I think he's still recovering from injury right? Curious if they let him work back on the PS and at that point who knows what we need to do at WR.

Careful. I can totally picture Rapp jumping in his car after practice and then running over Bishop to get to a jaywalker in a Dolphins jersey. -

Totally agree. SOMETHING has to be done. You can't have another season of hiding Damar. The CB2 situation is not good either. With all the concern about the Dline, and rightfully so, the secondary worries me more. The organization obviously knows this. Beane has to earn his $ here and make it happen. -

Justin Simmons is 31 years old. He's going into year 10 of his NFL career (8 years in Denver, 1 year in ATL). He played for Atlanta last year. He had 62 tackles, 2 INTs, and 7 Passes defended. From 2019-2023, he either made the pro bowl and/or 2nd team All-Pro (AP) each season. At the start of free agency, he was looking for a two-year deal worth about $10-14 million per year. I'm sure that number has gone down, considering it's August and the season is almost upon us. He played on a one-year deal with Atlanta last year for $8 million. SportTrac currently has his market value at $5,784,805. Would be great to have him, but money and age are a concern. Sounds like his coverage ability has fallen off a bit in the last couple of years (according to some). Yet, he'd probably still be an improvement (even if he's slowing down). If Beane can find the money, I wouldn't be opposed to a 1-year deal. https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/free-agency-3-safeties-bills-should-pursue-following-sunday-defensive-meltdown This article suggests two other candidates, besides Simmons: 1. Jordan Poyer and 2. Marcus Maye. I don't think we'd bring Poyer back, there is a reason we moved on when we did. He did still have 98 tackles and three passes defended for the Dolphins last year---but it seems that most Dolphins fans were not thrilled with his play last year (despite the big tackle number). Poyer is 34 years old. Maye is 32 years old and the last time he started a full season was 2020. He played for two teams last year (Miami and then LAC) with 4 starts, 42 tackles, and 2 PD. Not really sure if he is even an upgrade from Hamlin at this point. In 2020, his last full season as a starter, he had 88 tackles, 11 PD, 2 INTs, 2 sacks, 2 FF, 1 FR (but that was 5 years ago). Last year, Damar had 89 tackles, 5 PD, 2 INTs, 1 FR (for reference). Other FA options: Marcus Williams. 28 years old. 5 years in NO, 3 in Baltimore. Good player, but has missed 21 of his last 51 games. Vonn Bell. 30 years old. Played for NO, CIN, and CAR. Again good player. Missed 4 games in 2023, started 11 of 17 games last year. Tashaun Gipson. 35 years old. Played in 9 games for San Fran last year, only starting 1 game. John Johnson III. 29 years old. Played for Rams and Browns. Some good years stat-wise, but last year only played two games (fractured scapula) and only started 8 games in 2023. There is a reason most of these guys are still available: age/injuries/slowing down. There is always a chance of picking up someone after team cuts, but from the few articles I could find on the subject, it does not appear that any higher-end safeties (or better than what we already have) are expecting the chop. But there could be a surprise. But yeah, it doesn't look like there is much help out there, even if we had the money. Simmons is probably the best of the bunch, if we were to bring someone in. But again, he too seems to be slowing down a bit, so even he is a bit of a gamble at this point (at somewhere between the $6-8 million price tag he'd carry). Hoping the light comes on for Cole sooner rather than later. 🤞 -
I'm bummed Hancock is missing some time, even a short duration

James Lofton YPG and TD/game was better than Reed's too. 8 TDs in only 9 Bills playoff games. Belichick specifically designed a defense to take away Reed. Probably lots of playoff defenses target the #1 WR. Doesn't mean Lofton was better than Reed or Davis was a better WR than Diggs. If anything it means Kelly and Allen were mostly ( Allen >>>> Kelly) willing to take what the defense was giving. 100% agree with this. If Moulds had Kelly or Allen for most of his career he would have been compared with TO. Both with great size and speed. In terms of WR skill, it is Moulds, Diggs, Reed, Lofton, Butler in that order for me. Obviously that is not production but if you asked who are the most skilled WRs to play on Bills. Im leaving TO off as he was only here a short time at end of career.

I think Bills fans throw around the term JAG way too loosely. Are Singletary and Knox home run picks in round 3? No. But they are/were capable starters certainly a nice "single" if we are sticking with the baseball analogy. Has Beane made mistakes like any GM? Yes. But the Bills are a top 5-6 drafting team in the league since 2017 and I don't care how good Josh Allen is if he didn't have a team capably built around him the team wouldn't be an 11 win team consistently. Look at the Bengals, they have a QB that's pretty close and they won 9 games last year as an example. A great QB papers over a lot but they can't paper over it all...

Overall, Moulds was probably the most physically gifted WR that I've ever seen on the Bills. Someone used the word "complete" earlier and that definitely comes to mind with guys like him. If I hear scouts or analysts say "a guy that big shouldn't be that fast", then those are my kinds of players regardless of position. Not every guy with a rare combination of size and speed will put it together and dominate on the field... but the ones that do always become a kind of next-level dominant.

Beane should go on WGR to complain about them complaining about the safety room next. Then bring back Micah and Poyer immediately after.

stevewin replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
There's a hell of a lot of technology being applied to the field - I would be very surprised if everything hasn't been thought of and it hasn't been engineered to handle even worst case scenarios -
I don’t think he’ll be “robbing” any snaps from either of them. If everyone stays healthy, I think he’ll get some snaps as a blocker and on some deep routes out of the same formations to keep the D honest. jmo. He’s a decent WR and the WRs at the bottom of our roster are barely that at the moment. I’ll be forever sad that we didn’t resign Mack. I think what he did last year as a blocker and WR was one of the most under appreciated roles I can remember.

Overreactions to Preseason games
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Ya Digg?'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah like... it's definitely one of the reasons the lions lost to the commanders last year. Turnovers were really bad in that one - but 481 yards and 27 first downs is also pretty hard to overcome. With no consistent pass rush, you're left with Daniels buying time to carve up the banged up secondary. -
Should Buffalo cut all their backup QBs?
The Jokeman replied to BigAl2526's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he gets cut I'd take a shot on Easton Stick of the Falcons. As remember he played well against us and at 29 might be good short term backup QB. -

Bills hosting Gabe Davis for visit

Gabe Davis career catch rate 53.7%. In 2024 his catch rate was 47.6%. (see below). Jags are paying him $20.3 million not to play for them. https://share.google/wkqHpFgfDxXlOckoR https://www.rotowire.com/football/player/gabe-davis-14359 https://sports.yahoo.com/article/jacksonville-jaguars-cut-wide-receiver-144443255.html -
Toyota were also notorious for engine oil sludging and stuck accelerators with floor mats in the 20-naughts... I probably won't get another Toyota. Ain't bad... This is my second Taco... But meh... WtF can't Toyota do things like include the tailgate lock in fob... Gotta go aftermarket to tie one in... Same with adding trailer brakes, had to add aftermarket. Also... The slightest little loss of ground at battery, won't kill the vehicle, but electronics go schizo... For the life of me couldn't figure out why radio was rebooting, other electronics acting squirrelly... Had a bad ground adapter (after market) running offnegative terminal so I can have extra power distribution box under hood. Seems Toyotas are built too sensitive. Terminal block tests fine, but just doesn't play nice... Had to get a replacement... Probably last 5 years too. Probably go back to Jeep. Still running my 2006 Jeep TJ... They hold value better than Toyota.
