davefan66
I just wish Russ had waited till next week to pull the trigger. That way Philly may have given us the earlier 1st rounder. As for next years pick being a 6th rounder (if that is true), that is total rubbish, mine as well not have taken it at all. As for seeing Peters go, fine. I am sick and tired of these millionaire athletes who are under contract not showing up. I understand he was worth more $$ than we were paying him, but show up, do your job under the contract YOU signed. Didn't mind how the OL played without him last year. With TO complimenting Evans this year, maybe that may take some pressure off the OL, who knows. Maybe Bell is the answer, if not Walker did a good job at LT last year. Peters better thank Jim McNally for making him the player he is today. Taking an undrafted TE and converting him to a "pro bowl" LT. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/20...094971324_x.htm
twist_to_open
He was never again gonna play for us, whether he was on the roster or not. We got what we could for him. Good luck with that Philly!
The Senator
I'd don't think I've ever seen you right on any issue ever. I've been saying since mid-December that Peters has played his last game in a Bills uniform; quite clearly, I was right.
Billsguy
Not happy with the compensation. Wanted more...the 20th instead of the 28th, and a 3rd instead of a 4th. Not happy. I agree completely! The Eagles should be thrilled. They have plenty of draft picks and plenty of cap room and they only give up the 28th pick. The unknown pick better be damn good. AJ1
How about NO trade at all and pay the damn guy? Maybe the Bills decided, not some freaking fan, that Peters was not close to being worth what he and his agent were demanding. If anyone got hosed, it was the Eagles. The Senator
Me too Senator, and I want them to win every bit as much as you. We disagree on a player or 2, but the Bills matter more than this freaking idiot. I know this. The thing is, we don't have a left tackle and we haven't had a really good one since Wolford. Fina? He wad decent for a year or 2, but in all he was an undersized bag of s--t. And here we are, back to square 1. Well... Mike Leach ...says it all starts with the offensive line. Should be an interesting draft - I'm thinking Michael Oher, then Mack or Pettigrew, then Connor Barwin, then Loadholt, then who knows? (I'm still hoping for Harrell in the 5th or 6th.) keepthefaith
Just absolutely wretched. It breaks down like this.....we are a cold weather team that had a suckass OL for 15 or so years. Finally, we luck into a blocker with huge talented, a tough s.o.b. What to do? We trade him away for a few bu!!schit draft picks that we all know what Jauron and company will do with them. Bills Fans primarliy consist of blue collar raised tough guys. We sit in the elements and cheer our favorite team, and they look like a bunh of whatever the politically correct term for midgets is these days. Flbills, 1billsfan and all the rest of you Losman fans (in or out of the closet).....please hear this.....I am feeling your pain, and I mean this sincerely. Unless Trent is even better than I thought (and I think he is good), this really might seal the deal on his development. This really sucks. Oh well, any news about Donte Whitner? We should be thrilled with this move. Let's face it, the Bills are going absolutely nowhere with Jauron as coach or with Peters at LT. They'll have the opportunity to draft some new talent which will benefit the next coach and the team as a whole. This team in the playoffs this year is simply an illusion. They don't have the personnel or braintrust in many areas. Trent is young enough that he can rebound from the Dick/Turk debacle once a real staff is in place. We just have to hope that happens for 2010.

plenzmd1
1) Guess we need to re do Walkers contract, cause he signed his contract when he was a right tackle, now he is a left tackle that gave up no sakcs at that position last year 2) Anyboday else see Philly not getting a deal done with Peters as a big Fug you for when we sent ole whats his face back when we could not a deal done with him? I am actually not be facetious here, as something smells funny if Eugene is not involved, that just makes no sense.
