  1. All the talk and hype of a “true #1 receiver” is soooooo overblown. If this season showed the trend it’s that having a legit #1 guy means squat. Brown-Steelers no playoffs AJ Green-Bengals no playoffs Deandre Hopkins-Texans lost in playoffs Odell-Giants hurt and no playoffs Cooper-Cowboys knocked out Thielen-Diggs?-Vikings looked bad Adams-Green Bay no playoffs Golloday-Lions no playoffs Julio-Ridley Falcons no playoffs Evans-Tampa no playoffs Thomas-Saints probably your only real #1 guy who made a legit run Maybe im missing some or don’t consider some as true #1’s and probably listed some that aren’t too. Point is having that #1 guy is not that important. You just need weapons. Brees and even the pats and rams show how it should be done. Spread the ball to multiple weapons and ride the hot hand. If anything having the defacto #1 guy hurts a lot of teams cause they force targets all game long and other guys don’t always get a chance to get in any rhythm. To add further, it’s looking like the only way to have a lethal offense is a really solid tight end, running game, and that legit speed receiver. Back to the point of the post I too am confident we are heading in the right directions and are building a solid core to the team. I have questioned what in the heck these guys are thinking especially year one dumping all the young players but now that the path looks to be laid down I get it and fully understand what they’re going for. We should ascend at the perfect time of the pats and dolphins rebuild and I’m really not overly impressed with the jets roster.
  2. Yeah I can see a vet locker room leader kinda guy like kyle.. which IMO would be Thomas Davis. You want vets who work hard and smart and can help mold this young core. I don’t think Marshall fits that.
  3. Kap knew his career was over. He made his “stand” and lost his job. Many players have lost their jobs due to becoming a distraction in the locker room (media) Is he blackballed? Maybe. Is Tebow? Or is it they are just not NFL quarterback material? Kap is riding this victim thing to huge paydays outside his NFL life. Eric Reid took the knee, was finally signed by Carolina, has a good season and is rewarded with a new shiny 3 year contract. Fact is Kap doesn’t want to play, because he’ll be exposed and lose all his hype behind his “movement” This isn’t a race issue. It’s not solely because he took a knee. Tebow was as much if not more of a distraction for his teams and he too was let go. I don’t have a beef with the guy, but I find it kinda sickening he’s in the news still. I’m all for equal rights and less racial issues in the country, and of course don’t support police abusing power.. However this douche should not be the cover boy for these issues. There are thousands and thousands of educated men of different races who could be the face of equality, it should of never been a washed up NFL player holding tightly to his last 15 minutes of fame
  4. I’ve never been a big fan of Garçon. I’m still holding out some hope more vets are released. I wouldn’t jump on the “fire everyone” bandwagon if they signed him up on a 1-2 year team friendly deal. Ya never know we may see an influx of vets released soon. Possibilities like Sanu, D-Jax or maybe even Marvin Jones etc etc.. But Garçon does fit that vet need, depending on the route OBD is taking he may be a good get for them
  5. Minus the fact RGIII already knows the offense and team. He did something right last year with their coaches to stick around.
  6. I don’t see why Tyrod would be in Baltimore. They seemed to really like RGIII.. I would actually expect tyrod more to the jags. Even if they land Foles, Taylor is exactly what they have been looking for. Someone who can make a play every so often, but will not turn the ball over. I would also think Tannehill to the redskins or even giants. Dalton probably stays put, although I wouldn’t be surprised for Cincy to be a surprise team to nab one of the top quarterbacks in the draft
  7. I don’t think the long signing has any bearing on who they may target. Long was just available and they wanted to make sure they got someone ASAP. He’s versatile and can start in the pinch. I would guess buffalo signed him as depth or a temporary starter. Paradis and Morse should still be big targets if they hit the market.
  8. I wouldn’t mind taking him at 9.. my only concern is actually the pressure and how fast the fans will turn on him. Tight end is generally not a rookie impact position. Picking him top 10 a lot of fans will expect him to be Gronkowski week 1. Tight ends generally take a couple seasons before making any real impact. Other than that he looks like a solid player and checks all the boxes you would want
  9. I think you may be overhyping AB a little bit. But we’ll find out this year if/when he’s traded. His numbers and key plays have been amazing and maybe he is HOF bound one day. My point is just that Pittsburgh throws the ball 50+ times a game and Ben isn’t afraid to toss the ball to him in bad spots and let AB make the play. That’s probably not going to happen on a very large portion of teams. Let’s say he goes to SF.. I would have my doubts jimmy G is targeting him 20+ times a game, or that he’ll put up anywhere near as good of numbers. It’s much easier to be amazing when you have a HOF quarterback and a team that throws constantly. Matter of fact one could argue a huge problem for Pittsburgh during AB’s time there is the fact they throw so much and don’t utilize the run game enough.
