for Mahomes? While im not sold on Allen as a franchise guy I just don’t see the fascination with other quarterbacks we could of drafted instead. totally different systems and team situations.
  16. You never know who becomes available for free agency. While clay can be serviceable I’m sure someone productive with a little more athleticism will be around to sign without breaking the bank. Kroft in cinci seems decent, Baltimore has some young guys becoming available. Or veterans like Jared cook etc etc. Im just not sold the guy is a baller. He just seems to always be going through the motions out there. Like he’s not hungry anymore
  17. I would definitely bring back Yarborough and Phillips, and I fully agree this is clays last season here. I’m really not worried about the offensive line, I think they’ll land 2 eventual starters from the draft. But some depth free agent signings would be smart. The hard one is finding a legit receiver. We are going to need an elite type guy
  18. I fully support this regime. I am all in seeing free agency and the draft next year along with the final product starting game one. For me, seeing what team hits the field next season is the judging point in my eyes. After that season finishes I will either be happy or getting out my pitchfork. Anyone calling for a firing right now is INSANE. There are plenty of questions and hints of things to be concerned about with this staff, but until they finish the job they started McD should be safe. Come next year if they completely wiff on free agency and have a bad draft and put another bad product on the field and suck I fully support a change to an offensive minded coach who won’t tear the defense apart. I expected bad things last year and this year, and I have the patience to laugh this season off at how badly they look.
  19. I hate to disappoint but there’s like a 95% chance they have zero interest in trading for talent. This year is the youth movement. Let the kids and aging vets play it out and see who wins a job for next year. I could see Benjamin being traded since his deal expires and we all know they don’t want him back. Unless shady is asking to be traded he ain’t going nowhere. Neither is Hughes or clay. This is just my opinion but other than KB all those guys are building blocks for next year. Their contracts don’t hurt the team next year and it’s easy to unload them during or after next year. This is a lost season, think of it as extended preseason. Do Zay, mcloud, croom or Murphy improve? Are they worth keeping next year? Miller and Dawkins, groy or bodine? They are coaching these newer or younger guys up and seeing what they have for the future with them. When the seasons over they will know exactly what they are targeting in free agency and the draft. They aren’t building this team with draft pick trades. I know I know last year they traded non stop. But that was tearing down not building. Once the playoffs looked like a reality they got KB. They are wanting to build a core of rookie contracts who will be here a long time. Most of the players mentioned by the OP are just temporary stop gap guys not building blocks.
  20. I mean I still don’t see that as not being able to judge offensive talent. A large portion of those moves were not to build an offense. They were stop gaps. Emergencies. They haven’t built the offense yet. Its development for younger players, and aging vets with simple contracts who can be moved on from with ease. I honestly don’t think they’ve given two sh**s about an offense since they got here. They almost have their defense built exactly how they wanted. They got some pieces they can work with for the future on offense. I have always expected next offseason to be the year they focus solely on building the offensive side of the ball for the scheme they want to run. I don’t think this years scheme is what they want at all. Just a dummied down simplified version similar to a larger preseason playbook
  21. I have watched some of his games. I disagree he’d be a star on most other teams. He forces throws like crazy when the pressure is on. Some of his biggest plays are wide open receivers and the easiest reads ever. Hes not trash I do think he’ll be a good quarterback. Just not enough time played to give him any kind of elite status
  22. Well it’s pretty cool you know the future, any chance you can dm me the winning lotto numbers? Not even half a season and you got the guy in Super Bowls filling Brady’s shoes? This sounds really similar to Watson last year, RGIII a few years back.. I hope you don’t think I’m saying the guy is trash, he’s not. He is obviously talented. But he hasn’t accomplished nothing in my eyes yet. As I said earlier I’d like to see a game or two without Hill and Kelce and see how many interceptions he throws, if he can still run a high octane offense, if it’s as easy to scramble around when defenses can actually play one on one coverage. Thats my point behind the whole thing. All anyone has seen so far is their offense running at 100% No real adversity. No real scheme changes or gameplans since everyone is healthy. Nobody makes it through a season with a fully healthy offense. Then maybe I’ll jump on the bandwagon and be willing to give him elite status.