Stenbar
This is awful, simply awful. Who the F--- is going to play LT now? How about LG? You finally find a pro bowl LT after searching since 1993 (wil Wolford) and now this is how you treat the man? This organization is completely ridiculous. Yeah, we saved $1.5 million, cash to cap wahhhh!!!! We have draft picks!!! Wahhh....friggin ridiculous. I'm more upset about the compensation than the actual trade. I'm still trying to figure out in what universe a 4th and a 6th is better than a 3rd. We could have had 5 picks in the top 85, but no, we're smarter than the rest of the league, so we'll pass on the 3rd so we can get an extra 6th. Camp fodder! Yay! Super Bowl bound! A sixth next year, no less. Discounted to present value, that makes it worth a 7th-rounder this year. I don't necessarily think the Bills got ripped off, but a very late first, a late fourth, and a (probably late) sixth next year is not a very impressive package. NoName
Please. THIS is the day you are humiliated? Not the countless on the field mishaps or flops? This is a trade that I think both sides lose......Philly will over pay for a J Peters and the Bills should have gotten a little more compensation....I would have liked to have seen the bills get the higher first round pick this year, and a 3 this year and a 6th next year......but thats not a big difference from what the bills actually got......but how will line look now????? LT Walker LG Butler C The new FA pickup from the panthers RG ?????? RT Chambers Maybe the bills could get their DE with their first first round pick and get Max unger with the last 1st round pick....and then move the FA pickup from the panters to LG and Butler back to RG.........you may say we need to get a tackle this year, but if you remember Walker filled in very well for Peters when he played LT Another scenario is bills get their DE with the first first round pick, they use the 2nd first round pick on Pettigrew and maybe unger or one of the other good centers will be their for their 2nd round pick What about free agent market??? Any good tackles out there?
Mike in Syracuse
If Peters was in the draft pool, the lions most likely would have taken him first overall. Now I know we were not trading him to a top ten pick team-but the 28th pick is horrible compensation. less than likely to replace him w a probowl caliber player there-or at 11. draft is a crap shoot, and we traded a sure thing. frustrating. BillsNYC
And we couldn't trade our own 4th while pocketing a 3rd? 3rd rounder > 4th rounder I have no idea....just throwing it out there for people to be patient, a lot could happen between now and Peters actually being traded/signed. Plus..maybe the Bills didn't want to spend $ on a 3rd rounder. Didn't wanna spend money on a 3rd rounder? That argument loses any and all weight once you are outside the top 5-10 picks. A 3rd rounder will be signed to around a 4 year 2-2.5 million (total) contract. You're telling me the Bills are too damn cheap to pay 600k per year for a 3rd rounder? The Dean
Glazer said late round pick. I would assume it's a 6th or 7th that could move up a notch. If that's true, it's a crappy deal. If it's another first day pick, then I would have to rethink my criticism.
TimGraham
A minor update ... salary talks are going well for Peters, but adhering to some salary-cap nuances might make it tricky for the Eagles to finalize tonight. PushthePile
You might want to watch how Peters dominated the Giants when we played them. The whole game turned on us after he got hurt. Yea, he really dominated that first quarter. Clearly he will own Osi and the Giants for the remainder of his career.
HurlyBurly51
Well, from a personal persepective this saves me a lot of money too, as if the Jauron slap in the face wasn't enough then this seals the deal. I will not be travelling nor attending any games this season, not purchasing any additional Bills merchandise, etc. I've paid for ST so I'll be watching, but that's about it. You couple all this news with the Toronto BS going on, and I feel as though I'm slowly bracing for the inevitable. Oh, and for those now clamoring for Oher, he is dumber than Jason Peters and lazier/less motivated than Mike Williams. So I'd rethink that strategy before going down that road again. BB2004
I think realistically, the only thing that I didn't like is that we got the 28th pick instead of the 21st. BB2004
I'll reserve judgement until I see what the conditions on the 2010 pick are. As it stands, its a bit underwhelming, but at the same time, but they didn't have much choice. I agree Brandon. Also, lets see who we pick at 28th for our team. I doubt Pettigrew will still be there, but if he is that would be nice. Does anyone know what the conditions are for the 2010 pick?
