1. Bills fan since 1969 at 10. Marveled at the way OJ ran and decided to follow him to wherever he landed. So haunting I'd drive by the Brentwood crime scene at 7am some 25 years later. News hadn't even broken yet. 2. First memory was probably watching OJ run for 200 to get to 2003 against the Jets. I'll also always remember Joe Ferguson gutting it out against the Chargers. 3. My favorite Bills memory would be Josh jumping over Anthony Barr. That play set the stage for his future stardom. 4. Favorite player all time..... Thurman Favorite player now...... Josh Allen 5. Born, raised & live in LA my whole life. Enjoyed Sundays at the LA Billbacker bar at Bobby McGees in Burbank with John Mammoser and the gang. Busby's in Santa Monica is now the place to be.

150 draft prospects threaten to boycott Combine
LABILLBACKER replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
You really don't find it odd the NFL would completely relax protocols (testing) for the revenue generated by the playoffs, and then announce a combine bubble. Last year those protocols were completely necessary based on the numbers. This year as numbers and mask mandates fall accross the nation, I think its appropriate that some of these protocols need to be relaxed too. Just like they were for the playoffs. -

Just so hypocritical that the NFL shuts down all testing right before the playoffs and now they reboot some very unnecessary protocols. Time to turn this pandemic into endemic phase please. And yes the teams want the medicals and interviews as top priority. The rest (40's, etc) are just gravy. Most of these guys will do pro days anyway. -

If Hill was back there I'd go touchback. But Hardman can be contained or even baited to a return rather than a fair catch. Forcing them to burn that 4 seconds is paramount. But there's always that risk. Sean showed conviction to his philosophy (process) and somehow Farwell and the message was never properly delivered. That's why for 3 1/2 quarters I have no problem with Sean being "process guy" and allowing his assistants to do their job. But when the game comes down to a critical high leverage moment you need a Pete Carroll or Sean McVay type running down the sidelines. It might undermine your assistants to some degree but it could eliminate communication failures. Belichick does this all the time. -

I hope you're right Shaw. I'd be lying if I didn't see a little Marty Shottenheimer here. Great regular season coach (.610) but struggled in the playoffs. All 7 of our loses this season were 1 possession, end of the game, high leverage situations. Hope he figures it out? -

Well as we saw as clear as day somewhere communication got lost in the process. And Pete's got a national championship ring and a SB ring. I guarantee you he won't rely on his assistants to screw it up again, especially that late in the game. -

How many "learn from my mistakes" coupons does Sean get. He's an utterly great coach in so many areas. But in game strategy isn't one of them. -

The pop up was successful throughout the season. Several times we held the return inside the 25. Even if Hardman fair catches it around the 10-12, it would've brought the Hail Mary into play. I'm literally floored that a micro manager like Sean in a high leverage moment doesn't call the entire ST and stare at Bass what he wants done. And I don't buy this 97% chance stuff. At the 25 with plenty of timeouts, the Chiefs had a higher than 3% chance to get into fg range. Especially with our idiotic strategy of covering sidelines and rushing 4. You only cover sidelines if your opponent is out of timeouts. -

You and newcam are both right. Sean had full control of those last 2 defensive calls. He decided to go full prevent and it failed. I guess the one factor that will drive me crazy for years is if he's such a micromanager type, which I think most will agree he is. Why didn't he take charge on that kickoff? Why didn't he gather his entire ST unit ( like BB would do) and tell them and Bass exactly what he wanted? And not risk a Farwell miscommunication. That's where the game was lost. Bass had successfully kicked that pop up to the 10 several times this season. I don't want McD fired. But these in game struggles cannot be ignored. -
What is your "Win Now" off-season scenario?
LABILLBACKER replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall
Love the idea of landing DeVondre Campbell before NE or the Jets grab him. We're never getting a 2nd for Edmunds but I'd definitely settle for a 3rd & 5th in a heartbeat. If you're going to waste 12.7 on Edmunds you sure as hell can pay Knox a decent market value deal. There's no way Josh allows him to leave. Too much chemistry and besides Dawson's rise happened in year 3, just like JA17. Draft Dulcich in the 5th. Solid hands TE2. I think the key this offseason will be what we do at CB & 1T? -
And you know this how?

This idea of keeping Frazier around is getting old. We do need a more aggressive defense and a change in the scheme. And you can't just ignore these coaches leaving.

Is McDermott going to scare players away?
LABILLBACKER replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall
There's alot to love about Sean McDermott. He turned a post-Rex dysfunctional team into one of character, culture and process. He holds players accountable for their mistakes by short term benching which is the same strategy Belichick used. He could very well turn out to be the best coach this organization has ever had. But.....yes here comes the but....my biggest concern for Sean is his capacity to make the right decisions late in high leverage situations. No one can deny his in game situational mistakes. I don't want the guy fired, that's crazy town. But if you hold your players to a high standard, you can't blame the last 13 seconds to "execution" and "communication" issues. Free agents will come to Buffalo more because of Josh than anything else. My so called crusade will always center around Sean's ability or lack thereof to learn from these mistakes. And hopefully not make new ones. -

LABILLBACKER replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't have a problem with McD benching guys for making big mistakes. Belichick did it all the time. What I do have a huge problem with is a HC that doesn't own up to his own colossal mistakes. I'd be terrified knowing I've worked my butt off in a playoff game only to have him screw it up late. -
In order to consistently beat KC and put ourselves in a position to win SB's, we absolutely have to get more speed on offense. We need a comparable player to Tyreek. Finishing dead last in YAC is unacceptable. Yes, watching Beas get Immediately tackled is frustrating. We need a speed wr (Jameson Williams?). Or at least a faster RB who can run wheel routes or screens. There's a TE from UCLA named Dulcich who would make a great TE2 compliment to Knox. Probably available 4-5th round. Obviously the combine will reshuffle everything but I agree with all your points.

Whorl, we've been around a long time. I could care less what 1959 says. Ironically I was born in 59 when the Bills began. I watched in 90 when Bruce & Co just couldn't get off the field to save their lives. Then they proceeded to give up 119 points in the next 3 SB's. The strength of those 90's teams was the offense. And fast forward 30 years later and again our offense is the strength. I never for one second bought into the #1 defense narrative considering the qbs we faced and losing our best defender. We hit a HR with Diggs. We (Beane) have to continue that strategy by giving up top picks for defensive studs. Keep you 3-7 picks and find offensive diamonds. Cooper Kupp was a 3rd rounder. We can no longer settle for "bend dont break" defenses that have come to expect.
-
So tired of our defense failing in the playoffs. Couldn't hold on to a 16-0 lead in Houston. Gave up 80 points to KC. I'm all for spending all of our cap money on PROVEN defensive players. Not mediocre guys like Murphy, Obada and Addison. Draft all offense. Sign all defense.

Rams SuperBowl parade got totally out of hand!
LABILLBACKER replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
It started at 11a. Not even the SC students gave a rat's ass. And watching Stafford ignore that female photographer who fell and fractured her spine was just as pathetic as this sorry turn out. This town will always be Lakers 1st, Dodgers 2nd.
