Actually, from Day 1 I have assumed the two to be joined at the hip as it were. I think it's a good way to get two guys working "together" knowing that if THEY fail THEY both get the axe... I hope Pegula made that clear to the two of them if that is so... And since McD is generally given "credit" for bring in Beane it seems only fair if so...

Ye of little faith... I think you just might be pleasantly surprised this time around... The only question in my mind is whether the Bills trade up to #2 or maybe even #1... Keep the faith just a while longer... This time just "feels" different... McBean has impressed me alot in the short time he has been here... I don't think he will disappoint us...

I know at first it sounds radical but stranger things have and will continue to happen... Have your popcorn ready early cause it may be a wild 1st hour... This sounds like it could be the highest viewed NFL draft nite (at least locally) in memory...

Make sure you tune in EARLY on draft nite and you'll learn how wrong your theory was about McBean not going "ALL IN"...

Assuming that we have been in serious discussions with the Giants about acquiring pick #2, I'd say it's pretty likely that the two teams have exchanged idea's like this already and have let each other know what is desired...

If the Giants want Shady (because they are passing on Barkley by trading us the #2 pick) I would go along with that as it will save us a draft pick or two and facilitate the trade. I am not ADVOCATING trading Shady if the Bills don't have to but if it is a stumbling block then go ahead and do it. The Bills have to think future first. Even if the Bills made the playoffs this year how far would they go? Future first!

I wanna be clear that I don't necessarily want to trade him but if we think about it he turns 30 in July and if the Giants want to try for one or two more playoff runs Shady would have to be considered as a desirable addition to their team. The Bills at the same time would be doing Shady a favor by giving him one or two last chances at a Super Bowl ring that he wouldn't get if the Bills kept him. So I am good with it either way. If it helps the Bills make this trade and get their franchise QB I think it is a win for all concerned.

Maybe someone should start a thread where we could predict the Bills picks from say Rd 3 down... I think we have exhausted the 1st rd discussions by now...

Interestingly, Shannon and Skip are talking about New England making the same kind of pick expensive deal that we have all been discussing here for the Bills... I haven't heard them b**ching about the COST of moving up...

Comparisons between what a player achieves in college vs what they will achieve in the Pros are pretty much invalid because a player can get by in college on his natural abilities whereas in the pros he will be going up against the best of the best on every down. And that goes for every player at every position not just the QB's... Alot of players need a year just to adjust to the speed of the pro game...

Don't forget to add in the potential value of Pick #22...

As if any one of us wants another Gabbert or a Locker. I trust in McBean's judgements partly based on the moves he has already made. That is all we can do right now. It's his job thats on the line here ultimately. I think everybody on this board understands that there are two different points of view on this draft and that none of us are gonna change our respective positions.

I tend to agree with you. However I also don't think that the cost will be as high as the OP suggests either. I think it likely that the final price lies somewhere in between. And we won't know that until the trade would actually be announced. (assuming that it happens) I also don't totally discount the possibility that a current Bills player could be involved in the final deal. Again we'll have to wait and see...

Yeah, the last 20 years have been SO WONDERFUL... Like we could never stand more awful football for a couple more years (assuming your prognostications were, you know, actually true)...

Best guess here is that the Bills didn't want to give up 3 1sts to the Colts for the 3rd best QB... If the Bills should have to give up 3 1sts they might as well trade up to #2 and get the guy they really want... Or maybe they have a handshake agreement in place with the Browns to get pick #4 if need be... All depends WHO the Bills really covet and WHO they might accept... So stay calm... "Trust in the Process"...

If you want one of the top 4 QBs you are gonna have to move into the top 4 picks. It's as simple as that. None of these guys is making it to 5 or 6. TreDavious White was as good as any player we would have chosen at pick #10 last year (other than the QB's Mahomes or Watson) so the extra #22 pick we obtained is in some ways a free pick that we obtained because we didn't want Whaley to make the QB pick last year. That is history plain and simple. So now we are paying a heavy price to move into the top 4 but it will be well worth it still if we select the right QB at either #2 or #4... Just Do It and stop the constant whining about cost.

I'll see your 2 - #1's and your 2 #2's and I'll raise you... Shady and Hughes.... OR... Would you prefer 2019 #1 instead of Shady and Hughes?
