Athletic article forecasting our cap casualties
skibum replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beasley has been great at times, but there are probably some very good FA receivers out there who would play with Josh Allen for free. And likewise, there will be many desperate teams looking for a Beasley-type safety valve for their barely adequate QB. On the other hand, if Sanders is also gone, Davis can't replace both vets. I don't envy NFL GMs (except for their salaries, of course). It's a complex matrix, and you can only control so much of it anyway. -
Thurman Thomas was far faster than I thought he was...

Thurman was uncatchable in Madden '92. -
Webb is not our QB coach. Speculation was wrong
skibum replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe he's not ready to give up on the chance of signing somewhere for a roster player's salary. Even league minimum would be nice. Looking unlikely, but maybe worth a shot. I just can't believe the Bills would walk away from him, knowing how important he has been to Josh Allen's prep. But that's just what I read somewhere, I don't actually know anything. -
And I thought it said Tom Brady! And I'm like, my God, what is wrong with people??? Anyway, it seems like a great hire.

Cincy has the hot hand right now. I think they win by two touchdowns, 31-17.
-
I am happy for the long-suffering fans of Cincy if they finally win one, but at the same time, the thought of Burrow and the Bungles winning a SB before Allen and the Bills makes me depressed. It just seems wrong.
-
Yeah, it really sucks having a top 3 Defense in the league. Time to get rid of that bum.

Do you want KC to cruise to the Super Bowl title?
skibum replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall
As I think we can all relate to the Bengals fan experience through the years, it would be nice to see them finally win something; except that it would further isolate the Bills on the list of teams that haven't won the big game. But I would not say I am invested in any particular outcome at this point. -
There's no way he would have overshot it that much if he was trying to kick it short of the goal line. Bass is an ace at those kicks. And it really doesn't matter if he did one or the other kick. Squib kick is risky with the returners KC has, also because it's a finesse kick that could go wrong. Kick out of the EZ is a guaranteed outcome. Neither is the perfect play. Bottom line - to my eyes, the 13 Seconds debacle is on Frazier for calling Prevent defense. I thought that was malpractice.

Everyone is acting like this will be a layup for the Chiefs, but you never know. Cincy is red hot right now, anything can happen.

Recruiting. Bills are going to lose some good players and staff this off-season, no doubt. Josh is the team's biggest draw for free agents, coordinators, etc. I hope he is able to participate in that process.

10/11 playoff coin-toss winners have gone on to win the game since the new rules came into effect. So I can't see why an onside kick wouldn't be worth a try. Defense is always going to be more gassed than Offense at the end of regulation. I think that's why you rarely see even a top-tier defense get the big stop in OT.
-
It just seemed like the Chiefs were willing to give Davis the opportunities, not so much Diggs and Knox. It doesn't matter to me as long as Allen's throws connect to someone in a Bills uniform.

Upon further review...was Bass supposed to pop the kick up?
skibum replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think so. Bass is pretty good at dropping balls inside the 5 - I remember the Bills doing it a lot this season. He wasn't holding anything back on that kick, he gave 'er the boot. On further review, I can understand why they decided to do it. It's a certain outcome that (should have been) very manageable for the defense. The finesse kicks can go horribly wrong once in a while. -
Chiefs offense was on fire all night, and the Bills had no answer on defense. Bills' special teams coverage is excellent, and they have been doing the kick to the goalline thing with good results all season. I have no idea in the world why they instead chose to leave it up to the D to seal the win last night. They completed the debacle by calling the worst possible defensive plan for the final two plays. Absolutely putrid coaching decisions. I feel so bad for the players. It's a shame, because the Bills' coaching staff is generally excellent and has built a winning culture and a fantastic team. But they stink at the critical strategy calls.
-
The kick plus the next two plays was the most disgusted I have ever been while watching a football game. They just laid down and gave the Chiefs a FG.
-
With no Tre White on the field, I don't think you can risk Micah's Hyde.
-
Levi Wallace was burnt to a crisp on that play! He should give Hyde his game check.

Is Super Bowl victory or bust realistic?
skibum replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Best defense in the league and a flaming hot offense. Realistic? Sure! Guaranteed? Never. There are a lot of great teams in the mix. KC, TB, GB, TN, LA, even Cincy are all capable of beating anyone at any time. So are the Bills - you just have to play the games. -
#ThePerfectGame not getting it's proper recognition in the press
skibum replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think as Bills fans, we may tend to overhype the greatness of Saturday's performance. I hardly think it was the greatest offensive performance in NFL history. Heck, Mahomes had an arguably better game the very next night. And between the 98 Vikings, 99 Rams, other legendary offenses I forgot about, and 20 years of Patriots domination, you can't tell me the Bill's win vs. the Pats was truly the greatest game ever simply because there were no punts, FGs, or TOs. -
Does anyone think the Lamar Jackson situation this year was strange?
skibum replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Anyone here ever have a bone bruise? They can be debilitating. This is a really ignorant thread. -
I will always hold Fitz as one of my all time favorite players, but between the hip surgery, 17 YEARS in the league, and a not-great arm to begin with, I think his playing days are likely done. He has earned over $80 million in his career. I'm guessing he is ready to call it a day, and something tells me he will not be looking for a coaching or broadcasting gig. He's a guy that knows there's more to life than football. Awesome to see him shirtless in the stands, and it takes a lot of class for him to deal with all the fans and their photo ops. Amazing guy, I would love to see him retire a Bill, but I'm not sure there's anything left in the tank.

I think the lack of Tre White will be much more visible against the Chiefs than against any other team the Bills have faced since he went down. Wallace is going to get abused. Hyde and Poyer are playing their best ball ever, which helps, but sooner or later... Bills pass rush has become much stronger in recent weeks, but KC's O-line is in much better shape than they were in the playoffs last year. No way the Bills are getting the kind of pressure that TB served up in the SB. Both teams will need to extend drives as long as possible. Time of Possession will be critical in this game. I also think it will take some luck - turnovers, penalties, etc. Definitely nervous about this one!

Divisional Round: Buffalo at KC Sunday at 6:30
skibum replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Going to be tough to defend the KC offense without Tre White, but it should be a fun game either way.
