  1. Barely the off season and we already have a dumb thread about trading for Rivers, Rothlesberger, Rodgers, Brady, Manning coming out of retirement. Didn't take long.
  2. Yeezus, you may have not noticed we haven't hired and offensive coordinator yet, and most likely because we're looking for one of the hot talented guys who are in the playoffs. Leslie Frazier is a good defensive coordinator, just not a head coach like Wade, coach 0-16 Marinelli who has gotten the most out of Dallas. Frazier in two different teams was a top coordinator, and Mc Dermitt has been a stud for over. 8 years on two teams. Juan Castillo is an excellent offensive line coach so I do not understand you're thread. Agree to disaree and this team has nothing to do with years f 17-14 years ago. Forget it. Just like this Dallas team has nothing to do with the one who won the SB three times in the 90's.
  3. The only way the Texans win is if Brady rolls an ankle, and Garrapolo on the next play. Otherwise this will make last week's games look exciting. The other pics are possible. I think we have three toss up games where with side can win. The Texans have absolutely no chance.
  4. They can't afford financially to purge Dareus, but could on Henderson. One poster is a little harsh on him though as Crohns is an awful disease. They can let Gilmore go, but who replaces him. The draft; taking a chance and who's to know if the replacement is as good. If we can meet him he n the middle he's worth keeping so we add in the daft, not replace. Lastly, you don'have to urge, but simply reign them in quick. That's what he'll do. Rex was a wuss. If someone fakes a hamstring as they don't want to practice like Bruce smith in the old days, then McDermitt gets the medical staff on him, forces MRI's etc to see no tissue damage, and gets his ars back in the field. Thiis new coach is the anti-Rex. He'll hold people accountable and create a winning culture. People who believe in their coaches and start to believe they can be winners lose the attitude.
  5. The Raiders bailed on Oakland once before and the city has been promising the Davis family for years ver 20 years a partially funded stadium. At least Buffalo and NYS knew what they had in the Bills and compromised with $130 million dollars for an overhaul. It is sad for the fans, but like it or not the NFL is a bully to metropolitan areas, and if places like don't like playing ball, they move. The sad part for San Diego is corporations and outsiders would have been paying the taxes on the hotels, not the residents of San Diego. Same as Vegas. Makes you appreciate the Wilson family for keeping the team in Bufffalo and the Pegulas for buying both teams.
  6. About the only thing we truly know is it has to be someone coaching in the playoffs. If it were Musgrave he would have been announced already. I can wait if it is a top coordinator candidate and used to coaching winners. I can only say he had a solid first press conference, but we'll have to wait 8 months to see what we have in his staff.
  7. Completely agree, or they keep as is in two years, but have to make the playoffs next year to get to that level, and the playoffs the next year to make 100% of his contract. We can use if there. Is talent our first for a QB, but if the marquee guys are gone we can take one in the fourth, and use the first three according to talent on. Two safeties, and WR. I still think we make an offer to Michael Floyd as he'll be available after this season.
  8. Good take. Hated you're game in the 70's and 80's. I' more of a galaga, asteroids kind of guy. Hated PAC man too. Might be before you're time. Those late 40's guys know what I'm saying.
