  1. I an not predicting anything that McBean WILL or WILL NOT do. I do believe that McBean will do whatever it takes to move up and get "Their Guy". Who that turns out to be is anyone's guess at this point. But put yourself in McBean's position for a minute. Wouldn't YOU want to scout these guys YOURSELF and not rely solely on the judgements of your scouts. After all, this is only the most important decision that McBean will ever make. If they pick the right guy McBean most likely gets a long term extension. Pick the wrong guy and Pegula may fire both McDermott and Bean. It's a good way to insure that Coach and GM work well together - isn't it?
  2. 1 Yes. Even abit more if necessary. I want one of those top 3 QBs... (Darnold, Rosen or Mayfield) 2 Then let "any team" (other than the Bills) trade for him... It would be a waste of a valuable draft pick...
  3. You pay the man what he is worth - if not someone else will. Money itself is not the issue here. While the Bills currently have about $30 mill in 2018 cap space, they are said to have close to $100 mill in cap space projected for 2019. And this is all before any other personnel moves are made. (like releasing TT or Glenn for example) I am not taking any side in this - just stating the obvious. Injuries are a part of the game. Get over it. The question for McBean is what value do they place on Gaines services and if they don't like his price tag who will they get to replace him and how much will that player cost?
  4. Actually, what will most likely prod the Colts to trade the 3rd overall pick to the Bills is the offer of both Bills 1st rd picks and either this years 2nd rd or next years 1st rd pick. Or Cordy Glenn if they want an experienced LT (depending on his health and medical evals) Quite honestly I think it would be a fair trade both ways. Buffalo gets its franchise QB (hopefully) and the Colts get potentially 3 top notch prospects to help build their team around Luck who presumably will come back healthy... Some have said that Indy wants to draft Barkley with the 3rd overall pick. Why waste the 3rd overall pick on a RB? Sorry, but IMHO, good RB's can be found in any round. Indy needs to rebuild their OL and give Luck better targets as well. 3 top picks or 2 and Glenn would do alot more to improve that team than drafting a RB that high...
  5. I agree with you that "tanking' makes no sense - especially at this point. I also agree with you that the Bills need to just go out and trade up for "their guy". But it has to be THIS YEAR. Either the 2nd or 3rd overall pick should be acquirable. I believe that at least the top 3 Qb's (Darnold, Rosen and Mayfield) are worthy of going all out for. I don't have any preference myself. The combine results should be interesting to watch. Rudolph has pretty impressive stats as well and needs to be considered. I am trusting in McBean's judgements here. As far as the Sabre's "Tank" was concerned I think the GM badly misplayed his hand. I never understood Murray wasting a 1st rd pick on Lehner when other more impressive FA goalies were available. It never made sense to me. I also think Housley is in over his head... But that's for another day, another discussion...
  6. I think one can safely presume that at least two, maybe more QB's from this draft class are under strong consideration at this point by the Bills. I'm also pretty sure that "feelers" are out to determine what the parameters of any trade might be with each of these teams and Cleveland as well. I don't have a favorite "horse" in this race. It's McBean's task to find his guy - "his QB". If McBean get's it wrong, McBean gets fired. If he get's it right, he get's an extension on his contract and we get the QB we will watch maybe for the next 15-20 years. (High Risk = High Reward) Oh, one more point to consider. I wonder how many 1st round picks go bust in a given draft. (or simply don't live up to their draft status/expectations) Remember it is not just QB's that bust in the 1st round.
  7. I'm pretty sure that the Bills will have contacted several teams between now and the day of the NFL Draft. By then the Bills will know who their potential trade partners are and what the price to move up will be. Most importantly they should/will know who their "man" is. I've said this before and will say it again. Assuming the 1st two picks are "out of reach" and you still like the #3 guy and think he can be your QB for the next decade or more, you have to be prepared to acquire the #3 draft pick overall (Indy). 3 firsts is not too high a price. So basically the Bills should never have to worry about waiting till #21 because this pick and others will be traded long before then....
  8. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cousins sign with the Jets. They have close to $80 mill in cap space. Denver and Arizona have about the same amount of cap space as we do. (Approx $30 mill.) Assuming that he doesn't want to play in Cleveland which could open the bidding at $30 mill per year - 5 yrs All Gtd Total $150 mill... Can't realistically see Buffalo signing Cousins...
