  1. It's a very good list, but I think Steve Christie should be on it! I would rank him higher than Owens, Clay, Centers, Morse, and Sanders for sure.
  2. It helps to have a bunch of guys that are all really good. I don't know that every team could get away with this strategy - some reserve NFL linemen are liability-level players. Would the Bills be able to run this successfully with the likes of John McCargo and Aaron Maybin on the roster? I do think it speaks to the value of building a DL of versatile players rather than specialists.
  3. Easily the Titans. Derrick Henry is the kind of player that can win games by himself, and the rest of their team is pretty good anyway.
  4. Heinecke has been solid, but if the Bills D gets off like it did vs. Miami, he's going to have a really hard day. Could be a repeat of the Miami game if defensive dominance results in turnovers - Bills will have favorable field position and score a lot of points without having to generate lots of yards. Bills: 38 WTF: 6
  5. I think it's important to remember that when your defense is dominating, your offense doesn't have to take risks to win the game. If the game plan was conservative on Sunday, it's probably because they didn't need to do more to win handily.
  6. Nope, sorry. Not by any measure, except that I would rather have a beer with Jim Kelly.
  7. I don't have any specifics, and I have never been to Green Bay, but I have been all around Wisconsin and can tell you they have the best bars there! Friendly people, old-school atmosphere, fried cheese curds, cheap beer. You will find yourself a great spot with minimal effort.
  8. It has Seattle starting the season 0-9. Not sure I trust the algorithms on this one!
  9. The Bills are stacked at WR with a bunch of gifted, smart athletes (mostly vets) who can always get open all over the place. They can all go deep - even Beasley. This shouldn't even be a conversation.
  10. I never understood why so many teams run on first down. At first down, you know you still have three more chances if it doesn't go right, so why not shoot for the moon? I'm not a big tennis fan, but I do know that 'first serve' is when they just rip it with everything they have, because they know if they fault, they get another shot. Second serve is the conservative serve - just make sure it's in bounds. Why isn't this same strategy applied to football?
  11. Yes, the old Vosean Joseph maneuver! I think that was his name, anyway. That actually sounds like a likely scenario if they don't think Boogie's ready. Charles, I think you might have called it!
  12. If there is an opportunity to fill a need by obtaining a player of similar caliber to Hughes, and the rest of the DE group looks solid, then yes, trading Hughes for a player would seem like a logical, if painful, move. If you think about it, if this was another rebuild year, Hughes would probably get shipped to a contender for a decent draft package. He could be a major missing piece for a good team looking to make a run, so he's a valuable asset. I don't think either side is looking to part ways, but business is business. Any trade partner would likely be a contender with a surplus of good players, so that would at least give Hughes a softer landing. I just don't know if they would want to give up his vet leadership. He's a major presence in that regard.
  13. Butler and/or Addison seem likely. Vets have value on the market, whereas young guys only have value to (and a future with) the team they practice with. There are enough other vets on the DL to maintain good leadership in the Bills locker room.
  14. I think it has less to do with how much money the player wants/needs, and a lot more to do with what the NFLPA says a player's value is. There is a lot of pressure on players to sign for their max value so other players at their position have the ability to do the same if they want to. I honestly think JA would have been happy making half of what he got, probably even less. But he's not supposed to drag down the price for an elite QB's services.
  15. Wilfork maybe? Then Andre Johnson. The rest, no way. Most won’t make it at all.
  16. It was either this contract or start over again in two years. $43 bucks a year is the price of an elite QB, like it or not. While Josh Allen may very well be the kind of guy who would rather make $10M per and have more money in the till for signing better teammates, the NFLPA and a lot of talent agents would explode if that kind of thing happened. Guys pretty much have to sign for their market value, or very close.
  17. If Kumerow is really as good as everyone wants him to be, would having him and McKenzie (and everyone else) allow the Bills to trade Beasley and his Twitter account for a stud player? Beasley's a great player, no doubt; but is he really on the Untouchables list?
  18. It's interesting to think about how the FO would manage the situation if (IF) Kumerow is really that good. If (IF) you want to make room for him, then you have to either trade someone of value (McKenzie, Davis, Beasley blockbuster???) or risk losing a recent draft investment (Hodgins, Stevenson) via a Practice Squad grab. You could trade one of the young guys, but they usually aren't worth much in trade. Kumerow himself may not have much trade value, either - sure, he's been great in camp and supposedly A Rodgers loves him, but his actual resume is what it is. If (IF) he is that good, he is probably more valuable to the Bills as a player than as an asset. Armchair GMs: What would YOU do if (IF) Kumerow finishes camp comfortably in the top 6 of the WR competition?
  19. Good for him. I love it when good guys with a little less God-given talent can manage to stick around. Even the lowest-paid player on an NFL roster is making serious bank compared to the rest of us schmucks. Matt showed he can handle himself on an NFL field, and was a great teammate.
  20. If Kumerow plays special teams well (I have no idea if he does, TBH), he would probably push Hodgins and/or Stevenson to the PS. You almost have to have one WR on the team that can do double-duty as a gunner and/or wingman to the return specialist. But he would also be a fantastic trade asset on the eve of the season. The Green Bay angle is certainly intriguing if it's real, but there would probably be other takers as well.
  21. He's no MVP candidate, but he's good, reliable, and cheap. He had one terrible drop last year, but was otherwise solid when called on. That, and the Bills are a pass-first team anyway. Why trade him?
  22. Definitely better than his '94 season.
  23. Does Star count as a dark horse? He's coming off a year of rest with a whole fan base talking smack about how he's washed up. He gets my vote.
  24. Good news is we also have Josh Allen.