  9. The only way we get him is a philly or LA type trade. You want to give up that many pics. I say pick up TT option as he won't negotiate, go for WR, S, S in first three rounds, get another QB in the 4th, let Cardale get all 2nd team reps. Pick up Lynn/Bradley, go to 4-3, Lorax as the Sam, Brown and Ragland. Move Glenn to RT as CK has now proven he is a good LT. I also say we blew it not picking up Floyd off waivers. We have 24 free agents to sign, but not all starters. A couple of excellent safety pics with Floyd, and a high WR pick like a Mike Evans, and you may see TT get even better with two of his three WR are tall, fast and blockers. Woods would be a goner. Like him, but need to upgrade. That's my fantasy as 7th in points with a top 5 defense equates to playoffs. Our running game will only improve with Glenn at RT, and RT have become as important as LT in this new NFL. Fine if you guys disagree, but Bradley can dramatically change this defense, and make sure he flies down to LA and go fishing with Kyle and consider one more year and lay out the plan. He just doesn't want a rebuild. We can be a playoff team if all this breaks. Besides when Sammy is out there he is phenomenal, but with injury history having two big WR's will compensate with Clay. A shorter QB at 6'1" having three big targets is your best friend. Look who TT had to throw to most of the year. I watched just about every play of Floyd in AZ, and outside of some drops this year, he was a big reason for the #1 Offense and passing game the last couple of years. Disagree, no problem, but this is my hope. We don't have enough talent to trade our 1st this year, amd give up two 2's, amd next year's first. If he falls to 10 then that changes everything, but Cleveland, Jets, 49ers, even Jax will not get him to 10. No way.
  10. Pitt/ KC GB/Dallas Seattle/ATL All should be good games. Can we just tell Houston to forfeit? Or at least make it the 8:30 pm game so I can go to bed early. Love day games. Happens when you get older and used to working out early in the morning before church on Sunday.
  11. It's not all doom and gloom. Several points. - Haley finally is in chaarrrge of the hire. Rex never should have had. A direct line to the Pegulas. Mary reported to Polish and was a collaborative effort being on the same page. - you want football operations people completing these interviews. Remember our marketing guru which his wheelhouse Bbdosaid to the Pegulas don't let Rex get out the door. - if you let someone go, whhoo's better? If possible renegotiate TT deal so a playoff appearance, brings him back to next year's guaranteed money, and the same the following year. -- move up of you are and maybe parlay some pics for Deshawn Watson ithe 1st. You have the air apparent if TT, blows it next year. - we blew it not taking Michael Floyd off waivers ahead of the Patriots. He'll be free after the season. The cap goes. Up 25 million on top of some carryover. Lynn got us to 7th in scoring. The defense blew it. If we had a top 5 defense we could have go 11-5, 12-4. Gus Bradley was the architect of Seattles punishing defense. Our players are more suited to a 4-3, with a successful draft of two safeties. All is not lost guys, and healthy stud WR's undoubtedly improve TT's game. I watched most of Floyd's games, and he is the size speed and radius of Mike Evans. There's my take. Rip it apart if you want. My thoughts oWhaley's conference is he said what hewas told to say by the Pegulas. That happens alll the time in Mgmt in corporate America. You have a script and have to sell it. I'm sure Haley was integrally involved in getting Rex fired, and he should have been fired. He defense worked 10-15 go. Not now.
  12. The earlier comment about using DBacks for delayed blitzing has run it's course. See Tom Brady 2second release. It just doesn't work. I love Von Miller's response when asked about how fast in a little over 2 seconds Brady gets rid of the ball. His response " then I'll get to him in one" That's a Wade defense letting his players react and move faster. That's why his defenses work so well.
  13. It's an interesting idea. Remember John Butler stacked him with Ted Washington, Marcellus Wiley, Chris Spielman, Bryce Paup, amd so on. We had the #1 defense under his reign. We have good talent on defense, but need to be coached better. I think Anthony Lynn running his offense could be even better than this year, but would need to carry TT's contract, so we have him for two years, and we find in the first round this year or next a QB who is more game ready. The salary cap is going from the low 140's million to a projected $166 million. Big leap to keep whoever we want. Romo is one hit from retirement. Terrible decision to take him. As far as RT, I never until last week warmed up to the idea of moving Glenn to RT, because I know he would kil it there, but didn't trust CK until he repeatedly played as a top level LT against some top level talent. You hear the experts say now you're RT has to be as good as you're LT in the way teams are playing defense. There really is no other QB options out there as much as people try. The only option is if Washington was to completely lose their mind and let Cousins walk out. That is a great option, but will never happen. Wade, Lynn, a DC in Wades mold, and a top level ST coach. I know he has been ok in some places, but our best ST coach in a long time was April. Don't forget we had a top 10 scoring offense this year. This gets repeated and a top defense, and you are looking at a deep playoff team. In fantasy land, I'd love TT to take a reorg contract, but unlikely, and other teams would be frothing at the mouth for him like Denver, and SF. I still think the top candidates if they are willing to interview here are Kyle Shanahan, Matt Patricia, and Josh McDaniel. I have no interest in Mike Smith. Look what he squandered in Atlanta. He's doing a great job as a D.C. in Tampa, and needs another top year for teams to seriously consider him as a top HC. Coughlin in no way is coming to Buffalo. It's Jags or retirement working for the NFL. Sorry for the long post. I don't normally write long posts as most of us have a short attn span. Thanks for putting up with me today.
