  2. The first year I was aware of the Bills was the 1968 season. I was a kid and we had only moved to Buffalo the previous year. This was the year that Joe(l) Collier was fired after a week 2 loss and Harvey Johnson was appointed as the interim coach by owner Ralph Wilson. (As a footnote, John Rauch was hired as the Bills Head Coach the following season and after being fired during the 1971 season, Johnson was again appointed interim coach. In his 2 stints as Bills interim coach his W-L record was 2-23-1 (.096).) The Bills record over the first 3 years that I was a fan was 8-32-2 (.200). But like most of us old Bills fans, our allegiance to the team was not optional. The AFL Championship teams of 1964 and 1965 (as well as the 1966 team that lost the AFL Championship game to... the Kansas City Chiefs for the right to go to the first Super Bowl) had created a loyal, rabid fanbase that lasts till this day. Truly one of the greatest fanbases in pro sports. Especially as a kid, we Bills fans always held firm to the belief that the Bills would win on Sunday. Unfortunately by 1968, only a few players were left from those championship teams and the roster was mostly devoid of talent. Injuries also played a huge role as there was an epidemic which resulted in 4 different players starting games at quarterback... Kay Stephenson, Tom Flores, Dan Darragh, and in an emergency role, Ed Rutkowski. That season the Bills finished 1-12-1 and completed only 41.5% of their pass attempts. Of course by virtue of this suckitude the Bills were awarded the first pick in the 1969 draft and selected O.J. Simpson. The OJ Simpson Era lasted from 1969 until 1978. During the OJ Era the Bills moved into their new home, Rich Stadium in 1973. In spite of Simpson's greatness as a football player he was only able to lead the team to one playoff appearance when they lost to the dynastic 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers. In that divisional round loss OJ ran the ball 15 times for 49 yards and added 37 yards and a TD on 3 receptions. In the Steelers' next two playoff games including the Super Bowl, the Raiders and the Vikings ran the ball 42 times for only 46 yards against the Steel Curtain. The Simpson Era ended when new Head Coach Chuck Knox traded him to San Francisco in order to begin a rebuild. Knox led the Bills to 2 playoff appearances in 5 years including the memorable 1980 season but the Chuck Knox Era ended when he resigned in 1983 after failing to reach agreement on a new contract with Ralph Wilson. The next era in Bills history came in 1986 with the hiring of Bill Polian and his subsequent hiring of Marv Levy. The Bill Polian Era ended in 1993 following the Bills 3rd Super Bowl defeat, after which Polian was fired by Ralph Wilson. Thus began the John Butler Era (1993-2000). In a span of less than one month in early 1998, Butler signed QB Doug Flutie from the CFL's Toronto Argonauts and then traded with the Jacksonville Jaguars for QB Rob Johnson. That year the Bills needed to sell $11 million worth of luxury boxes and club seats to guarantee the team's stay in Buffalo for five more years. With Rob Johnson as the starting quarterback the Bills began the season 1-3 and ticket sales were stagnant. There was a palpable pessimism in the air regarding the renewal of the Bills lease. In week 5 Johnson was injured and Doug Flutie came in and led the Bills to a 31-24 win over the Colts and Flutie-mania was born. Flutie led the team to a 9-3 finish and ticket sales exploded and the Bills near-term future in Buffalo was assured. Butler's tenure was also punctuated by the Bills loss in "The Music City Miracle" in 2000. Butler was fired after Ralph suspected that Butler was more interested in returning to San Diego (where he began his NFL career) than remaining in Buffalo. Thus began "The Drought" (2000-2016) which led us to the McDermott/McBeane Era. It's been many years with arguably more lows than highs. We've stuck with our Bills through thick and thin. Like almost all Bills fans, (rightly or wrongly) a single Super Bowl win in my lifetime would be among the happiest moments of my life. There is no doubt that there will lots of celebrating and many tears of joy... assuming my heart doesn't explode sometime during the game.
  3. This! This! Ten billion times, THIS!!! Unless you lived under a rock (or in New England) during the 17 year drought, you know how the NFL looks the other way, when a member of their chosen team clearly breaks the rules... Things haven't changed...
  4. Nah, AAV matters here. Yeah, the guaranteed amount is also very important. But if he plays out the contact (reasonably likely), he'll receive precisely the $46M over four years. And since his last year he receives $10.4 (plus $1M escalator each of the last two years if he plays 45% of snaps and we make the playoffs), even if he leaves a year early he'll have made nearly exactly the AAV times three years instead of four.
  5. Why Trump’s Alaska Summit Was a Masterstroke of Leadership And Why the Left Can’t Handle It by Yassin Fawaz In a world where the mainstream media and radical left thrive on lies and misinformation, it’s no surprise that President Trump’s recent diplomatic efforts in Alaska are being twisted and ridiculed. Their agenda is clear: to undermine any success Trump achieves. In today’s political landscape, these forces have perfected the art of distortion, weaponizing every word and action to portray genuine leadership as a failure. No matter what President Trump does, they will twist it into failure. The recent Alaska Summit is no exception. They say Trump “left no deal struck,” “made no progress,” or worse, that he “failed.” But here’s the reality they don’t want you to see: Donald Trump showed what real leadership looks like—he took the first steps toward peace in a world desperate for it, put the ball firmly in Russia’s court, and sent a message that America under Trump means business. Let’s get one thing crystal clear: this war in Ukraine did not start under Trump’s watch. It started under Joe Biden’s watch, and Biden was a weak, indecisive president who couldn’t keep America safe or respected on the world stage. Biden’s failed policies and feckless approach invited chaos. While Biden played politics and hid behind empty slogans, Trump was out there putting American interests first, rebuilding alliances, and making the tough calls that the radical left couldn’t stomach. Alaska Summit wasn’t a press conference or a reality TV stunt; it was real diplomacy. Trump went to extend a hand of peace, and open a door that the Biden administration ignored. He didn’t come with ultimatums or force deals. Instead, he put the responsibility where it belongs: on Russia, Ukraine, NATO, and Europe. Do you want peace? It’s on you to make it happen. No one is forcing anything; no deals are being imposed. That is leadership, not weakness. 6. If only they could find a way to get Goodell to enforce a rule that teams are only allowed to play their 2nd- and 3rd-string players against Miami, they might be on to something.