  9. New England 20 - Eagles 16
  10. I'm going to ask this question again... What makes any of you believe that Cousins would want to sign with Buffalo vs Denver, Ariz, Wash, NYJ etc... He can have his choice of any of these cities assuming he doesn't want Clev which has the most $$$ to pay him whatever he wants...
  11. Look, I have no idea which QB to draft. None of us is privy to either Cordy Glenn's or Andrew Luck's medical condition either. And EVERY draft pick has a chance of busting. We hired Beane and McD to do a job. We need to trust in their judgement. I like the moves they have made so far. I believe they will make a good decision. If they decide to move up in the draft it is gonna cost a bundle. Whatever the cost just do it. I firmly believe that Cousins either stays in Washington or ends up in Denver, New York or maybe Arizona. I don't think there is any way he ends up in a Bills uniform. It comes down to where HE wants to be. If I am wrong about this fine. My gut feeling is that the Bills end up trading up. I don't know for whom. And I don't think handsize is gonna be a big factor in this decision. Just do it. Whatever it takes.
  12. Hey, Brady is simply the best QB to ever play the game... No shame in recognizing greatness...
  13. Beane and McD deserve credit for the moves they have made. I have to admit being somewhat amazed that they were able to rebuild the secondary so quickly. They were able to take what I felt has been a weakness and turned it into a strength. They were able to get rid of Darby and Gilmore who IMO are both overpaid underachievers. White and Gaines played very well and Hyde with Poyer are about as good a safety pair as you can hope for. Frankly, I would have voted for the pair as co/DMVP. Now if only Beane/McD can find/draft one of these top 4 QBs...
  14. If the 1st two QB's (Darnold and Rosen) are unavailable you go for the 3rd or even the 4th best if you think they are franchise QB's.... Indy can use the extra picks and maybe Glenn...
  15. I've asked before why anyone thinks that Cousins would be more inclined to sign here as opposed to anywhere else. I still haven't heard a good answer to my question. I mean - Don't you think that the Jets, Broncos or Cardinals will be making Cousins big $$$ offers?
  16. That's why, if u like a guy to be the 3rd best QB - don't be afraid to trade up to #3 to get him... Chances are somebody will if u don't...
  17. The situation will play itself out in FA. Cousins could stay in Washington, or sign with Denver or the Jets, maybe even the Cardinals... And where do those two Minn QB's end up? (Bradford and Bridgewater) assuming that they sign and keep Keenum... And then there is the Cinci backup QB McCarron whose status is unclear at the moment... This will help clear the air as to who may be drafting a QB highly besides the Browns and Giants presumably,,,,
  18. As far as Glenn's value is concerned, IF he is healthy (and he will be medically evaluated for sure) and with the universal NEED in the NFL for quality LT's Glenn should have a fairly decent value in terms of draft picks offered for him. His salary is not really excessive - not that he comes cheap mind you. He is young at 28. It all comes down to his medical condition. You can make a case either way for keeping him or trading him. When he has been healthy he has generally played well.
  19. The combine should be real interesting this year at least... I don't have a favorite at this point. I assume that Darnold and Rosen will be 1-2 off the board. Rudolph vs Mayfield... I like Rudolph's size and his stats are outstanding over the last 3 years - getting better each year, seemingly... I think you need to trade up to #3 if it's available - which I would assume it is... I don't see the Jets sitting still and letting us get the 3rd best QB in this draft without a fight... You can probrably add a couple or 3 other teams to that thought as well....

  21. I didn't think that Dennison was the problem at all this season. It was the QB period. There were plenty of plays there to have been made in this playoff game that TT clearly failed on. How is it the OC's "fault" that the QB cannot execute his offense? Does anyone not remember how awful TT had been playing prior to his benching? Do you think that McD benched TT on a mere whim?
  22. Just curious but what is the knock on Mason Rudolph? His stats look pretty damn good...
  23. First, I see Cousins either working out a long term deal with Washington or perhaps signing with the Jets... I don't see him as realistically signing here... I think that Keenum has the most potential upside if we go after a FA... He shouldn't command as much $ as Cousins for example either... And we wouldn't have to cough up any of our draft picks to sign him either, which is another plus... The option to trade up is still there if Beane and McD want to "swing for the fences"
  24. Best potential trade targets would be Indy #3 or Clev #4... Trade those two 1sts and Cordy to Indy if possible... Perhaps sign Keenum in FA...
