Will anyone admit to becoming a Bills fan during the Josh Allen era?
damj replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills fan since Fergy. I will admit to being a wrong Josh guy I feel shame -
Yeah, but Allen’s window will be over by then /s/

Awesomeness! A band/ lead singer that she might want to check out. (Probably already has)

I've been rewatching all the 2024 games. Elam was awful every chance he got. I defended him a lot on this board but he played his way off the roster.

It would be nice if we could get a few physically imposing players from time to time. Other teams WRs are bigger than our TEs. Other than Allen, Edmunds(when he was here), and maybe Spencer Brown, I can't think of many guys that are just bigger and stronger than their opponent. Bills do generally have decent size at the CB position. Can only dream what Allen could do with a guy like Mecalf.

Lately I've been using that Montreal steak seasoning and then grill it. Turns out great ! But I agree, no steak sauce

no bye weeks in that era?

I was in tears as a senior in high school after the Wide Right game and my late father consoled me by saying "players get paid while fans work for free." Since then a loss won't ruin my night or drag me down the next day. It's just a bunch of 20 to 30's something kids playing a game where only 1 of 32 fan bases are happy at the end of the season. It's a fun sport to watch, follow, discuss strategies, discuss players, and debate. I just am not that emotionally attached to it because the alternative sucks.

9 years ago the idea that there would become bandwagon Bills fans was a bit far-fetched. For years on TSW two things I often talked about that needed to happen: 1) The fanbase had to become their own separate entity from the team in the way that even longer-suffering Chicago Cubs fans had under similarly difficult circumstances. Prior generations of Bills fans would vote for or against Ralph with their wallets and that was a recipe for losing your team and all the fun and entertainment we enjoyed around the 48 hours of sh!t football we were subjected to annually. 2) That they should pick a QB with their first pick EVERY year until they got one that could get a stadium built. Both goals were achieved, even if not in the way you'd draw it up. I am grateful that Josh Allen and the energy of Bills Mafia can bring us new fans. I can remember going to local bars with friends to watch Bills pre-season games during the Rex era and even if the place was packed nobody else even knew the Bills were playing. The Bills territory was contracting and you didn't have to venture far outside of Buffalo to reach where the team was becoming irrelevant. The brand was that tarnished by the likes of Ralph, Jauron, Levy and Brandon. In general, the fans that this Josh Allen era creates will be the people sustaining the franchise 10-15 years from now the same way that the kids of the Kelly/Bruce/Thomas/Reed era Bills sustained the organization thru the 2000-2017 drought years.