  7. Very funny, but a lot of people don’t realize Palazzolo is nearly six feet tall.
  8. Biden Judge Blocks FTC Investigation Into Far-Left Media Matters Gateway Pundit, by Cristina Laila A federal judge on Friday shut down the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) investigation into far-left Media Matters. US District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan, a Biden appointee, issued an injunction against the FTC and blocked its investigation into Media Matters. The judge said the Trump Administration illegally retaliated against Media Matters. “This case presents a straightforward First Amendment violation,” judge Sparkle Sooknanan wrote. In May, the Federal Trade Commission launched an investigation into Media Matters for America, the far left group that targets conservative media outlets and personalities to put them out of business. Media Matters for America is funded by the top Democrat Megadonors who value their work. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/08/biden-judge-shuts-down-ftc-investigation-far-left/
  9. Ah, Bill, you're right, or right in your main idea there anyway. Dang it, I wonder if the details were there at the bottom all along for me to see, as they are now? Dang me. Anyway, it's not in the form of an option bonus, but yeah, various portions of his 2026 salary slowly get guaranteed near the beginning of the league year for each of the next two years till you reach the whole guarantee, which is $28.82M, not $30M, by the way. All $28.82M is guaranteed against injury right at signing. Only $15.28M is FULLY guaranteed at signing but about $10M more of his 2026 and 2027 salary FULLY guarantees by the fifth league day of 2026. That includes $6.22M of his 2027 salary. Which would mean he's unlikely to be cut for performance before the 2027 season unless he has plummeted like a rock. Which hopefully does not happen and is quite unlikely that early after his season at age 27. $2.91M more will guarantee in February of 2027, but again, unless he's has massively regressed, they won't worry about that.
  10. 1. Most violent crime is intra-racial, meaning in the case of homicides that if the victim is black, all else being equal, the perpetrator is more likely to be black. In the age of mass surveillance and the widespread use of cameras on even people’s domiciles it’s rare that we have to jump to any conclusions right away. Knocking on doors gives us more knowledge every year. 2. Strict enforcement of all crime in violent crime hotspots is most likely to result in steep drops in crime. We’ve seen it happen before, and following the summer of 2020 we saw the effect that the opposite approach had: not just more homicides but also more fatal traffic accidents among blacks in particular. 3. Gang violence is a large contributor to inner city violent crime in particular. In my area there were recently a lot of OG shot callers and soldiers let out of prison after serving their time (10 year mins) for federal beefs. We subsequently saw a spike in all crimes. 4. I’m bearish on using soldiers to police generally. There are a number of reasons for this but the number of bad cops out there that served in the military is high up on the list.
  11. VDM is the swing tackle anytime he gets plugged in or gets pre-season action he is solid he's also been in the system for over two seasons I think he's the swing tackle no reason to think he has been unseated by Grable or Lundt. So with the starting 5 and Anderson/VDM that takes you to 7 slots. I think they usually carry 9-10 O-line and I think likely they will carry 9. I think SVPG starts on PUP or goes to IR and they will reevaluate them. So then I think Grable and Lundt round out the last two spots on the bench. Grable with a year under his belt I think is someone they probably like as emergency depth and Lundt is probably the inactive 9th linemen they will develop.
  12. The window will remain shut until the defense can finish a big game.
  13. I’d play Winston over Wilson if they don’t wanna start Dart right away. Wilson has been cooked for a couple years. Afraid to take hits and checks down the second he feels pressure.
  14. This is McDermott's defense. I won't accept Babich as a scapegoat if the defense disappoints again. Especially since McDermott personally chose him as an internal hire that he was already comfortable with. He's had almost a decade to get this defense right when it matters and it just has to come through this year.
  15. I am one of the few Mr. Brightside haters. No thanks
  16. I believe the $30M guaranteed includes this years 5.6M guaranteed money... technically, he has 24M guaranteed as part of the extension over the next four years (beyond this season).
  17. It's so lame, and they way they tried to inorganically make it some type of Bills tradition just reeks of the kind of crap that newer franchises do when they have zero existing fan culture.
  18. Shavers hasn’t been able to make any roster in 2 seasons and counting.
  19. That may be the worst introduction to a sports interview I’ve ever seen. Not knowing Barry Sanders #20 Detroit Lions jersey .…and assuming it’s the jersey of a rookie QB for the Cleveland Browns….on a national SPORTS show! That’s beyond embarrassing. I’m glad I no longer watch any ESPN talk shows & I’m sad ESPN now has so many events that I like to watch that I feel the need to subscribe to ESPN+ to watch them. ESPN started out in such a promising way. It would be great if they returned to focusing on sports and hired employees primarily on their knowledge of sports.
  20. I can’t see Wilson starting more than 4 games…maybe even zero, at this rate. Developing Jaxson Dart is the only way Daboll keeps his job.
  21. 5th round rookie. Had 1.5 sacks vs Lions and apparently flashed a lot.
  22. Our Jordan Phillips? Or is that a rookie?
  23. As little as Samuel has done here he makes it because of his contract and upside. I don’t think they were impressed with Cooper. I’m thinking the Bills keep 6 WRs this year because Shavers or Shenault can provide STs duty. Shenault is another guy I can see getting cut and then the Bills keep on the PS
