Game week thread - Bills at Falcons MNF
Shortchaz replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Guess the weekly random player going on ir from practice injury isn’t until tomorrow. -
Rasul in 2023 was a big shot in the arm for the defense. I would also argue Cooper was a nice add as despite the low numbers teams respected him on the outside. KB yeah he was rough. But Douglas and Cooper helped. Hines also had those kick return TD’s even if he was underutilized

Yeah, although having him as limited is a lot better than DNP. -
Has a trade ever happened between divisional rivals of players of this caliber. I would take all three players from the Jets but the chances they would help us out are almost zero percent.

If he does leave UNC I can see a return to the NFL. I see "HC of the NYG" in his future. Daboll is not surviving this year. Bill has history with the Giants.

Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
The Jokeman replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm just saying people be calling for Beane's head if we got Fulton like production. -
Man I have been a Jeffrey Simmons fan...on the field... since before the Bills decided to take another DT 10 spots before he was Drafted... But I totally understand why the Bills wanted no part of that risk...To his credit he's stayed out of trouble in the NFL. He has missed a total of 14 games due to injury. But when that dude is healthy is is an absolute beast...

Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)

Say what? The overhang covers the entire upper level. We’ve been over this! -
How did a really good defense let Carolina (Carolina, just to be clear) score 30 points on them? Right, but we have a Hulk.

From the Babylon Bee: 1. Israel must eliminate 100% of its Jews: This is a dealbreaker for Hamas. 2. New pagers: The last batch had some problems. 3. A new fleet of paragliders: They have assured everyone it's only for recreational purposes. 4. Goats. Lots of goats: They won't say why. 5. Super Bowl tickets: They're apparently huge Bad Bunny fans. 6. 100 virgins each: They will settle for 72, but are setting the bar high for negotiation. 7. Israel must continue to keep Greta Thunberg away from Gaza: The Gazans are terrified she'll eventually reach their shore. 8. Signed 8x10s of Tucker Carlson: Entirely not related to the goats. 9. A nuke: For, like, their power grid or something. 10. The entire land of Israel: All of it. Without all the Israelis. Is that too much to ask?

I live in NJ and the pizza in both NJ and the NYC area is very good IMHO. I can't comment on Buffalo, Chicago, or Detroit so NYC is my only choice for this poll.

Pardon?

Yes there is always a reason for someone selling assets. But it could be that the team is performing horribly and is looking to hit the reset button from 2026 starting with the draft. That is a good enough reason for us to call one of these teams and offer picks for a speedy WR with good hands. If we didn't get a volume player, it's fine. We need someone to be that guy who will keep defenses honest. A John Brown types. I am not looking to sell my 8 year old car but if someone comes to my door with cash at $5000 over book value, I will sell. In summary, I disagree with your notion and feel that Beane should go around flashing his credit card and see who is or becomes available.

Fair point. I'm not saying McDermott is a bad coach, just that the excellent win percentage people point to as evidence of his prowess is dubious given the quarterback he's been bestowed. It's like saying "Look at all the championships Scottie Pippen won! He's obviously one of the best players of all time."
-
Yup, need a good CB regardless of Hairston’s situation because it’s only a matter of time until Benford is out.

oh, wonderful

I've actually done a little bit of that and I agree with you. Some of what I originally wrote in my review of the game I see differently looking at it slowed down and not rushing to post a review. Even going back to our discussion about Cover 2 vs Cover 1 on that one Kincaid route, I see your point, which I believe was around what the look is by definition and what the actual coverage is based on the intent of the play. The second safety was always going to play man on Kincaid, so it really can only be Cover 1. I also fully agree on your point about the thin margins. I still wish he would have stayed in the pocket longer on a few plays but that reaction is likely built in from him having to manifest something. That said, I hope I never watch another second of All 22 from the Patriots game. On to the Falcons and hopefully some help at the WR posittion at some point.

To be fair, that could simply be because guys like Beasley and Diggs are good and guys like Benjamin and Holmes are bad lol. Perhaps a good contested catch type of guy would do well with Josh. At any rate, Keon has been okay so far for us. Feels like hes trending towards not being what we hoped for but of the 5 WRs that were taken right around him, I think 2 have been definitively better, 2 have been definitively worse, and 1 has been about on par regardless of having differing skillsets and whatnot. I think his potential as an outside contested catch guy and a run blocker does make him a fairly valuable prospect, but it seems like the "it" thing that's trending right now is WRs that can play anywhere and particularly find soft spots over the middle. That's the McConkey types and Coleman is not that. But he can still be good; we'll see. Needing to be disciplined multiple times in 2 years doesn't feel like a good sign though.

I think, if Beane doesn't bring in a quality CB , within the next 2 weeks, he is guilty of dereliction of duty. Hopefully, the Pat's game has shown Beane that our secondary is lacking the talent necessary to a serious defense. With Hairston and Strong out, Tre White a shadow of his former self, Beane has to trade for a top CB. The price will undoubtely be high, but not fortifing the CB spot will, in my opion. tank the season.

The expectation has become if your Quarterback is good you should win multiple Super Bowls. If you have a good quarterback and you dont win a Super Bowl you suck as a head coach. People on this board would likely tell you Don Shula was a terrible head coach because he never won a championship with Marino. Sometimes even if you have a great quarterback, even if you're a good head coach, you simply are playing at a time where someone is better. The Super Bowl is incredibly hard to win.
