Also, I’m not comparing Hoecht to Parsons, BUT you see the results of how a disruptive player can elevate everyone else around him. What Hoecht brought to this defense is a glimpse of what we’d be getting if we had swung a trade for Parsons… and more.

One name I haven't seen mentioned is Browns DT Maliek Collins. He's PFF's 4th ranked DT this year. I take their rankings with a grain of salt but it means something. He's a veteran at 30 years old so he could assimilate quickly.

Good breakdown of him here:

https://www.dawgsbynature.com/cleveland-browns-roster-players/105920/browns-maliek-collins-underrated-nfl-players-2025-myles-garrett-mason-graham

His base salary for the year is $1.255M so I believe he'd count around half of that against our cap... We'd have him under contract for 2026 too at just a $5.7M cap hit. You could theoretically trade for him and Shaheed without having to do a lot of cap gymnastics.

There is not that much left to restructure unless you push money out on Knox, Samuel, Epenesa and Taron Johnson

They won’t, but Green Bay just lost Kraft for the year…

With the Hoecht injury, Beane now has to go get a pass rusher.  A healthy Palmer will need to be the answer at WR.

Agree, i would rather them fill a huge need on D.  We may not have great wide outs but they have plenty of pass catchers

I think you just examine where you think the bigger need is at with 1T v. 3T.

We should get Jones back within the next two games (hopefully this one coming up). It's pretty clear Daquan Jones is a 1T and Jordan Phillips is a 3T. But then you have Deone Walker and Larry Ogunjobi, who can play both spots. I think you start Jones and Walker alongside the other and rotate in.

I'd imagine you go out and get a 3T as Phillips, while playing admirably, isn't someone you want to rely on.

Edge we're okay at, even with Hoecht's injury. Don't think we need Jalen Phillips (and I don't think they'd trade him to us). Bosa is playing lights out, still have Groot and Epenesa (who is playing well as an off the bench option) and we were sitting Landon Jackson simply bc we were so loaded there that we didn't need him. Now he'll finally see action.

You want to rely on Landon Jackson on a team that has Super Bowl aspirations?  That’s not smart.

Amd we also need a big time LB too.  Bernard and Milano look awful at this point.  Need Thompson back.  The rest are eminently replaceable.

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that we had so many DE's that we couldn't even dress him. We weren't "relying" on Hoecht at Edge either.

We lost one of 4 that were performing at a high level. Obviously, I'd rather have him. But Bosa (especially how he's been consistently performing), Groot (who has taken a step in the past couple games), and Epenesa (who is performing extremely well off the bench) is already a better situation at Edge than a lot of teams in the league. With Hoecht, it was an embarrassment of riches. We've just gone from that to "just" being in very good shape.

Of course i'd prefer Hoecht as well. But this idea that we're in trouble at Edge bc we lost Hoecht isn't accurate. We're in trouble at Defensive Tackle, where Hoecht was filling in for Oliver on passing downs. We're in trouble at WR, where we still have no one who can get open with any sort of consistency (thank God for Kincaid).

But Edge is fine, even with Hoecht's injury. We only had him for 1 1/2 games. Edge was never the problem without him in the lineup. If we lose Bosa or Groot, then it might become a problem. But we're fine there. We aren't at DT, WR, or Safety (opposite Bishop).

Im liking what Im seeing from the young guys.  Walker has made plays, Hairston is for sure improving the corner play.  Hawes has made plays.   Hancock was on the field plenty in a game Mahomes threw for 44 percent.   The book on Sanders this season is not complete, he'll be back.  Landon Jackson could contribute.  Will he be a force, probably not, but can he spell a DE and give them a rest.   Maybe.   Taron will be healthier.   Milano is still upright.   Shaq will be back.  Screw a trade.  Keep the picks for what we lose in the off season, there will be turnover.  I like younger and cheaper.  I like the young guys getting real game experience.  I like knowing they will be here for 3 more years, 4 more with Hairston god willing he stays healthy.

I'm still going after the best WR we can get..... Landon Jackson will probably be elevated for Hoecht, I doubt we'll get anyone even close to Hoecht at the deadline, to think Miami is going to give their biggest rival a player like Phillips is just stupid even if it is the Dolphins. The combo of Solomon/Jackson could possibly make up for the loss? Maybe? Hopefully?

This also was hopefully the coming out party for Cole Bishop, definitely his best game by far and it wasn't even close, he was a difference maker pretty much all throughout the game but did give up some plays which has to be expected from a QB like Mahomes it's just going to happen.

I hope the light went on for Cole Bishop. But I still would like something on the other side of him beyond the Jordan Poyer/Jordan Hancock combination.

I hope Hancock becomes the answer long term. But a rental of Budda Baker alongside Bishop playing at that level would move the needle QUITE a bit.

Yep we need to have the ability, should we need it, to play from behind. Also jumping out to a lead like 10-0, 14-3, would be great to have in the bag.

Take the run game away from teams. Let all these pass rush specialists be able to pin their ears back for more downs.

Id be worried playing catch up with these WRs... but in a pinch Cook getting involved would be helpful AF

Waddle is an easy fit at least. Miami could retain some $ if we toss in an extra pick

There is no way Miami is trading Waddle, a talented young player in his prime, within division.

They might trade a Chubb, Minkah or Judon within division - possibly - where they feel there isn't a ton of juice left. But they are not trading us Waddle.

I honestly think Poyer is part of the light going on. He has always been an exceptional communicator and I strongly suspect he is talking Bishop through the game a lot out there. While I am still as concerned as anyone about whether thry really have enough at safey, my temptation is not to mess with it right now. Because if playing next to JoPo for half a season is the thing that turns Bishop into the future of the position for us then long term it is worth it.
