I’m honestly surprised that we don’t see this more. Anything along the sideline you just try to carry him OB. Changing that rule took away one of those gray area calls, and defenses should take more advantage of it, imo. Well played, Cole!

My father has always said as soon as a player leaves the air I would pick them up and carry them right out

He's a crafty old man

Yep noticed that live it was a great play

Back in the day that would have been called a force out and they will give you the catch.. now you're allowed to carry guys straight out

That was one of the best rule changes of the past few decades. That along with getting rid of penalties for crowd noise.

I can't wait for a defender to catch a guy mid-air who goes up for a ball 10 yards from the sideline & walk him out of bounds while he struggles to get his feet on the ground. It's technically not against the rules.

it's not easy trying to carry a struggling person with 10 other guys trying to knock you down.

Bishop is a waste of draft pick. Terrible

Oh wait... we're not doing that anymore...

Coleman's slow.... 😂

Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

That has taken on a new context at this point

I as well noticed it, but it was on the broadcast and it was a great play.

I was at a season opener against Jacksonville where we lost on the last play because of the old rule. Ugh.

2004, right?  that and the pittz loss cost us a shot at the playoffs, we were 9-7 w bledsoe, and we went from killer o w no d to killer d w no o.

i was big on bishop out of the draft (not based on much, im not a big ncaa footy fan), but i felt bad about him when he wasn't playing so well.

am i supposed to brag about "scouting" him, or eat crow for doubting him?

Good football IQ and awareness there. Bishop could be a very good player for a very long time.

The one rule change that I can think of in "recent history" that wasnt against the defense.  Now that I think about it, couldve been 15-20 year ago... but I vividly remember at one point, this wouldve been called a catch for carrying the guy out of bounds LOL

Now that I think even more.... Cole is so young, this might've been the rule as far back as when he first played football hahahahahahahah

Just put the WR on your hip between the hashes, like he's my 2 year old on his way to time out  🤣 please God make this happen!!

I find it an improvement - I loathed the second-guessing about whether the player would have been in or out without the defender.

I took a look and nobody seems to have mentioned this. Including the game announcers.

On Tampa's second attempt at a 2 point conversion, Sterling Shepard made the catch but out of bounds. But he would've been inbounds except for the beautiful play by Bishop. Shepard went up two or three yards from the boundary and was going to come down in bounds but Bishop was right behind him and he just carried him right out of bounds so he couldn't get even one foot in.

Happened at 13:35 in the fourth quarter, and held the Tampa Bay lead to one point instead of three.

It was a really nice play.

Didn't turn out to be important. But it could have.

Beautiful play with good awareness, body control, speed and strength.

Yes, it was another great play by Bishop. The announcers did show it though.

That was a short-lived penalty a long time ago which I don't believe they actually really threw penalties for... maybe a couple times

lol and I read he was going to be absolute rubbish and we needed replacements for both Rapp and him by the general consensus.

Then was repeatedly lambasted for holding reservations after one break out game…

Full circle and the dichotomy of TBD!

Do think he’s going to be a decent starter. He’s been consistent these last 4 games.

That’s all I can ask for a player. Be consistently dependable.

Like Belichick used to say. “Do Your Job”.

Exactly! Terrell Bernard should’ve been a lesson for this board in not jumping to conclusions too quickly and give a player time to learn the defense and NFL speed.

So glad they changed that rule, I remember losing to Houston (?) back in 2004 because of that rule and that was absurd.

It was home against Jacksonville.  Nate Clements I believe knocked Keenan Allen out of the endzone and they called it a TD.

Bishop's development is a joy to watch.

It clicked for him, and now he's just getting better every week.

Didn't happen with Elam. I wonder if it can happen to Coleman next year.

Excellent play by Cole.

PSU fans will recognize this as similar to the game winning TD by Indiana last week.

Priblem was Psu DB went high, into the receivers chest, which allowed him to barely drag his toe. Should have gone low to push legs out of the end zone.

I don't think Keenan Allen is playing football in 2008 when the rules change happened

It was bills jaguars 04

That player may already be on the Bills in Hancock.  The kid was a 4 star recruit from GA who for reasons unknown went to Ohio State.  He played slot corner mostly on last year’s national championship team, but played safety and corner for the Buckeyes.

This is a nice write up on Hancock.  https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Jordan-Hancock-CB-OhioState

I still think he is better suited to the nickel long term but let's see.
