Rockinon Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago If you think Daboll is going to magically make this WR group into some sort of juggernaut, you've lost your mind. Brady is doing a nice job putting points on the board and is still a young up and coming coach. Daboll had his warts too. People seem to forget. I don't see how any coach can make this WR group any better. The problem is talent not coaching. Can't help but think that bringing Daboll here would be a huge mistake. His offense is too hard to learn and would take the rest of the season just to get it going and even then, without the talent, might never happen. Plus the strength of this offense is every single player that isn't a WR. Quote

Obviously, they are starting to feel the temperature rising amongst the fan base and he feels the need to get out ahead of it because if he doesn't, it's going to be something asked and talked about every week. I mean, depending on how things go, if they don't get better, he'll be continued to be asked about it anyway, but I think he hopes that this will put it to bed. However, there is a big part of me that views this as not shocking whatsoever. McDermott is very protective of his spot and reputation. And the longer he is here without a Super Bowl win, the harder it will be to quiet the critics. I almost feel like he said this in order to lay the groundwork so-to-speak to point at the next "Fall Guy". Whether he wants to admit it or not, we all know he's taken the play calling away from Babich and is calling plays himself now. There's 1 "Fall Guy". And now, he's coming out and giving the dreaded vote of confidence to Brady setting up "Fall Guy #2" just in case things don't get better. I am not sure this season ever gets totally back on the rails, unfortunately. I just think there are too many holes on the team, too many injuries to key players, and just overall scheme issues on both sides of the ball. I still think we make the Playoffs, but as it stands right now, I am pessimistic about our chances at a deep run. And, if we do miss or go out early, there is going to be a lot of finger pointing and this is McDermott's way of pointing the first of those fingers...... Hopefully I'm wrong and they get their crap together, though. I hate wasting years of Allen's prime. 1 Quote

Since1981 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Dear Mr Pegula, An Open Letter to the Owner of the Buffalo Bills I appreciate that you see this $2B franchise as a family show, and it is. But for some of us fanatics, it’s also the one bright spot in these long, dark, snowy, daylight savings gone Western New York days. Please take a hard look at the two guys running the show. Neither you nor I are getting any younger, and neither is #17. The window is open, but not forever. This team and this fan base deserve the best. Please spend the money for truly top tier coaches and a front office built to win. I know they are decent guys, but “decent” does not bring back the fire or sunshine. I need my Bills sunshine back. — A Loyal Fan 1 Quote

Plus the strength of this offense is every single player that isn't a WR. I don't think people believe he will magically make the WRs better. But what I do believe is that despite his flaws in some areas, one of his strengths was scheming guys wide open at times. This is something that we have rarely seen since he left. You don't necessarily need the most talented guys if you use play design to free them up. Obviously, you can't do it on every play, but when's the last time you just saw one of our WRs just wide open for a walk in TD or 40 yard gain? Everything the offense does under Brady is so difficult. It's like pulling teeth at times to move the ball and I think the main reason for this is that Brady doesn't necessarily have a "scheme" or "game plan". He has plays that he calls. He has his 1st down plays, his 2nd down plays, his 3rd down plays, and 4th down plays. He has his short yardage plays, his intermediate plays, and deep shots (maybe.....we haven't really seen them). And he just calls the plays as the game script tells him to. There is no "calling this play now so it sets something up on the next series or later in the game". It's like he's playing Madden and just poking through his playbook rather than creating a plan. It seems like all week when he is looking at an opponent, he is thinking about what 50 plays he has on his play sheet have the best chance at success against the opponent rather than identifying weaknesses and scheming up concepts to take advantage of a certain match up or matchups. I mean, look at the Dolphins' game yesterday. With all of their injuries, all of their backups playing. Did you see any play designed to take advantage of a specific match up or player? No. It was the same generic plays we see week in and week out. When you don't necessarily develop a game plan for your specific opponent in a given week, all of a sudden you become easy for a defense to game plan for because all they have to do is chart your plays, come up with the answers to those plays, and call the right defenses against those plays in the game. There are no wrinkles or special schemes you have to come up with to hide a glaring weakness because he never attacks specific weaknesses. He calls plays in generality rather than game/injury/individual match up specifics if that makes sense. 1 Quote

The Jets had great defenses when Salah was head coach. His primary responsibility would be to fix the Bills D while DaBoll would be given cart blanche to run the offense. The Bills would go back to letting Allen be Allen and design their offense and structure their roster accordingly. Salah would love coaching a team with a real QB and sane owner while the chance to get back at the Jets twice per year would be very appealing. Both Salah & DaBoll are available this off season and I suspect they both would jump at the chance. Quote
bubba2018 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago (edited) you can’t deny the offense would unquestionably do 2 things better than Brady if we had Daboll 1. It will be more creative 2. More QB designed runs These are two things the offense needs Edited 18 hours ago by bubba2018 Quote

Just 2. Mind you he had Allen for 4 years ... I'm not sure if I really want him. I just know that what we saw Sunday was awful. Partly on Brady but not all. Quote

Nihilarian Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago While it looks on the surface that McD gave Joe Brady a vote of confidence...I'm pretty sure behind the scenes he told him he had better get it together or he is gone. I highly doubt that this HC puts up with any more offensive crapfests like Atlanta, Miami. Quote

Yes, I'm thinking about firing my OC mid season and hiring a guy I didn't get along with but I'm not sure if I want him here or if he would come back. If that doesn't happen we'll probably stick with Joe. Quote