  10. I don’t worry about him too much. Health is the big concern obviously. He looked pretty good in the limited action he had. I still have high hopes for lawson, thought he played amazing this year. If he gets some pass rush skills Lawson is the guy we should be hoping to see numbers from. Murphy is the pass rush “specialist” with limited snaps
  11. Will Thomas even be ready for preseason or anything? Last thing we need is a guy who can’t even suit up until mid season. Josh needs somebody to work on routes with ASAP not midway next season
  12. This has been Pittsburgh’s way for a long time now. They drop receivers like crazy and everyone thinks they’re nuts when they do it. They churn out receivers like nobody else in the league. Plaxico, sanders, santonio, bettis, and the list goes on. They have great scouts, some of these players become “bigger than the team” and they’re out. Rather it’s trades or not renewing contracts they have a proven track record of letting guys go and recovering just fine. They will be just fine without bell and brown. Conners looked good, JuJu looks good and they have a young receiver Washington who looks good. It’s not Pittsburgh per se but these players. They don’t deal with this diva stuff. Big Ben is what he is and you can argue he’s a diva like the rest but you have to keep the franchise. Brown is not the franchise.
  13. I can’t see it this year. I could see them dumping 3-4 guys way before they’d even consider Rudolph. There’s already been talk of them trading Xavier Rhodes. He is huge for their system and the run game. I would take him in a heartbeat I think he’s capable of being a top 5 tight end. I don’t think they’ll ship him away though
  14. There is ZERO chance Minnesota let’s Rudolph out the door. They can trade/release plenty of people before they’d ever consider letting him go.
  15. It’s good news for us for trade scenarios. But a terrible move on his part in my opinion. Baseball players make so much money. Long term health and financials baseball was such a better move. You don’t even have to be that good to make so much guaranteed money.
  16. Depending on the draft and free agency we’ll see where he settles on the line, but he’s also the only guaranteed starter. It’s hard to consider a move until they fill out these other positions and we see who we can get.
  17. I would prefer they target desean Jackson. You can probably get him for a 5th. He has a 10-11 million dollar cap hit. Basically a one year rental. Next offseason maybe there’s better free agents or trade possibilities or maybe whatever receivers they draft turn into studs. Jackson isn’t elite but he still has speed and defenses have to respect that with Allen’s arm. He wouldn’t post huge numbers here but they’d probably be better than his Tampa numbers playing second fiddle to Evans and their young receivers. Helps eat some cap this year and also gets you a veteran weapon for the offense. Next year Jackson and McCoy along with others are off the books and you have some more cap flexibility. He does carry injury risks as most do, but he’s a returner as well and will be highly motivated to have a great season for what’s going to be his final contract probably next year. Oh and there’s supposedly a shady connection of them being buddies.
  18. I never said he was fine last year. Just that he’s a fine tackle. They all sucked last year. He’s a young guy and acknowledged he was bad last year and needs to be better. He’s the least of the worries on the line
  19. I was thinking they’ll target 3-4 of the upper free agents and a lot of lower mid level guys. I think Beane will do the trade down but only if he can fleece the other team. Since buffalo is not desperate this draft some other teams can pay the prices to move up. I definitely think he would like to have more picks in the first 3 rounds who can make an impact right away
  20. I was a huge Willis fan and thought we were gonna get him that draft too. That was a giant kick to the groin. But id disagree with the “good” MLBs you listed. Zac brown was quite good but those other guys were not good here. Poz and Preston got a million tackles after the back was already 5 yards down the field and rarely made any real plays and Alonso got man handled by offensive linemen and missed his gaps non stop
  21. Both sound good. Long term sustainability they need stuff like that to keep people interested
  22. I would like to see a fantasy football league for this, would help the popularity
  23. Anyone who is a top 10 free agent at their position the bills want will have at minimum 5 other teams in on them. I think many are looking at this free agency all wrong. Just my opinion but Beane only wants possibly 3 starters to come from free agency. With a lot of hopeful “who is that” guys they think can develop into starters during the season. Along with 4-5 rookies they hope can develop into starters year one or two. Unless he’s just constantly swerving the media and fans he’s not going to load up this offseason on expensive vets. It’s not smart business. He just tanked an entire season to take I think the largest dead cap hit for a team in history (I’m guessing from an article I read not 100% positive if it was a record) but he’s not going to just load the team up on overpriced contracts after dropping all the previous ones.
  24. You only catch heat for suggesting the cuts really with no reason. The 70 + million will be hard enough to spend without opening new holes on the roster. They literally hurt themselves by freeing up another 6 million. There’s 31 other teams many who will bid for the exact same players the bills need. Even if they wanted to spend the entire 70 million this offseason they could not fill all their holes on the team, not with decent players. Somehow though they need to spend x amount to get to the minimum salary cap for the league while planning ways out of some of these contracts in the future
  25. I am looking at it more like watching the smokies minor league baseball team here in Tennessee
