Get McDermott a GM that can scout a hell of a lot better and let's see what happens. I honestly think Beane gets shown the door this off season, barring a bonafide super bowl run. 1 2 Quote

newcam2012 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 7 hours ago, Tanoros said: I’m not opposed to change if it truly makes us better, but I think we have to acknowledge that moving on from Beane and McDermott comes with a real risk, not of staying the same, but of getting worse. We talk about “wasting Allen’s years” now, but imagine falling back into being an 8 or 9 win team, or worse. That’s not some far-fetched scenario. That’s the most common outcome when teams start over. The reality is that with Beane and McDermott, we do have a legitimate shot to win it all every single year. Last year’s playoff loss to KC is a perfect example, it was a game of inches, and the officiating took more than a few of those inches away from us. That doesn’t mean the team was perfect, but it shows how thin the margin is when you’re consistently in the fight. Here’s how I look at it: If you knew with certainty that Beane and McDermott would win at least one Super Bowl with Josh Allen, would you be willing to be patient? Because we already know, without question, that they field a team every year that can compete with anyone. And no, it’s not only because of Allen. He’s incredible, but there’s a lot more that goes into sustained competitiveness than just having a great quarterback. If we decide to move on from this regime, the range of outcomes becomes much wider. Sure, we could luck into a duo that instantly elevates us. But there’s also a very real chance we stumble backward. There are far more franchises stuck in that cycle than there are consistently contending. As for me, I’m honestly still figuring out where I stand. I’ll always want the Bills to win a Super Bowl, especially with Allen. But at the end of the day, football is entertainment. I’m not going to let it ruin my day, week, or year. I simply don’t have the time or energy for that. What I do know is that since Beane and McDermott arrived, I’ve been thoroughly entertained. I appreciate having a team that’s competitive every week and always in the conversation. I’m content to see how it plays out while rooting for the best possible outcome. Sounds like you really aren't open to change. 1 Quote

And I'm not sure it's just about Buffalo and that he reports to another more "desirable" city. He's 34, made plenty of cash and has 5 kids and his hottie wife sitting there in Philly. I think it really was Philly or bust, and unfortunately for him, he went bust. Once again I agree with you. However I can imagine amongst his friends/peers all saying "Buffalo, freezing, boring, blah blah" dodged a bullet lol. If he didn't report to LA or Miami, imo, he'd be receiving the side eyes and giggles, "you didn't want to be in LA or Miami for 6 to 8 weeks to finish up your career, are you crazy bro?". I suppose it is better for all parties that he didn't report and just go through the motions to get a (for him) a relatively small pay check for the last 5 games and not be 100% invested in what remains of the season here. 1 Quote

Tulsabillsfanz Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Slay says he’s from the south and Buffalo’s too cold. Yet he’s spent his entire career in the north. Also, he signed for this season with Pittsburgh, which isn’t exactly a tropical paradise. Slay is full of it. If I’m Buffalo, I use this as motivation. It’s a perfect Buffalo vs everybody rally cry. This 2025 Bills team hasn’t seemed very motivated compared to previous seasons. We’ve been too “professional “. Maybe this will be a slap in the face to get us on a December-January-(hopefully) February run. 4 Quote

gonzo1105 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’m glad that Buffalo isn’t giving his release so he can play in Philly. Okay you don’t want to play here good sit at home with your family and “retire” Quote
paulmm3 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago For me there should be absolutely nothing emotional in the decision not to release Slay. Nothing against him, no hard feelings. But we're not giving another team trying to win the Super Bowl (Eagles) a player they can use for free. It's just good strategy to force Slay to report to Buffalo or to retire. 1 1 Quote

Eagles gotta be really mad to be honest and I love it 😂…they probably tampered their a** off here and I honestly think he’s the missing piece for them. they need to improve the corner spot badly. Steelers are just idiots and tried to have slay man everybody up at 34 years old and the eagles knew how to use him Quote

Not to mention— the Bills can’t set some negative precedent and let these players manipulate the waiver system like this. Quote

Take back some of Slay's signing bonus (which they can do since he didn't report - even though Washington paid it, we own the contract now) and pay Gilmore. Or if Slay doesn't want to pay it back, than he has to report. Quote