And no Quaterback can improve their completion percentage from college to the NFL, right? This is just silly. There is no way that Beane thinks he blew this pick already. You don't write any player off after their rookie year as a coach or GM (or you won't have your job for long). Plus, what do the defensive players have to do with anything in relation to the speed of a WR? Also, it's called team building. #1 WR priority according to the Bills at the time was get a bigger guy who can block and get 50/50 balls. They drafted Keon. Now we have that, let's go after our second priority. A guy or some guys with speed. It's not some admission of quilt. Again, it's team building. You don't keep bringing in the same type of player over and over, you have to fill certain roles, have diversity. And it's not like 4.52 and 4.46 are blazing speeds (as far as Beane bringing in only speed players). And our team would get bullied late in the year and in the playoffs by bigger, stronger teams. There has to be a balance. In the 2024 draft, 11 wide receivers were selected in the first two rounds (the first 52 picks). Seven of those WRs were picked before Keon. Here is what the stats of all of those receivers were after week 8 of last year (just before Keon's injury): Pick Player Targets Recs Yards TDs Team (# of team passing plays) 4 M. Harrison 50 26 411 5 Arizona (543) 6 M. Nabers 94 46 498 3 NYG (591) 9 R. Odunze 44 25 391 1 Chicago (566) 23 B. Thomas 49 33 573 5 Jacksonville (546) 28 X. Worthy 39 19 235 3 Kansas City (600) 31 R. Pearsall 9 7 59 0 San Fran (533) 32 X. Legette 35 22 211 3 Carolina (547) 33 K. Coleman 36 22 417 3 Buffalo (520) 34 L. McConkey 52 35 440 4 LA Chargers (510) 37 J. Polk 27 10 78 1 New England (529) 52 A. Mitchell 31 11 118 0 Indianapolis (513) At the time of his injury, Keon's stats were not looking bad in comparison to the other rookies. especially considering: -Nine of those eleven teams threw the ball more than the Bills did overall in 2024 (Bills had a 49/51 run/pass split and 42% of our passing plays went to RBs and TEs). Plus, some of those teams do not have the number of other targets/weapons as say Buf, KC, SF. Not as many balls to go around on such teams. -The disparity in number of targets. For instance, Malik Nambers had 58 more targets than Keon in that span. Tough to compare say yards between the guys who had a lot more opportunities (targets) than the others. And yet, at that time, with the 7th fewest targets (of the 11 players), he was 4th in total yards and tied for 3rd in TDs. There was no way we were going to be able to go up and get Harrison, Nabers, or Odunze. We probably could have swung for Thomas. And obviously, we could have picked Worthy, Pearsall, Legette, McConkey, Polk, or Mitchell---but they chose Keon. And before the injury, McConkey was the only WR that we could have chosen (where we were) that had better stats than Keon. But as others have said, McConkey is more a slot and not the type of WR we wanted/needed (same for Worthy---we weren't looking for a speed guy at that time). So, I'm having a hard time seeing any other move the Bills should have made as far as WR is concerned (other than possibly moving up for Thomas---but we would have had to have a trade partner too, who knows if that was available or not). Yes, Keon struggled coming back from the injury. I think that was two-fold. First off, he was out for almost 5 games starting in week 7 (probably tough for any rookie to acclimate back after that amount of time out). But, that is also the week that Amari arrived. Curtis Samuel got healthy around week 9. And Mack's target share went up a bit also. The offense continued to roll with Keon out and Amari, Curtis, and Mack getting more targets. So, when Keon came back, there was no need to force him in. Just keep rolling with what is working. And I think a rookie coming back from his first major injury to a much smaller role may have gotten in Keon's head a bit. He may have been a bit skittish from the hit. Worried about coming back too soon. A little depressed that his role had decreased, etc. But, again, he was a rookie. Give the kid time to grow, mature, learn, get more experience. It's seems strange to me to write off a high draft-pick rookie who got injured and missed 5 games his rookie season. Have some patience guys. I personally think that he's going to come back with a fire in his belly this year. Just seems like that kind of a kid to me.

La novas gets a bad rap 100% If you go to West ferry they make good pizza and wings there Their chicken wings actually slam.. West ferry la Nova is legit Buffalo pizza and wings 100% that has gotten a bad wrap because the stadium I don't know how many pizzarias in the actual City make better wings than LA novas consistently
-
I totally agree. All any of those places have to do is become the official pizza/wing sponsors of the Buffalo Bills. Honestly, with multiple locations, I wouldn't be shocked if Bar Bill throws their hat in the ring at some point. But they probably don't have the "family money" that the Todaro's do.

It's a risk I'd take if Jackson looks good in training camp. Him and AJE are similar players and their skill set would be redundant as the DE2 opposite Groot or Bosa. You keep him if you can't trade him but that $6.2m cap savings is too good to pass up. I'm not worried about losing a DE that actually regressed last year finishing with a pass rush grade of 56 (139 of 211 qualifying DE's) and a run defensive grade of 58.7 (117 of 211). You can always kick get creative and kick out an athletic DT (Sanders) on likely running plays too since that position will likely be crowded too. Maybe they bring back Smoot at the rookie minimum if none of your likely practice squad DE camp bodies aren't ready to be a healthy scratch the first six weeks if you're worried about injury.

The above applies to every decision made in my household. Growing up I had a Black Lab-German Shepherd mix named Pepper - basically a Black Lab with Shepherd ears. Either me, my sister or both lobbied for Peppy but there wasn't consensus. Mom came up with Pepper because he was black with a small white stripe on his chest. Best name ever for a fish is Gil (with acknowledgements to the movie What About Bob?)

