Not as much as before because they can now IR two players for return in advance of cuts. That was new last year and as such fewer "wait in the car park" type vet cuts will happen. Sure there is still some calculation between an older bottom of the roster vet you might not lose if you cut him for the PS and a younger guy who is subject to waivers.... but generally these days a guy who is cut in the next 48 hours is cut because they were deemed not good enough to make the roster.

Although, to be fair, they have like half the time to get home on their rushes than their counterparts on teams that have a competent secondary. It doesn't take much time to hit receivers routinely given a ten-yard cushion.

Based on camp and preseason games, I will be shocked if Shavers doesn't make the 53. The question is which bum out of Moore, Samuel and Shenault is kept as the #5. Imo, we should roster at least 5 to account for in game injuries.

Joe Marino’s All 22 from Bucs preseason game
Dunkirk Donski replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dear Joe Marino burner account: I did not realize you were in here at TBD. I listened to your podcasts all summer but must have missed your recent retractions due to family life. I will man up as well and cautiously admit that i may have been incorrect in my assessment. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I will be sure to send a superchat next time i catch you live. Sincerely, Double D -
He does have a lot going for him. Crazy motor, plays like a wolverine. Freakishly long arms, plenty of power. He'll never bend like Von Miller, but I think he could easily stick as a valuable rotational piece.

Why Landon Jackson is the next MONSTER in the NFL
Ray Stonada replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall
If Oliver and Rousseau were studs in the playoffs, we wouldn't be reduced to wishing for a third round developmental pick to become a "monster"... -
I am admittedly jealous of the Eagles who have an active, cutting-edge, first-class pro personnel department making a slew of trades at the waiver deadline in an effort to upgrade depth. Versus Beane’s guys who clearly have run out of new ideas and cannot help but squander their remaining cap dollars on over the hill defensive linemen every single freakin’ year. These small differences often make big differences late in the season.
-
I have no problem with the signing as JP was a consistent effort player. Perhaps this will make more sense by Wednesday Brandon Beane can be a sneaky SOB. .

So much for that huge 4 game series vs the Sox. At least they didn't get swept but overall, this weekend sucked for the Yanks.

I got a 70 using all three of my teams. Bills, Islanders, Yankees.

This nut job and Quack. 😂 -
…the roster the Bills announce on Tuesday at 4 p.m. will NOT be the 53-man roster they begin the season with on September 7. I’d guess that 2-3 spots will change between Tuesday and the opener. It’s one of the reasons predicting the bottom of the roster is something of a silly exercise, since teams wait to see all of the cuts and typically someone’s discards fill a gap on another roster. For the Bills, I think the spots most likely to shift involve the OL and DL, particularly with rumors of Jordan Phillips in the house. Further, there are potential PUP and IR moves that may occur after a player has “made” the team. Just food for thought…it’s definitely a game involving some strategy as to which guys to release that they think they can get back on the PS. This is where a fair amount of “wink, wink” deals are made.

Why did Buechele start and play the entire game?
The Cincinnati Kid replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with the first part that some guys are willing to accept that they’re a valuable NFL backup QB built for the meeting room, the show team and to finish a game, but not much more. I do not agree about anyone being able to learn from Josh (or Lamar, Burrow, Mahomes, Etc) because he (they) do unnatural things on the gridiron. If you want to learn from a starter, it needs to be a more conventional starter like maybe a Geno, Goff or Darnold. Otherwise, hard to believe you can replicate what JA17 is capable of on the field. -
A lot of great memories in that stadium.

What was Jackson’s injury? It was never mentioned but, he may have been hampered during the offseason and not at 100%

Why Landon Jackson is the next MONSTER in the NFL
Andrew Son replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall
The problem is, year after year we keep investing heavily in the same position group and it continues to be a problem. We need at least two out of three of this rookie DL class to hit IMO. -
