One aspect of Coleman's game is the notion of contested catch ability.  Yes, he's a tall receiver.  He can jump.  That doesn't mean he's good at contested catches.  He has the potential to be.  I think you've also gotta have the timing, hands, strength, and maybe most of all attitude to get it done.

 

Has Coleman ever had contested catch results in college or pros?

Yes but last year I think they shut us down with a lot of man.  I heard on a podcast earlier that our offensive success rate was lower in the Houston game than basically any of our last 40+ games.  

 

They may play a lot of zone today but if it worked last year I wouldn't doubt they'll try man again this year.

It shows how they really feel about him as a player. They were like, “we are better off with Moore and Coddrington dressed.” Keon currently sits behind: Shavers, Palmer, Shakir, Moore, Davis, Samuel, Hardman and Coddrington” for a jersey.

Coleman would work better as a hybrid TE / slot guy. He’s big and can hold off a rusher for 2 seconds on an option play or quick play down the middle in traffic. 
 

The problem I see is he isn’t anything on the outside and Josh hold longer hoping he can put the ball somewhere to make a play. Seems Josh is very frustrated with him and not confident he is going to make a play in the ball. That tells you everything, Josh says Shavers stay and Gabe stays then you would have to believe that’s what they will do.

Shavers is strong at the catch point. Keion is weak at the catch point, and prefers to play patty cakes, then make a play on the ball

Guys make bone headed decisions all the time, but if the talent is there, it’s often quickly forgotten. In keons case, the talent isn’t there and he doesn’t even make up for it with effort. That’s a lose lose when there’s someone right behind you with similar talents but 10xs your effort. Hope the puffy jacket jokes hit the same in the XFL

This is one of the very key points.  Allen extends plays extremely well but you've got to have receivers that know how and where to get open and try hard to do it.  I've seen Coleman catch late passes but not nearly enough. 

 

Diggs is/was great at the late pass obviously.

Hardman only played 4 offensive snaps. 
Moore has been playing for Samuel.