I think it's more that he's lazy -
He, his dad and uncle are an enigmatic bunch. There are people that swear they are fantastic human beings and at the same time you have self-destructive issues with the law and coachability problems. Kaiir's self destructiveness is just a bit more 1st world than the prior generation who grew up with less. It's great that he is so kind/compassionate/caring for those less fortunate than he. You find people like that at all socio-economic levels. From the upstanding to the most criminal. That's just one aspect of their humanity. What's applicable here is that Kaiir just didn't make the effort for his employer, his teammates or the fans in Buffalo. It's one thing to struggle to win a starting job it's another to then not even feel compelled to contribute on special teams. That caused a spiral here because they couldn't activate a backup DB who wouldn't play ST's. He alienated himself because he refused to do the dirty work and earn those opportunities to cover receivers every week. He was already financially set from that first contract and he knew he'd get another shot elsewhere because he was a first round pick so he didn't feel compelled to lower himself to the level of a guy like Ja' Marcus Ingram. Now he's basically a 6th round pick for the Cowboys so I expect him to re-adjust his expectations of himself.

Let me guess...you're the one in a family meeting, or business meeting that after you make a suggestion, someone always says "you're not helping..." 😁 * Me too! 🤣 -
McD seems to play some favorites, no doubt. Elam isn't nearly as bad as some posters make him out to be, but he wasn't as good as he needed to be here in Buffalo which likely made it hard for him here. I hope he finds some success. Seems like a good dude. I will keep beating this drum. This team continuously needing to re-draft positions in the top 100 paired is a huge reason why this team has not been able to get over the hump. Singletary, Moss, Hines, Cook. Then Basham, AJE, Rousseau. Coleman then burnt a third on a washed up Cooper. It isn't that you can have too many pass rushers, or cheap RB's/WR's, or too much talent for that matter. It is that they keep going right back to the well in short order because the first one they grabbed didn't get it done.

You are too stupid to respond to. Approach charts have minimum altitudes at various distances that must be adhered to. They are there for a reason, like in this case, a ridge line with extending power poles. This is aviation 101. You abide by them and you are safe. Want an explanation? I'm sure you can't figure it out. Why did this plane crash I'm glad you mentioned fixing "real problems," because that's what our current Sect of Transportation is doing. Quite unlike the last knucklehead who was more concerned about removing male nomenclature and hiring/promoting based on race and gender. It doesn't matter what is available or out of service on the ground. Period.

Cincy usually starts off painfully slow, I’m with you. Once they get clicking it’s hard to stop them. Regardless of what the numbers from last year say, I don’t trust the Bills to match their point total if it becomes a shoot out. Their weapons are still far better and Burrow vs Allen is basically a push. Baltimore is the type of offense that should come out of the gate hitting on most of their cylinders. They are made in the running game, Jackson gets chunk plays on the most basic routes that are usually a result of busted coverage. That’s the hardest things for any team to stop early in the year, especially when the Bills are expected to be rolling out a lot of new defensive players. I don’t like the matchup. I’d rather see them around week 10 as a little bit of a gauge yourself game. The rookies would be up to speed, Jackson and Henry will have taken a few more hits and aren’t quite as dynamic. The same thing can be said of the Bills I suppose, but the Bills aren’t a power running team aside from Allen and again, aren’t as explosive either. Allen is the guy I want all day every day, but Jackson is more explosive as a runner and tends to get more big chunks passing because for everything he’s not, he is very good at deep balls, especially when guys are running wide open, which happens a lot because he has to be spied and Henry doesn’t allow you to play a soft zone without getting you run over. I know I’m in the minority, but I consider Baltimore the biggest hurdle in the AFC. Jackson hasn’t been great in the playoffs, so there’s that, but KC is on the decline a bit and Buffalo is trending up, I THINK they can get over that hump. Baltimore is a bad matchup on paper.