  14. He started there, his family is there, he and his wife's home is there, and they were poorly coached, but have a LT of raw talent on that team. Besides he's 70 and probably a three year stint while he grooms one of his assistants carrying out similar philosophies. He could always stay on as a part time consultant, thereafter.
  15. You always have to ask yourself, if he's gone as we let him test the market, and it's higher than we want to pay, who replaces him and no silly answers like Romo, Rodgers and so on. The likelihood of Washington letting Kirk Cousins go is nil. Better to keep Tyrod, and draft another QB next year. Not as common, but there are Dak Prescott's out there. We may not have to execute the third year and the three year cap hit is 20th in NFL QB's. Continuity with Rex was foolish with so many blunders, but TT is the most talented QB since at least Flutie, but really Kelly. A top 5 defense with this pat scoring offense converts to an 11-5 record.
  16. I'd love to see if they were interested Kyle Shanahan, Josh McDaniels, Matt Patricia, and Anthony Lynn get a fair chance to fully interview them. If you think about the current three openings we are probably ranked #1 in talent, and Jax second. I'm open to other ideas, but it also solves the 5.5 mil already given out for three years as Coordinators never get as much as big name guys do, but get the big contract on the second contract when they bring us the playoffs.
  17. Don't forg slow start, but Shaq Lawson could grow into a solid piece for us, they still have high hopes for Ragland, and Washington had a decent first season considering he didn't have mr big stuff next to him, b/c he' fat, lazy, and likes the wacky tobacci.
  18. My prayers for his family. It's too bad that all of his excellent years as a top ST Coach, he'll be remembered for the Music City Debacle.
  19. Guys - living in FL, I put the WGR app when I can in the season, typically on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays. Given, we all work, I don't get a daily dose of Murph like you. I don't mind his show especially when he has on Steve Tasker the other day, Chris Brown, and so on. He is a bit of a homer, but that was response to a little boy, who you could tell practiced what he was going to say and probably wrote it out was tactless. He tried to backpedal in the end when he said, "I'm probably frustrated too". You think, barking at an 11 yr old. Save your rants for adults who have no problem differing in their opinions to Murph's.
  20. Exactly. When things are going wrong as a sales director in medical device, you cut your losses and move on. This was going wrong for awhile. With a traditional coach like Dan Quinn, or even Todd Bowles, you give him time. I know it looks bad for Bowles, but I wouldn't give up on him yet. Quinn had a bad fat yearut looked what he did his year. Look at Jack Del Rio. Not a great first year, but had a plan. Rex was a buffoon. We need to a better job of hiring the right coach, and then truly give him time. These blunders after two years were horrible.
  21. To the OP, I've always wanted to keep him as you have to live ok at who replaces him, but not at his money he wants. Negotiate a better deal based on his performance, and a fair contract with decent guaranteed money. If he doesn't, let him walk and test the market. Washington overpaid for Norman, and does not look like he did in Carolina.
  22. Good summary Alf. The Maroon idea is silly, and he'd never come back anyway. He's fighting for that Jax job.
